204: Chapter 204: The Fragrance Fades, The Jade Perishes 204: Chapter 204: The Fragrance Fades, The Jade Perishes “Someone’s knocking at the door?” Yusuf Zuck and Lena Brown both woke up startled, sat up, and Yusuf immediately released his telekinesis.

Two Mexican police officers, both burly, also had one hand on their gun holsters, looking as though they might draw their weapons at any moment.

“It’s the police!” Yusuf spoke in a heavy tone.

“The police?” Lena was momentarily taken aback, casting a strange glance at Yusuf.

She knew Yusuf could turn invisible, but the fact that he could tell the people outside were police officers without even seeing them…

could it be that Yusuf could also see through walls?

Of course, Lena was only stunned for a moment before she stopped pondering it any further.

Yusuf was a very strange person, after all, and if he said he could see through walls, she would believe him; what was so unbelievable about that, if he could even turn invisible?

“But why would the police knock on our door?” Lena wondered aloud.

“Open it and see, ask them what’s the matter,” Yusuf said with a grim look on his face.

The Mexican police were not to be trusted, but now they had no escape and could only adapt to the situation.

Lena tidied up her clothes and makeup, then opened the door and asked in English.

The two officers quickly scanned the room, and when they saw Yusuf, they exchanged glances with each other, then one of them began to converse with Lena.

After a moment, Lena appeared a bit agitated, continuing to talk with the officers, who kept shaking their heads in response.

“What’s the matter?” Yusuf asked, standing in the room.

“They say that the hotel has reported us, claiming our passports are fake and suspecting us of being smuggled in.

They want us to go back to the police station to assist in their investigation,” Lena said angrily.

“Fake?

Hotel reported?” Yusuf was stunned for a moment.

His own passport was indeed fake, but they shouldn’t be able to detect that in Mexico, right?

Moreover, the officers claimed that ‘their’ passports were fake, but Lena couldn’t possibly have a fake passport, so there was a problem.

Yusuf’s mind raced as he considered whether they could escape if he took action now.

“No, I can’t get away with Lena!” Yusuf quickly dismissed the idea of attacking the police and fleeing.

After all, this was an airport; he couldn’t take Lena with him on a plane, and they wouldn’t be able to escape together.

“Sigh,” Yusuf took a deep breath and said, “Let’s go with them for the investigation.” He planned to react on the fly and perhaps had to change his other escape plans as well.

At the same time, he was amazed at the capability of the Las Vegas Casino, which had found them so quickly and even involved the Mexican authorities!

Indeed, these two officers were definitely connected to Las Vegas; otherwise, it wouldn’t be such a coincidence.

Yusuf knew that danger had arrived, and what was to come would indeed be a real battle.

Lena packed up her belongings, then clung to Yusuf’s arm.

She was scared and felt something was off, so she stayed close to Yusuf to feel safe.

As for clinging to Yusuf’s arm, she was no longer concerned about any embarrassment.

Although their previous heart-to-heart hadn’t led to a relationship beyond friendship, they had grown closer than just regular friends.

The two officers were very friendly and didn’t handcuff them or anything; the two led Yusuf and Lena down the stairs and into a police car.

The police were real, and so was the police car.

The police car swiftly left the airport hotel and then drove along the main road towards the city center.

But after driving for about fifteen minutes, as they were about to enter the city, the driver unexpectedly turned off, as if onto a country road.

Without needing Yusuf’s instruction, Lena took the initiative to ask where they were being taken.

The officers claimed they were headed to a precinct.

“Something feels off; since when is there a police station outside of the city?” Lena whispered.

“Don’t rush, let’s see what tricks they’re going to play,” Yusuf Zuck shook his head.

About half an hour later, the police car stopped at an abandoned cabin on a rural road, where a line of black SUVs was parked.

As soon as the police car came to a halt, around twenty men in black, carrying submachine guns, suddenly jumped from the SUVs and, chuckling, surrounded the police car.

The two policemen got out of the car at once and approached an Arab man in his thirties.

Indeed, this man was Arab, as he wore something like a white headscarf and was dressed in a white robe, typical to the region.

Yusuf Zuck had seen such attire on TV news; it was very similar to what members of terrorist organizations wore, but not exactly the same.

The man in the white robe exchanged cheek kisses with the two policemen and laughed as he said something.

Yusuf Zuck’s palms began to sweat, and Lena Brown was trembling nonstop—the policemen were in collusion with these terrorists, and it seemed they were about to hand them over to these terrorists.

As the three of them talked, the two policemen also gestured towards Yusuf Zuck and Leila Brown inside the car.

After the man in the white robe said something to the armed men, two of them immediately opened the car doors, dragging Yusuf Zuck and Leila Brown out from either side, separating them.

Yusuf Zuck didn’t make any sudden moves; after all, Leila Brown was by his side.

Even if he were to explode into action, Leila Brown would still be in danger.

“Why are you arresting us, who are you, why are you arresting us…” Leila Brown started to struggle.

She was in complete disarray and tried to charge towards the two policemen.

However, just as Yusuf Zuck wanted to signal Leila Brown to be quiet, something he could never have anticipated happened, something he would regret for the rest of his life.

As Leila Brown was about to confront the two policemen, the man in the white robe suddenly snatched a submachine gun from one of his guards!

“No–” Yusuf Zuck was already watching the man in the white robe, so when he saw the man grab the submachine gun from his companion, he knew something was terribly wrong.

His head throbbed with a rush of blood, ringing loudly!

“Ratatat–ratatat–” Gunfire erupted, and as the man in the white robe laughed maniacally while shooting, it seemed to him not as if he were killing a person, not as if he were robbing a young woman of her life, but as if he were slaughtering a chicken, laughing heartily all the while.

The others laughed too, the two policemen just shrugged their shoulders with a smile.

Yusuf Zuck struggled as his eyes saw only bursts of blood blooming from Leila Brown’s chest as she fell down.

Yusuf Zuck was then pushed to the ground…

She did not close her eyes.

Her hand seemed to be reaching out towards Yusuf Zuck, with fear, despair, unwillingness, and sadness in her eyes.

She was motionless now, the ground beneath her stained red with blood, her eyes still on Yusuf Zuck.

Yusuf Zuck lay on the ground, shaking all over, tears uncontrollably streaming down his face.

He really hadn’t expected the man in the white robe to be a madman; without even a word, he had started shooting to kill, giving Yusuf Zuck no chance to intervene.

It all happened too fast, too suddenly, leaving his mind a total blank.

“Ah–ahhhhh–” A gun pressed against the back of Yusuf Zuck’s head, yet he screamed his lungs out, a relentless, piercing scream.

In that moment, he went mad!
