CHAPTER 1941: CHAPTER 1960: NEWS OF THE KING?
The Palace of the Virgin is the largest, most luxurious, and quietest sleeping palace on the warship, inhabited only by Elijah Burch, a Fox Concubine, without even a single handmaiden.
The vast Palace of the Virgin feels desolate and empty. In the Kingdom of Jake King, many know of the king’s fox woman, also called the Virgin Elijah Burch. However, she is the king’s forbidden treasure, with a transcendent status that no one dares to approach without permission.
Elijah Burch has lived in this secluded palace for countless years, to the point where even she doesn’t know how long she’s been on this warship!
Fortunately, the warship is large enough, and so is her Palace of the Virgin. Whatever she wants, she has, making her life quite comfortable.
Of course, no one knows that Elijah Burch is actually lonely because... because she is not happy.
Today, a graceful, elegant, and very charismatic beautiful young woman came to the Palace of the Virgin. Elijah Burch was certain she had never seen this person before, and she definitely wasn’t from within the warship, so she looked her up and down curiously.
Cheryl Mills likewise observed Elijah Burch. Although she had heard about this woman before, she had never seen her. However, upon seeing her today, she was utterly astounded. Elijah Burch looked ethereal and otherworldly, as if her beauty was otherworldly. Her appearance, figure lines, was an embodiment of perfection.
Her beauty was suffocating, casting a shadow on others’ self-esteem. Cheryl Mills considered herself within the beauty category, but compared to this woman, it was as distant as heaven and earth.
The two of them just stared at each other from a distance. No one spoke first. Elijah Burch didn’t speak because she had lost her curiosity. She lived like a walking corpse, unable to find the meaning of living.
Because nothing could interest her, not even to say something unpleasant, she couldn’t even find a man to sleep with!
For so many years, she didn’t even know how old she was, yet her body was still intact!
And Cheryl Mills didn’t speak because, first, she was astonished by her beauty, and second, she didn’t know how to address her.
She could tell that Elijah Burch was also a Complete Body, like her—a spinster!
Suddenly, when she thought of the word spinster, Cheryl Mills chuckled to herself, then gently saluted Elijah Burch!
Seeing her salute, Elijah Burch also politely returned the courtesy, then lightly smiled, "Please sit, would you like to drink something? Tea, coffee, or perhaps Celestial Herb?"
"I know a little about tea, and there’s no need to mention Celestial Herb, but what is coffee?" Cheryl Mills asked curiously.
Elijah Burch smiled, "It’s a drink that the king painstakingly found for me many years ago. My hometown produces a lot of it, and it tastes nice."
"Oh, then I’ll try it, thank you," Cheryl Mills said politely.
Elijah Burch brewed a cup for Cheryl Mills and pushed it in front of her. Cheryl Mills took a curious sip, finding the bitter taste quite hard to drink.
"I can hardly enjoy this taste!" Cheryl Mills said with a shake of her head and a smile.
"You’ll get used to it. Who are you? Why have you come to see me?" Elijah Burch asked proactively.
"Nothing in particular, just wanted to see you," Cheryl Mills said, looking at her, "and also to inquire if the king said anything before leaving the last time!"
"There’s still no news?" Elijah Burch suddenly became anxious, "After so many years, could something really have happened to her? You all don’t know where she is either?"
The world only knew that Elijah Burch was the king’s concubine and the king’s favored consort. But only Elijah Burch herself knew she and the king were like sisters, lying in the same bed, sharing the same blanket, whispering secrets, and discussing the little secrets between women.
If there were friends or family in this world, then the king would be her friend, her family, like a dear older sister or a younger sister.
The two spoke of everything without reservation.
"There’s no news, so I came to ask if the king said anything to you before she left back then. I hope you can tell me!" Cheryl Mills said, looking at her seriously.
"What did she say?" Elijah Burch frowned, "We talked about everything. She said a lot!"
"Hmm, think back and pick out something important, something you didn’t understand?" Cheryl Mills guided.
"Something I didn’t understand?" Suddenly a flash of Spirit Light came to Elijah Burch, "She seemed to have said that there were soul toxins within her and the spirits of the Celestial Beasts King and Demon King, insoluble toxins!"
"What?" Cheryl Mills suddenly stood up, "How could she or anyone else have something like that?"
"I asked that at the time, but she only shook her head."
"Sigh!" Cheryl Mills took a deep breath. The king, the Celestial Beasts King, and the Demon King all had soul toxins? Who could have poisoned them? Who had that capability?
It’s very likely that the king’s disappearance is related to the soul toxins!
"What else did she say?" Cheryl Mills asked again.
"She also said she fell in love with someone... a person, but when I pressed her about who, she wouldn’t tell me!" Elijah Burch didn’t mention whether the king fell in love with a man or a woman!
Cheryl Mills shrugged and smiled wistfully, not revealing who it was either!
"I think her disappearance might be related to that person she fell in love with? Perhaps they are already together?" Elijah Burch said with a hint of bitterness. She only knew the king fell in love with a man, but who that man was, she really didn’t know!
"There’s no connection between them, think again if there are any other clues?"
"Anything else?" Elijah Burch thought for a moment, "She said that her future was likely to involve death and disappearance, the heavens would no longer exist, chaos would reign, a new world, a new civilization, a new overlord would emerge, leading the old world into the new world!"
"Hmm, anything else?"
"That’s all I don’t understand, there isn’t much else. Later she enjoyed singing, playing the piano... um... that’s all!" Elijah Burch had been warned by the king not to reveal her identity as a woman, so she stopped speaking immediately, not wanting to reveal too much!
After all, she didn’t even know who this woman standing before her was, so some caution was good!
"Who are you? Why did you come here?" She finally asked out of curiosity.
"My name is Cheryl Mills!" Cheryl Mills said with a slight smile, "A long time ago, even before you appeared, I was following the king, and it was the king who granted me my abilities and made me who I am today!"
"Oh, so you’re not a concubine of the king?" Elijah Burch asked, curious.
Cheryl Mills gave a wistful smile, "No, I’m not."
"Oh." Elijah Burch said no more, and fell into silence!
"By the way, we’ll soon arrive at my city, and then you’ll be able to disembark and explore my city!"
"Your city? Really?" Elijah Burch’s eyes lit up instantly, "I don’t know how many years it has been since I’ve seen the outside world!"
"Yes, it’s my city. You’ll be able to go anywhere you want, no one will harm you, and you can do whatever you like!" Cheryl Mills said with a smile and a nod.
"Thank you, Sister Cheryl Mills!" Elijah Burch took deep breaths repeatedly. She genuinely longed to get out because this place was dark and sunless!
