Invincible after death, but in Warhammer 40K
Chapter 182 182: Just Call Me Little Steel
Zhang Ge did not join the Counteroffensive.
Not because he didn't want to, but mainly because… yes, because Ascalon had moved again.
As soon as he laid eyes on this Titan, Zhang Ge had anticipated this situation would occur. Sure enough, despite trying to focus on other things, Ascalon began to tremble once again.
No, damn it, if you want to move around like you did before, that would be one thing—but right now, let alone other matters, the Titan itself is moving; it clearly has a pilot. If it performs the same actions as before, how will Zhang Ge appear to others?
He didn't dare to think about it.
Yet even though he had no intention of moving, even though he wasn't trying to distance himself from the Titan, under the deliberate suppression, Ascalon's movements only escalated.
Nearby, shortly after the bombardment from orbit landed, the orders for the Counteroffensive had already been relayed. A large number of surviving soldiers were pushing themselves to their limits, initiating their countercharge.
One by one, they raced past Zhang Ge, following a group of surviving vehicles and several Knight Armigers, merging into the desert under the lead of the Space Marines.
It was only after the last soldier had departed that the Chapter Champion of the Imperial Fists appeared beside Zhang Ge again, looking curiously at the Astra Militarum officer who was gripping the hilt of a sword, which was still vibrating uncontrollably.
This Champion didn't suspect that Zhang Ge was cowardly; after all, he had been considered worthy by the support troops above to be dropped down in the first wave, but wouldn't they need to share information? Why was there so much silence?
"What are you doing?" he asked.
Just then, as those words were spoken, Zhang Ge's hand suddenly drew Ascalon from its sheath.
"By the Throne... Imperial Fists, I wish you a Merry Christmas."
Zhang Ge, whose efforts were in vain, felt his vision darken, watching helplessly as Ascalon flew directly towards the massive Reaver Titan.
Then… it circled around?
It did indeed circle around, right?
Zhang Ge was momentarily at a loss for words.
A sudden turn of fortune, doomed by its own momentum?
Did this thing finally succumb to the pressure and decide to flee?
However, before he had time to feel happy about it, Ascalon made it clear through its actions:
He was far too early in his joy.
Having flown for a while, it had transformed into a barely perceptible black dot, but after flying about a thousand meters, it stopped advancing and hovered in midair.
The sky also began to change.
The sunlight that had originally shone on the Vitrified Dunes was now being obscured by clouds that had appeared out of nowhere.
At the same time, the environment rapidly grew cold at a perceivable speed.
The Chaos forces could, of course, sense this anomaly, but despite drawing some of their surviving frontline firepower from the Counteroffensive and bombardment, all those projected attacks were completely swallowed up like pebbles thrown into the sea.
Amidst the faint rumble of thunder, two opposing storms appeared.
One swirled from above downward, rolling countless dark clouds, rotating as it moved its apex towards Ascalon.
While the other rose from the ground, lifting up masses of fine sand and shattered glass.
The two opposing storms touched at the apex over Ascalon, and in an instant, a pillar of light piercing the heavens appeared…
No, at this moment, those who were still looking directly at it could discern that it wasn't merely white light; it was an extraordinarily thick lightning bolt, or rather, a rift.
From the void, as the lightning descended, a massive shadow began to reveal its true form.
It was Olivia.
She had been projected in a form resembling a vastly magnified version of Terminator Armor, with Ascalon serving as the Teleport Homer.
Not a moment was paid in tribute to the losses of the Reaver; instead, what arrived immediately on the battlefield was a Warlord Titan!
At that moment.
The Iron Warriors who saw a Warlord Titan materialize from the air across from them: "Huh?"
The Imperial Fists, seeing Zhang Ge summon a Titan with a sword: "Huh?"
The Knight Armigers, rushing in and suddenly feeling themselves shrouded in shadow: "Huh?"
Looking up and suddenly realizing they had become tiny counterparts to the Reaver Titan: "Huh?"
And Zhang Ge, who was also witnessing this for the first time: "Wait, buddies?"
But Olivia had no time for such thoughts; she merely recognized the enemy based on the appearances of those Chaos Cultists.
Then she activated the Volcano Cannon.
At that moment, a beam of fire, a thousand times more brilliant than sunlight, swept forth from the cannon's barrel. The shockwave alone ground the hills into powder and carved trenches across the plain, sending tons of magma-wrapped crystalline sand flying amidst the expansion caused by the heated air.
Even shadows were dispersed, but many would be unfortunate enough to miss witnessing the breathtaking spectacle of all darkness being erased by the ultimate light.
Because they were precisely the targets of the Volcano Cannon.
Whether vehicles, flesh, demons, or Traitor Astartes, or Blessed Cultists.
In this moment, they were all equally transformed into particles dissipating in the air.
The first defensive line of the enemy positions directly before the Counteroffensive forces was shattered as a result of this single strike. Those fortifications capable of withstanding conventional artillery strikes disappeared along with the targets they were meant to protect, leaving behind a terrifying scar on the earth.
Magma-blooded, the crimson glow reflected on the other soldiers yet to face the blows.
However, such a terrifying strike was merely an opening act, just one of Olivia's main guns.
As the tide of swirling energy escalated, Laser Blasters, Plasma Annihilators, another main gun, and two shoulder-mounted Gatling Blasters began to emit dazzling light, bringing down the judgment of the Omnissiah upon the enemies.
Amidst this chaos, the Valkyrie had become like a light phantom, almost gliding along the sandy surface. After evading the already disrupted AA Defense Grid, it began to rain down countless Rocket Projectiles on the Field Airstrip where enemy aircraft and flying demons were attempting to take off.
Chaos, fire, and death.
Everything fell upon the Chaos forces, who clearly still held an absolute advantage in manpower.
Yet the Imperium showed no signs of showing mercy to these traitors.
In the sky, numerous Drop Pods and fighters broke through the cloud cover, and thousands of elite forces comprising the vanguard were descending upon the enemy positions below.
Moreover, just as they were about to land, the massive signal source finally came into view for the Iron Warriors.
It was a Colossal Battleship engulfed in a Crimson Aura, charging directly toward the ground...
