Chapter 1961: Chapter 1980: The Giant Who Came by Teleportation
In the grand hall, Francis Harmon trembled as he knelt into a ball of flesh, being naturally plump and frail, sweat poured down from him like raindrops.
And the courtiers around him glared in anger, for he had dared to collude with the Gluttonous Clan? Wasn’t that akin to courting death? Moreover, he almost endangered the king!
“Francis Harmon, I’ll give you a chance to explain, but only once,” Yusuf Zuck said coldly.
“Yes, yes, yes.” Francis Harmon repeatedly kowtowed and said: “Yesterday, my nephew and niece came to me and claimed someone wanted to meet me. At the time, I was free, so I agreed to the meeting. The person gave me three Magic Treasures, one of which was the Primary Spirit Mother, another a bow and arrow, and the third a cloak. But, these treasures, I intended to present to you, my Prince. I just haven’t had the time yet.”
“And I honestly didn’t know that man was the Ancient King of the Gluttonous. If I had known, how could I have introduced him to Prince Ning? I truly didn’t know.” Francis Harmon kept kowtowing, tears also flowing, truly frightened.
Yusuf Zuck sneered and said: “Understand, if you lie to me, you’ll die, and I’ll soon find out if you’re telling the truth.”
“Absolutely true, absolutely true, I was just momentarily bewitched, greedy, almost harmed Prince Ning and almost harmed you, my Prince. I deserve to die.”
“Hmph.” Yusuf Zuck snorted and then shouted toward the hall’s exterior, “Where is Avery Nelson? Bring those four children in here, I want to verify whether Francis Harmon speaks truth.”
“Here, coming, coming.” Avery Nelson brought four children quickly into the hall and also knelt.
“You four heard what Francis Harmon said, didn’t you? Is it true?”
“Reporting to the master, it’s true, he genuinely didn’t know the Ancient King’s identity, nor that we are of the Gluttonous Clan.”
“Yes, yes, yes, I honestly didn’t know!”
“Then you’re guilty of corruption!” Yusuf Zuck barked again.
“I… the servant…” Francis Harmon opened his mouth, “I beg the prince’s punishment.”
He dared not argue further, knowing that the death penalty was already off the table, further defense could anger the prince.
“Turn over the three treasures, you’ll be fined three years’ salary and half your fortune, do you agree?”
“I agree, I agree, thank you, Prince, for sparing my life…” The wretch was so grateful, three years’ salary was nothing, even half his fortune didn’t matter to him. But, losing the Mother Spirit, he could no longer reach the Longevity stage.
And Yusuf Zuck never intended for him to achieve the Longevity stage; someone managing finances has no need for it. So, Yusuf Zuck deliberately wanted the Mother Spirit, which was of genuine use to him, permitting the opening of another Blood Bead.
Francis Harmon presented the three treasures, but Yusuf Zuck only took the Mother Spirit, throwing the other two back to him, and kindly said: “Do you know why I took your Mother Spirit?”
“It’s your Mother Spirit, not mine, and you, my Prince, can now achieve Longevity, a blessing for our Longevity Empire and the world.” The wretch’s flattery was on par with that of Parker Berger.
Yusuf Zuck shook his head with a smile: “It’s not that I can achieve Longevity, I’ve received the Mother Spirit before, but it won’t allow me longevity. The reason for confiscating it is that I don’t wish for you to attain Longevity.”
“Huh?” Francis Harmon was bewildered, at a loss.
“You manage my treasury, what’s the point of your longevity? Just handle the finances, who needs Longevity? Remember, you’re my right-hand man, so as long as you manage finance, no need for cultivation.”
“My Prince, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have been corrupt. I recognize my wrongdoing. You’ve treated me like your own child, I can only repay by serving diligently in the future.” The wretch cried again; after receiving a scolding, he was given a sweet reward. In front of all courtiers, he was called the prince’s treasury, his right arm. What an honor, knowing this meant the Empire needed Francis Harmon, the prince needed him.
Though there was a mistake, it was sufficient to scare him, no need for further conflict or killing, he understood clearly. Yusuf Zuck’s disciplinary style indeed made him grateful.
“Alright, it’s getting late, let’s reconvene tomorrow to discuss governance. Everyone, get some rest.” Yusuf Zuck waved his hand; originally, he intended to deliberate with ministers on future plans. But now, holding a Mother Spirit, he was impatient to swallow it, eager to unlock another Purple Blood Bead.
“Yes.” After the ministers bowed and saluted, they gradually left, but Yusuf Zuck asked the four children to wait.
Only they remained behind.
“Do you know where the Ancient King acquired the Mother Spirits?”
“He captured them,” one of the children immediately replied, “he once said he visited the Spirit Sky and obtained multiple Mother Spirits.”
“You didn’t follow him?”
“No.”
“Alright, nothing more, you may go.” Yusuf Zuck stood up and quickly returned to his study.
However, just as he sat down, before he could take out the Mother Spirit, a sudden quake traversed the sky, akin to a meteor crashing, the sound was immense.
Yusuf Zuck, greatly startled, vanished from the study in a flash.
Simultaneously, the recently departed ministers swiftly returned, they hadn’t even exited the palace, thus heard the resounding boom.
“My Prince, it’s from Transmission Mountain, but one cannot explore it with Divine Consciousness, and now it’s night, we can’t see what’s happening.” The ministers, after returning, immediately shielded Yusuf Zuck, displaying loyalty and protection.
“My Prince, I’ve sent people to investigate, we’ll have news soon, please remain calm,” Parker Berger reported.
Yusuf Zuck nodded, for he had a bad feeling, an ominous premonition.
It seemed the tumultuous times were coming, and his Empire’s true ordeal was beginning.
All the ministers held their breaths, gazing towards Transmission Mountain, immersed in darkness, nothing visible.
But after three or four breaths, the jade simple in Parker Berger’s hand suddenly flickered; upon probing with Divine Consciousness, shocked, he exclaimed, “My Prince, this isn’t good, a giant appeared on Transmission Mountain, the sound we heard was it landing, it devoured all our people…”
“What? A giant?” All ministers looked grim; what kind of giant creates such disturbance?
“Come, follow me to see for ourselves. Hmph, that Transmission Mountain is a bane; I’ll destroy it today. Let no one ever use it for midnight transmissions.” Yusuf Zuck was furious; Transmission Mountain constantly facilitated arrivals; some fled, others entered the city, yet for so long, no one dared cause trouble.
But today, seemingly, that giant came with ill intentions, it even consumed people!
