CHAPTER 231: THE 3RD PHASE OF THE EXAM- FIGHTING OTHER STUDENTS

After his sudden outburst, all the remaining affinity checks became totally silent.

Many groups kept looking at him, and some even showed arrogant or angry faces.

Theo sighed and felt like he had done something that was totally not needed.

’My anger got the better of me... Now, when I pass, I might get some challenge from these childish young masters...’ Theo sighed but did not show anything on his face.

There were too many eyes on him now.

"I will accept all the challenges I get~" Ron spoke, making Theo cringe hard and look at him.

"That was so cool! Did you prepare these lines beforehand, Theo?" He asked while laughing out loud.

Theo didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but a light laugh came from his side too.

When Elias saw Theo and the kid joke around from the side, he sighed in relief. But soon enough, his eyes went serious again. The attendants were talking about something, and Elias was all ears to them.

After another 10 minutes, all the prospective students had gotten their affinity recorded.

Theo sat there quietly and waited for the instructors to get to the next part.

A few minutes later, Theo saw the cloaked man approach again.

"Prospective students, the results for all the tests so far have been graded. You will now be escorted out if you were unfortunately not accepted for the next testing." The cloaked man spoke and, for the first time, there was a smile on his face.

’Sadistic bastard,’ Theo thought while shaking his head in disappointment.

"Are you scared you will have to leave, Theo?" Ron asked.

Theo looked at him and simply shook his head in denial, making the young brat laugh again.

The following minutes were brutal for many children when they were escorted out.

The more common tendency he found in these children was either crying or just not accepting it in anger.

Those who did not accept it were taken to another spot to get their paper reevaluated in front of them, only for them to come out with double disappointment.

The children who were in the range of 400–500 before was dwindled down to around 250.

Theo was surprised to see this development; he couldn’t help but wonder if it was the written exam that got them or the beast companion bond test, because there was nothing else but the affinity test that had been done till now.

The hall was a lot quieter now, everyone showing a tension that was not felt a moment ago.

And the tension became a lot more aggressive when the cloaked man came to the front of the stage again.

"Congratulations to those who are still seated. You have made it to the last phase of the exam." The cloaked man spoke and, before he could say anything else—

The other seated instructor got up and came forward, interrupting the process.

"And if you have made it this far, then your seat in our academy has already been promised. The last exam is but the basis for us to segregate you into different levels of classes." The man spoke.

The cloaked man gritted his teeth as if the other instructor had ruined his fun, making the other instructors chuckle and the children erupt in happiness.

"Enough." The cloaked man spoke, making silence loom over the hall.

"The next phase is the combat test. You will all be paired together to fight your beasts with each other." The man spoke with a smirk, making Theo feel like this guy was a little twisted for someone who was a teacher.

"There will be a protective ability used on your beast’s body, which will help you use all the abilities you possess. Once we see the barrier broken on a beast, that will mean the end of the exam." The man spoke, making many nod.

Theo saw that many children were excited, and some even looked at him with determined and arrogant looks that he didn’t like.

But it was something he had done to himself, so there was nothing really he could complain about.

"You will be given 20 minutes to get your beast to this hall. Good luck, you will need it." The cloaked man spoke, and this time, his gaze was directly at Theo.

"Wow, you really pissed off the one instructor you shouldn’t have," Ron spoke with giggles.

"Is he that bad?"

"Worst. His classes are already very tough to follow, but if you’re on his bad side, it becomes tougher." Ron spoke.

Theo squinted his eyes in skepticism. "And how do you know this?"

The question made Ron stop his giggles and look at Theo with that same annoying smirk.

"I have my ways."

’Alright, this kid is waiting to get beaten up.’ Theo thought while controlling himself.

For some reason, he saw Celeste and Gideon in him.

"I will go get my beast now. Wait for me!" Ron spoke and ran away with a wave of his hand.

Soon enough, Theo saw almost everyone leave the hall, making him realize he was one of the very few people that was at level 5.

He looked around and saw two more individuals who were seated—one was the girl with the blue hair that had the rare affinity, and one was a boy who had crown-combed hair.

His eyes were closed, and he was seated in a very noble manner.

Theo looked at the girl again, only to see her looking at him too.

Her gaze loomed over him for a moment too long before it went back straight.

Theo sighed, realizing it was going to be too hard for him to make connections in this place.

His previous life had taught him nothing, as whoever contacted him was already a person who wanted to make a connection, and it was the opposite in this palace.

While he waited, Theo saw the woman with the sword—the instructor he was already curious about, looking at him.

When she realized Theo was looking at her, she waved her hand at him, making Theo do the same.

’At least someone likes me,’ Theo thought with an inward chuckle before he saw Elias approaching him.

But before him, a uniformed man came and stood in front of him, making Theo confused.
