CHAPTER 480: CHAPTER 480: UNIMAGINABLE
"Get two blankets over here."
"Alright."
The flight attendant glanced at Ava Sterling beside him and quietly left.
Not long after, the blankets were brought over. Poe Vaughn quietly spread them out and gently covered Ava Sterling.
The flight attendant stood there watching, a trace of surprise in her eyes.
Because Poe Vaughn didn’t seem like someone who would do such a thing.
He appeared extremely indifferent, so cold that no one could approach him.
Someone like that couldn’t possibly understand feelings, because he himself lacked warmth. How could someone with no warmth know how to care for a woman?
Especially since, prior to this, there was no sign that Poe Vaughn cared about Ava Sterling at all.
Yet at this moment, seeing such a seemingly cold and heartless person do something so meticulous and thoughtful was really unimaginable.
And this, by chance, was the truth.
Poe Vaughn covered Ava Sterling with the blanket, almost covering her entirely from the neck down, leaving only her head exposed.
At this time, Ava Sterling had no idea Poe Vaughn was covering her with a blanket; her head was tilted to one side, sleeping soundly.
Poe Vaughn looked at the person in deep sleep, her skin as soft as a baby’s cheek, and then withdrew his gaze to sit back down.
But at that moment...
"Gurgle..."
The sound of a stomach rumbling reached his ears, he paused, his gaze falling on her stomach.
"Gurgle gurgle..."
The sound came from Ava Sterling’s stomach, very clear in the quiet cabin.
Poe Vaughn looked up, his gaze settling on Ava Sterling’s face.
Despite her stomach dramatically declaring its emptiness, Ava Sterling continued to sleep soundly, completely unaffected, as if the sounds weren’t coming from her stomach.
Poe Vaughn looked at the person whose eyelashes hadn’t even flickered and spoke up, "Meals, please."
"Alright."
The flight attendant walked away.
She too had heard Ava Sterling’s stomach growl and seemed quite surprised as if she hadn’t had dinner.
Yet, it’s quite normal; some people are in such a hurry to board that they don’t get a chance to eat.
Poe Vaughn sat in his seat, watching Ava Sterling.
Her stomach kept growling, as if it were hungry enough to wake her up. Yet, Ava Sterling remained asleep, as if nothing mattered as much as her sleepiness.
The flight attendant quickly returned with the meal cart, placing the food in front of Poe Vaughn’s tray table, carefully setting it out.
Soon, the aroma filled the air, wafting into Ava Sterling’s nose.
At that moment, Ava Sterling’s brows furrowed, her eyelashes twitching.
Poe Vaughn observed the dishes on the tray table; they were specialties from Aurelia, a mixture of meat and vegetables, along with a soup, quite a sumptuous meal.
Ava Sterling was deeply asleep, clearly sleep had triumphed over hunger. However, as the delicious aroma entered her nose, it instantly gave her stomach strength.
The balance tipped and the feeling of hunger gradually awakened her consciousness; she twitched her nose and opened her eyes.
What greeted her was dim lighting, but she could see everything clearly; she noted the unfamiliar cabin setup around her.
Of course, she had just woken up, her mind still somewhat fuzzy.
Everything in sight registered in her eyes but didn’t convey to her heart; it was as if everything she saw was nonexistent.
Nonetheless, the continuous aroma nudged her from her deep sleep gradually, making Ava Sterling instinctively turn her head to see the meal on the tray table.
Fresh, steaming dishes.
Immediately, her stomach reacted, growling even louder.
She sat up straight, instinctively swallowing as she gazed at the food. Her hunger surging, intensely palpable.
By now, Ava Sterling was fully awake.
Entirely awakened by hunger.
Poe Vaughn heard the commotion, turned his gaze to her, and saw eyes hunger-filled as if she desperately wanted to grab the chopsticks right away.
He raised his hand, passing the meal to Ava Sterling.
Ava Sterling took it at once, not even looking at Poe Vaughn, immediately grabbing the chopsticks to start eating.
She had eaten lunch, but had nothing the entire afternoon and evening.
Even though her work was teaching new models how to walk the runway, as a teacher, she wasn’t one to just stand and instruct; she had to walk back and forth herself.
Demonstrating, modeling – it took a lot of energy.
Given these conditions, having gone so long without eating, she was starving.
At this moment, she wasn’t in the mood to overthink, her priority was to fill her stomach.
Poe Vaughn watched her eat quickly, faster than usual; she was really famished.
He didn’t interrupt her, simply picking up the chopsticks to serve her more food.
A piece of braised pork rib was placed in her bowl, its color rich and well-marinated; Ava Sterling immediately picked it up and ate, satisfaction causing her to squint with pleasure.
She needed meat; Ava Sterling wasn’t someone who stuck to vegetables.
She believed in a balanced diet, consuming both meat and vegetables; she wasn’t afraid of gaining weight.
Of course, her body naturally didn’t gain weight easily, plus she exercised a lot.
Walking the runway, back and forth, practicing required stamina. To maintain her figure, she would go to the gym, and if she had time, practice Taekwondo, Judo, martial arts.
As a woman, expecting others to protect you wasn’t viable; you had to rely on yourself.
She realized this very early on, explaining why she had such good skills and why she wasn’t easily bullied.
With such physical activity, her appetite was larger than other girls, yet her figure was very well-kept.
She had all the right curves; her figure wasn’t skinny and was very impressive.
Poe Vaughn looked at the happiness on her face, serving her some green vegetables.
Ava Sterling also picked them up and ate, not forgetting to shoot Poe Vaughn a bright grin after finishing.
With good food, everything was forgotten.
This was Ava Sterling, easily forgetful, easily content, so simple.
Ava Sterling slightly filled her stomach, no longer empty, and then her eating pace slowed down a bit.
By this time, she remembered Poe Vaughn, naturally serving him food in return.
No reminders needed.
That’s Ava Sterling, she remembers kindness shown to her.
Poe Vaughn looked at the dish she placed in his bowl, said nothing, and ate.
Just like that, the two had their long-delayed dinner, eating quietly yet warmly.
Ava Sterling, her stomach full at last, leaned back contentedly, closing her eyes in satisfaction.
Being full made everything right.
She couldn’t think of anything more blissful at the moment.
And once full, sleepiness returned once more.
Ava Sterling yawned, opening her eyes to look at the night outside the window.
The sky was pitch black; apart from the occasional flash of the wing lights, nothing could be seen outside.
She couldn’t tell what time it was.
While thinking, Ava Sterling yawned again, turned her head to look at Poe Vaughn.
Poe Vaughn had called the flight attendant to clear everything away and was now looking at his watch.
Seeing him check his watch, a scene instantly popped in Ava Sterling’s mind.
