CHAPTER 335: CHAPTER 3: SHELTER (PART 3)
The only thing that could be provided in large quantities was these cheap, filling potatoes.
The other survivors were eagerly surrounding the exploration team members, bombarding them with questions about the shelter and future life.
Except for Nedved, he glanced at everyone present and walked away with a can in hand.
Omar quickly caught up with Nedved, lowering his voice after getting closer, "Ned, why did you provoke those Chinese just now?"
"Chinese?" Nedved paused and looked back at Omar in confusion, "How are you so sure they are Chinese?"
Omar looked back at them, then tried to act friendly by putting his arm around Nedved’s shoulder.
Over the past year, the two had clashed multiple times over resources, and Nedved was very cautious of Omar. He discreetly took half a step back and said coldly, "If you have something to say, just say it directly."
Omar didn’t mind and said mysteriously, "Did you not notice that this group is actually mostly Chinese?
Their leader is that young Chinese guy, I recognize him. He used to be a ’Dongda’ tycoon and was somewhat famous online.
About two years ago, the abandoned playground near the town was rented. The mayor at the time thought a big investor had come and was overjoyed.
Later, many heavy trucks transported goods to the playground. It did look like they were going to reopen it.
I helped with some renovation odd jobs and found that this group of Chinese merely dismantled the old facilities in the playground, and then there was no further investment."
Nedved listened impatiently, "So what?"
Omar said with certainty, "I bet this team came from that playground. They must have stockpiled a lot of supplies, but they don’t have many people."
In his remarks, the last sentence was the real focus— not many people.
Nedved wasn’t foolish; he immediately understood the hidden implication in Omar’s words.
Instead of humbly begging for food and just surviving, why not take a risk to seize everything, secure the developed resources, and become the new rulers?
Omar continued to entice, "Since these Chinese can grow potatoes, it means they’ve transformed the playground into a farm.
They’re now no doubt short-staffed if they’re out collecting refugees.
If we can take over their farm, why settle for eating these unappetizing potato cans every day?
Look at their complexion, especially that woman, radiant and glowing, something definitely not sustained by just eating potatoes."
Nedved couldn’t help but turn around again, his gaze greedily sweeping over the busy Jennifer.
The beautiful woman not only looked stunning but her complexion far exceeded that of these survivors struggling on the brink of starvation, further validating Omar’s words.
But Nedved still shook his head, "Who knows how strong these people actually are? I don’t want to go to my death for nothing.
Since they are willing to take in people, they must also be able to offer some work. I’d rather have a stable job."
Having said that, Nedved then picked up the bucket of potato cans and turned back to his ’Doomsday Fortress,’ ignoring Omar.
Omar remained unfazed, turning to continue actively contacting other survivors in the town, repeatedly sharing those tempting and ambitious words.
Some were tempted, others cautiously shook their heads, and most just silently watched from the sidelines, unwilling to easily take a stand.
