CHAPTER 717: 561 FAMILIAR PALPITATIONS FEELING_2
But these had nothing to do with Reiger.
He was not here to settle in Xinyele, and he could not care less about any of the chaos of this city.
All he wanted to know was whether any of the people below could provide him with the information he sought and tell him about the relic.
Thus, Reiger activated his Scrying Vision and looked down upon the scene.
Under his scrutiny, the power levels of everyone in and around the arena were exposed, all within his line of sight.
And discounting the rest, there were only eleven individuals here that merited Reiger’s attention.
Among these eleven, five, like Reiger, were perched atop buildings, watching the battle below without getting involved.
Of the remaining six, aside from the two locked in fierce combat, the other four were leading various factions and observing with dispassionate interest.
All eleven were veteran Swordsmen, and one had even reached the pinnacle of Swordsmen, a mere half step from being second only to Albert Bolei, the Sword Saint.
This particular individual was also present at the scene, leading a group of brawny warriors with a sword cradled in his arms. As he watched the fight, his eyes gleamed, and a corner of his mouth turned up in eagerness, seemingly itching to jump into the fray himself.
"Battle Maniac, huh?"
That was Reiger’s assessment of the man, after which he turned his attention towards the two combatants in the middle.
"Huh?"
Suddenly, Reiger was taken aback.
In his Scrying Vision, the brooding Swordsman, who was continuously dodging the Magician’s offensive spells and attempting to close in on his opponent, was carrying something strange.
This object could not be seen through, nor could it be scrutinized. In Reiger’s Scrying Vision, it was like a black block, very peculiar.
"What is that?"
No sooner had this thought appeared in Reiger’s mind than the next second, without any reason, a sense of palpitation emerged from the depths of his heart.
"This feeling..."
Understanding something, Reiger’s gaze towards the brooding Swordsman shifted significantly.
"Master?" Noticing the change in Reiger’s demeanor, Liz inquired with surprise, "What’s wrong?"
Without offering an explanation, Reiger simply fixed his gaze on the black block carried by the brooding Swordsman, his eyes narrowing, seemingly deep in thought.
"Ah, it’s the tavern sister."
Liz was about to speak again when she spotted Lipum’s figure.
The woman had set off before them, but alas, not as swiftly as Reiger’s teleportation magic, only now arriving at the scene quite belatedly, and barging directly into the center of the action.
"Big sister!"
"Big sister!"
The faction supporting the Magician shouted upon seeing Lipum’s arrival.
"How’s it going?" Glancing briefly at the battle, Lipum asked a burly man within the crowd, "Have you not seized that thing yet?"
"Not yet." The burly man shook his head, seeming somewhat regretful as he said, "Kammon is stronger than the rumors suggest. The boss went to deal with him personally, and the outcome is still unresolved."
"After all, he’s the leader of ’Dragon Horn,’ one of the top forces in the underworld. If he were that easy to handle, he’d probably have been killed by the Oasis Knights already." Lipum frowned, her voice laced with concern, "Taking this long and still not having it secured, yet stirring the pot and attracting so many forces here—that’s quite troublesome indeed."
"It’s more than just ’quite troublesome,’ big sister." The burly man said with a wry smile, "Even if the boss can defeat Kammon, there are still those damned desperados from ’Dragon Horn’ behind him."
"Even if we were to get that item, what would it matter? There are just too many eyes on it now!"
"These guys are just too cunning. Seeing that the boss and Kammon are evenly matched, they’re all sitting on the sidelines as spectators. They’re obviously planning to wear down ’Play Magician’ and ’Dragon Horn,’ then when one of them falls, they’ll rush up together and snatch the item."
Upon hearing this, Lipum’s expression grew bleak.
She roughly understood why it was only Yade and Kammon who continued to clash—neither wanted to fall prey to others fishing in troubled waters.
"Big sister, how did things go on your end?" The burly man inquired further, "Didn’t the boss send you to the Sunset Tavern to post a task to recruit some heavy-hitters?"
"You think I didn’t go?" Lipum gritted her teeth as she spoke, "You know what the Sunset Tavern is like. Those damned merchants have the quickest news. Once they knew what we were after, they immediately canceled my task, saying they couldn’t meddle in these affairs carelessly, or else it would be tough to handle the repercussions from the City Lord."
"Tsk!" The burly man clicked his tongue, "That’s so typical of those two-faced characters!"
"I actually did come across a highly capable individual, but unfortunately, I couldn’t lure him over." Lipum said with a shake of her head, "Now we can only take it one step at a time, hoping that our leader comes up with a solution to break the situation."
"Be ready, the moment anything goes awry, we’ll charge in to assist immediately."
"We can let go of the item, but we cannot afford to lose our leader, understood?"
Upon Lipum’s command, everyone naturally responded loudly.
In [Play Magician], with the exception of the leader Yade, his sister Lipum was the person with the highest authority, her strength also within the top three among her own people. Other than leader Yade and the burly man who had just spoken, she was the strongest in [Play Magician].
Now that Lipum had spoken, the burly man who obeyed the siblings without question had no objections, and naturally, neither did anyone else.
Instantly, the atmosphere at the scene became heavier and tenser, the air filled with the smell of gunpowder.
"Interesting."
Reiger, who had been observing the battle, suddenly smiled.
He noticed that everyone present seemed to share a common goal, keeping their eyes firmly on the two clashing in the center, while their glances at others were filled with vigilance.
Including those like him, perched upon the surrounding buildings, they appeared restless and eager to move, as if they could hardly contain themselves and wanted to rush down.
"Are they all here for that item?"
Reiger had a speculation, and felt that this speculation was the correct one.
"It seems the origin of that item is really quite extraordinary."
Reiger fell into thought.
As a thousand thoughts flickered through his mind, the situation in the arena suddenly changed.
"Are you still going to just watch the show?"
Kammon, who had been unable to get close enough to attack Yade, was already infuriated. He lifted his sword and roared at everyone around.
"If we keep this stalemate up, not to mention the Oasis Knights; even the City Lord might come over!"
At this declaration, the expressions of the many onlookers finally changed.
"Kammon!"
Seeing this, the icy look on Yade’s face disappeared, replaced by a slight, barely perceptible irritation and anxiety.
"Kammon!"
Finally, someone who could no longer contain themselves stood out.
It was the strongest fighter in the place, who Reiger had labeled as a Battle Maniac.
"Leo!"
Kammon looked at the Swordsman who was younger than him, around thirty years old, with a wary expression.
The Swordsman named Leo suddenly grinned.
"Give me the item, and I’ll let your [Dragon’s Horn] leave."
At these words, Kammon’s face turned extremely ugly.
Everyone else felt the same. Their expressions changed drastically, and all of them could no longer hold back.
"Bang!"
The next second, someone suddenly rushed into the scene from the outside, charging towards Kammon.
Once someone took action, the rest of them, as if stimulated, shot out all at once.
"Give me the item!"
"To me!"
"Hand it over!"
With roars, countless people stormed into the center, towards the dismayed and furious Kammon.
"We’re going in!"
A leading Swordsman from [Dragon’s Horn] saw that the situation was bad and bellowed, leading the charge.
"We’re going too!"
Lipum made a quick decision, ordering her people as she charged forward.
All of them sprang into action, rushing into the center.
The battlefield became chaotic in an instant.
