CHAPTER 823: CHAPTER 643: THE STRONGEST MAGIC SWORDSMAN (PART 2)
"Let’s go, let’s have breakfast first."
Reiger then called Ais, urging her to follow.
As they disarmed, removing swords from themselves, they headed to the grand dining hall of the Twilight Manor.
The grand dining hall of the Twilight Manor is the only dining venue within the base, similar to a school cafeteria.
The decor here is somewhat medieval European, with excellent lighting, a bright and transparent interior, filled with rectangular dining tables. The tables are already laid out with breakfast meals prepared by the duty members, filling the entire dining hall with the aroma of food, greatly stimulating the appetites of the clan members.
When Reiger and Ais arrived at the dining hall, it was already packed with people.
"Meals should be shared with everyone!"
Under Loki’s policy, apart from lunch, breakfast and dinner would usually wait until all members, except those responsible for duty, gather before it begins. Thus, once it’s mealtime, the dining hall is always crowded, and moving between chairs might take some effort.
As for lunch, most people will choose to manage it on their own.
This is because many members head to the underground city after breakfast, not returning until sunset, making lunch the quietest of the three meals of the day, and Loki does not insist on gathering everyone for lunch.
It’s breakfast time now, so naturally, the dining hall is bustling.
However, when Reiger and Ais arrived, many members simultaneously stood and made way while greeting them, allowing the two to walk into the dining hall.
"Reiger! Ais!"
At this moment, Theona, who was already seated in the central position of the dining hall, stood up and enthusiastically waved at them.
Beside Theona were Theone and Rephia, along with Finn, Revilia, and Grace, occupying a position mainly taken by the clan leaders and executives.
The rest of the members voluntarily made space there, not daring to casually enter the circle of the clan leaders and executives, except Rephia was specially invited to sit beside Revilia, looking somewhat restrained.
As for Bert, the unpopular werewolf was hiding in a corner, eating alone, showing no intention of joining the fun. He only glanced at Reiger and Ais when they walked side by side into the dining hall, then continued eating breakfast with a sour face.
Seeing this, Reiger and Ais naturally walked over.
"Morning, Captain, Lady Revilia, Old Master Grace."
Reiger greeted the three clan leaders.
"...Morning, Theona, Theone, Rephia."
Ais followed up greeting Theona and the others.
"Morning, Reiger, Ais."
"You’re here?"
"Please, have a seat."
Everyone smiled while greeting them, inviting Reiger and Ais to sit down.
It seemed that a spot had already been reserved for them between Rephia and Theona.
Reiger and Ais casually sat down.
Ais sat next to Theona.
Reiger sat next to Rephia.
Because of the length of the table, the group was seated side by side, from the front, occupied respectively by Grace, Finn, Theone, Theona, Ais, Reiger, Rephia, and Revilia.
The eight of them occupied one long table, with dishes in front more sumptuous than those on other tables. There was still an empty seat in front of Grace, seemingly reserved for Loki, but Loki was absent.
"Where’s Loki?"
Reiger casually asked.
"Not here." Grace said, while drinking a glass of water and wetting his beard, "I figure she’s still hungover from yesterday night."
...That God certainly has a careless style.
"Don’t wait for her, let’s eat ourselves." Finn mentioned, while solemnly pondering about the mysterious beverage handed by Theone, "Based on previous occasions, she probably won’t wake up until evening; we needn’t wait for her."
Everyone nodded accordingly, following Finn’s lead and began to eat.
"By the way, Reiger, did you know?"
Theona, ever lively, spoke to Reiger with a playful smile, while chomping on her breakfast bread.
"People outside now are spreading the word, saying you’re the strongest magic swordsman in Orario!"
This remark reduced the lively atmosphere in the dining hall somewhat.
Everyone seemed drawn to the topic, casting glances, more or less, towards the clan executives.
"The strongest magic swordsman in Orario?"
Reiger was somewhat surprised, unable to help but freeze for a moment.
"Real, really? Miss Theona!" Rephia expressed utmost surprise, "Is Mr. Reiger regarded as the strongest magic swordsman in Orario?"
The so-called magic swordsman, as the name implies, is a swordsman capable of fighting with magic.
No, that’s not quite accurate.
More precisely, a magic swordsman is someone who advances to the frontlines, wielding magic as a battle tool, far superior to arrows or other projectile weapons, engaging in melee combat while skillfully using parallel chanting to cast magic and support defeating enemies.
It’s a role highly cherished by adventurers as midfielders, considered a high-end midfield profession, highly praised within adventurer teams.
Adventurers possessing such professional capabilities not only excel as midfielders, but can also serve as front-line fighters who engage enemies at close range or act as rear guards casting magical attacks from afar—an almost all-rounder occupation.
Therefore, whenever a magic swordsman expresses interest in joining an adventurer team to explore the underground city, about eighty percent of adventurer teams in Orario would eagerly come forth with invitations.
That means magic swordsman is likened to sweet pies in the eyes of adventurers, sometimes even more sought after than magic guides; even from magic guides’ perspectives, they envy a magic swordsman’s ability to join frontline combat and adeptly perform parallel chanting—better than themselves who must stay behind under protection to chant spells.
Rephia is such a person.
Though she’s a rear guard magic guide, she most admires the combat style of magic swordsmen.
So, when Theona mentioned this, Rephia responded more vigorously than anyone else.
In response, Theona nodded repeatedly.
"Yes, those on duty early morning went out to buy cooking ingredients. When they returned, they told us about it."
Next to Theona, Theone also turned her head over to add a few words.
"I heard about it too." Theone remarked leisurely, "Heard it’s spreading quite widely outside; most clans in Orario know this incident."
These words led everyone to look at Reiger in unison, seemingly waiting for his response.
"The strongest magic swordsman in Orario?"
Reiger chuckled slightly and said.
"Are they ignoring Freyja Clan’s black and white knights?"
The black and white knights referred to by Reiger are two first-tier adventurers within the Freyja Clan.
They are elves with levels reaching Lv.6, naturally magic-wielding races and capable frontline fighters.
———[Black Demon Demon Sword].
———[White Demon Wand].
These two are collectively known as the black and white knights, second only to [The Mighty] and [The Goddess’s Chariot] among first-tier adventurers in Freyja Clan, enjoying high fame in Orario.
If Revilia, touted as the strongest magic guide in Orario, stands at the pinnacle among elves, the black and white knights rank as the second-tier.
Even so, Revilia had to acknowledge some inferiority in certain aspects.
