CHAPTER 24: CHAPTER 11: SPARRING (PART 2)
Su Xiaocai said, "It’s nothing, I applied for a patent, she’s just too cautious."
What patent?
The three of them pressed for details, but Su Xiaocai wouldn’t say more, "I’ll tell you once it’s approved, not sure if it will be successful yet."
Feng Wansha knew best about the hassle of applying for patents, as she had applied before and the wait was particularly long.
The award-winning work from the previous competition had also applied for a patent, and the certificate still hadn’t arrived.
They could only wait patiently; they’d know before graduation.
Their considerate interactions made the dormitory atmosphere very harmonious, with everyone consciously respecting each other’s privacy.
Whether they checked in private was unclear, but face to face, they managed the line well.
At night, Su Xiaocai took Wu Qingqing to the training room, swiped her card to enter. The Military Training College implemented a points system for using school facilities. New students received a thousand points before school started.
Points reset after school started, which was why students came to school early for this reason.
Acquiring points wasn’t easy. All students needed to gain points through attending classes, academic performance, class engagement, achievements, contributions, and competitive matches.
The training room cost five points per person per hour, and it would be hard to book after school began. They made the most of their points during the vacation.
After entering the training room, Su Xiaocai activated privacy mode, and the transparent observation window turned black so no one outside could watch.
Wu Qingqing and Su Xiaocai stood face to face, dressed in sportswear.
The height difference between them was obvious.
Like an adult and a child.
Wu Qingqing swallowed and said, "Caicai, I’ve learned professional martial arts. Hitting might hurt. Even when I spar with my cousin barehanded, he complains afterward. Being good at driving doesn’t mean you’re good at fighting. Are you sure you want to spar?"
Su Xiaocai didn’t waste words, beckoning with a finger, "You’ll only know if you can fight, by trying."
"Okay, be careful, I’m not used to holding back." Wu Qingqing assumed a starting position.
There were four machines beside the training room recording video and also acting as referees to time the session.
Three, two, one. The start bell rang.
Wu Qingqing launched a fierce attack, her punching speed was fast, just like her driving skills, swift and forceful, courageous to move forward.
Su Xiaocai dodged left and right, blocking strikes she couldn’t evade with her hands, then retreated, seemingly pressed but not getting hit at all.
After two minutes of sparring, Wu Qingqing’s stamina began to wane.
Su Xiaocai wasn’t even sweating.
"Caicai, are you going to fight or what? Just dodging is no fun."
"You want to be hit? Alright, I’ll do that for you."
Su Xiaocai’s demeanor shifted suddenly, she moved behind Wu Qingqing and gave her a swift elbow.
Wu Qingqing didn’t feel any force from Su Xiaocai, yet she fell uncontrollably forward, hitting the ground hard.
Dazed, she forgot about the pain of her cut lips.
What kind of trick was that? It was too fast.
Unwilling to admit defeat, Wu Qingqing thought it was an accident. She flipped over and jumped up, "Continue."
With a lifted leg, she executed a whip kick, the sound cutting through the air demonstrated its power and speed.
Even her cousin dared not directly receive this move.
Wu Qingqing’s proud move didn’t cause the expected damage.
Su Xiaocai neutralized it with just three fingers.
Her fingers precisely pinched Wu Qingqing’s ankle, applying a gentle force, a push and pull, and Wu Qingqing’s leg straightened instantly.
Before she knew what happened, Wu Qingqing was slung like a sandbag against the soft wall of the training room.
"Ow." Wu Qingqing grimaced, "What just happened?"
Su Xiaocai taunted, "Come on, let’s keep fighting. Five points for an hour, can’t waste it."
Wu Qingqing felt aggrieved, "Fine, let’s fight."
She didn’t believe that with her skills, having won third place in underground fights, she couldn’t at least land a small hit on Su Xiaocai.
The fact proved Wu Qingqing’s grievance was premature.
What followed was even more uncomfortable, her straight punch was easily countered head-on.
Her raised knee was pinned down with a single hand, a hand imbued with an uncanny quality, resisting all her strength effortlessly breaking all her attacks.
The quick, fierce attacks she prided herself on were ineffective against Su Xiaocai.
No matter what moves she chose, Su Xiaocai easily countered.
Being thrown again, Wu Qingqing waved the white flag to surrender.
Su Xiaocai twisted her waist, "Alright, warm-up’s over. Time to get down to business."
Wu Qingqing was bewildered, "What are you saying? I don’t understand." She didn’t dare say this out loud,
"What just happened? Why does hitting you feel like hitting cotton?"
Su Xiaocai didn’t correct her that she hadn’t hit at all, "This is softness, I intended to give you a taste of the soft-hard blended technique, but you didn’t even touch on wrap techniques or triple throws, there’s a lot of room for improvement."
