CHAPTER 239: THE SUPPORT- BECOMING A DISCIPLE AND IT’S BENEFITS

It was Professor Evelyne who had taken a liking to Theo a while ago.

"What are you doing here, Miss Diane?" The cloaked man spoke, and that was when Theo thought about it the second time.

’Isn’t her name Evelyne Thorn something? Why is he calling her Diane?’ Theo thought.

Evelyne had a small smile on her face when she looked at the professor. "I came here to talk with Theo. He is the one that I want to take in as my disciple," she spoke and looked at Theo.

The cloaked man clicked his tongue right in front of Evelyne, and that was when Theo realized the relationship between this professor and the other instructors was not even good.

"The point was... the mistakes you and your insect made in the last bout have made me realize that you are not made for the advanced class, which the other instructors were trying to get you in," he spoke, surprising Theo but not in the way the cloaked man was expecting.

’Wait, I was being selected for the advanced class? I remember Mother saying to get in the intermediate class, that will be good...’

"So now, you will be sent to the intermediate class," the man spoke with a grin as if enjoying giving this information to Theo, which wasn’t even needed.

He could have just made him enter the intermediate class without letting him know, but the professor was just too sadistic in Theo’s eyes.

"Well, I don’t think you’re making the right decision, Instructor Silas," Evelyne chimed in, making the man look at her with a frown again, yet she wasn’t fazed.

"Student Theo showed an exceptional level both in his physical exam and the written one. He defeated student Lyra Caldrienne, who is one of the highest-level individuals here. If she is in the intermediate class, then I suppose defeating her has made Theo eligible to be in the advanced class," she spoke in seriousness.

Yet all Theo felt was shock. Why was she being this helpful toward him? Did his father tell her to side with Theo? But he hadn’t heard of any individuals who were going to help from Father’s end. Just his brother Lucien.

"... I believe this decision has to be made in front of all the instructors, not just us," Silas spoke in a pissed tone.

Something about it made Theo satisfied until he looked at Theo.

"... You will know which class you need to be in when you get your uniform, Theo Merrick," he spoke, and without even looking at Evelyne, he went ahead.

When he was near the other end, Evelyne had a few chuckles before she moved toward Theo again.

"Don’t mind Instructor Silas, Student Theo. He has been like this with the students for a long time," she spoke and looked at his crest and sword.

"You became an even bigger target when he saw the crest of your family, the sword on your waist, and your beast. They all are..."

"Weird?" Theo spoke, making her nod with a smile.

"I am one of the only instructors here who use a sword. This path... not many follow it. At least not at the level of this academy," she spoke in seriousness, and Theo nodded.

Not a single student had armor on; they were too reliant on their beasts that they thought getting injured was impossible, which was the most gullible thing to think of.

"I will be direct with you, Student Theo," she spoke again. "Before you can even know of the other instructors, I am offering you guidance on how you can master fighting alongside your beast."

She spoke and was going to continue, but Theo interjected.

"You have told me enough, Instructor Evelyne. I have wanted the opportunity to study with someone who had walked past this path before me. But I would like you to know that I have had a tutor before. Though I only learned the basics from him."

"That’s only given, Student Theo," she spoke with a few laughs. "You are from the family of Merricks. The knights that come from that family are on a level that many on the higher level can’t compare with. I remember my family employing the knights from your family to teach the younger ones," she spoke with nostalgia.

Theo nodded when he heard that with a smile. Yet he didn’t ask anything as he had no idea as to which family she belonged to. He had looked at nothing but the history and the beasts these past years, leaving aside the families that were at the top.

Yet on another point, Theo could tell this teacher felt a little on the side of innocence.

There was this feeling he was getting from her that was making him want to talk with her more and more.

"I will gladly join your guidance, Instructor Evelyne. Thank you," Theo spoke with a light bow.

"You made a good choice, Theo. And for an early reward, expect yourself to be enrolled in the advanced class, so you have to work very hard to stay in that class, okay?" Evelyne spoke, making Theo’s eyes widen in surprise.

"Yes! I will do my best!" he spoke in excitement, only to slow down as he thought.

Why was he acting like this? It was not like him to get this excited and shout this much.

He looked at Evelyne, who was giggling, and that was when Theo realized something.

’Wait... do I have a crush on this instructor?’ He thought, and soon enough, he felt another level of admiration toward her that was unlike him.

"I will be going now, Student Theo. Do your best, alright?"

"Yes!"

’Oh no.’

When she was gone, Theo was in a daze. Was it really possible for him to have a crush on this woman? He didn’t even feel attracted toward her, and to be honest, it wasn’t even possible to be attracted to her, given his age.

Yet here he was, being childish in front of that one woman.

Just like that, Theo started moving toward the exit in a dazed state until Elias joined him and started asking his set of questions.
