Journey to the West: Great Saint Equal to Heaven
Chapter 131 - 131 130 You've Provoked Old Sun from Mount Ling
131: Chapter 130 You’ve Provoked Old Sun from Mount Ling 131: Chapter 130 You’ve Provoked Old Sun from Mount Ling A silhouette rushed over and collided straight into Sun Wukong’s embrace.
“You scoundrel, why did you only come now?
You scared me to death.”
Sun Wukong raised his hands, looking completely innocent.
Off to the side, the complexion on the Ox Demon King’s face darkened, and he let out a heavy cough.
It was then that the Iron Fan Immortal realized she had embraced the wrong person.
She quickly let go, and then shot the Ox Demon King a glare, discontentedly saying, “What are you coughing for?
What’s wrong with hugging our brother?
You haven’t even settled the account with me regarding that Jade-Faced Fox.”
The Ox Demon King had a bitter smile on his face; it had been thousands of years, yet she was still bringing up that matter.
Sun Wukong said with a smile, “Sister-in-law, big brother risked his life to save you today.
He nearly fell for the Nine-tailed Fox’s bewitching technique.
Don’t blame big brother like this.”
The Nine-tailed Fox?
The Iron Fan Immortal looked at the Ox Demon King with a face full of suspicion.
She was super sensitive to foxes—The Nine-tailed Fox was far more advanced than the Jade-Faced Fox by who knows how much.
That was a demonic beast of legend, a great demon comparable to ancient gods.
In terms of seductive arts and strength, it far surpassed the Jade-Faced Fox.
“Old Ox, if you dare to cheat on me again, I’ll castrate you.”
The Iron Fan Immortal warned.
The Ox Demon King’s legs trembled, as he hurriedly shook his head.
Even now in his elevated status, the thought of the Iron Fan Immortal terrified him no end.
“Alright, I can prove that big brother truly has no interest in the Nine-tailed Fox.
Just now he even wanted to nip that budding flower in the bud.
Big brother really only has affections for elder sister-in-law.”
Sun Wukong explained.
Only then did the Iron Fan Immortal’s expression ease into a smile, saying, “I believe my brother, and I’ll trust Old Ox this one more time.”
The Ox Demon King chuckled bitterly, shooting Sun Wukong a glare.
If not for his careless talk, the Iron Fan Immortal wouldn’t have suspected him in the first place.
He was also at fault for his youthful frivolities, abandoning his wife and child.
They ascended together, reaching the outside world.
When they saw the state of the Sky Scraping Cave, Iron Fan Immortal had a somewhat wistful expression.
All of Ox Demon King’s underlings had died, even their former companions, not a single one left, all killed.
Facing those Celestial Immortal Demon Kings, ordinary demons had no chance to fight back, not the slightest power to resist.
“With the Three Realms in such disarray, big brother might as well come to my Huaguo Mountain.
We can look out for each other that way.”
Sun Wukong considered it before saying.
The Ox Demon King had now become a Heavenly Venerate too, but if he were alone out there, he could easily become the target of a hunt.
After all, Kunpeng is a Great Heavenly Venerate, with so many strong subordinates.
If he set his sights on you, there weren’t many who could confidently say they would get away unscathed.
Only the likes of Zhenyuan, a Great Heavenly Venerate, and Sun Wukong, among the stronger Heavenly Venerates, would dare say they wouldn’t fear Kunpeng coming to cause trouble.
The Ox Demon King shook his head, chuckling bitterly, “I’m planning to go to South Sea Guanyin to stay with Red Boy, where even if something happens, the three of us can look out for each other.
Besides, with Guanyin Bodhisattva’s protection, there would be no fear of others looking for trouble.”
He was too on his own in this era, even as a Heavenly Venerate, he couldn’t confidently say he’d survive for sure.
Sun Wukong nodded slightly, saying, “That’s also good, go find Guanyin Bodhisattva.
I’ll make a trip to Mount Ling.”
The Ox Demon King looked puzzled.
What was Sun Wukong going to Mount Ling for?
“The Tathagata made his move last.
I’m going to teach him a lesson,” Sun Wukong stated earnestly.
The Ox Demon King: “…”
Sun Wukong went on, “Last time I went there, I killed a few irrelevant fellows.
This time, I’ll try to kill Venerable Ananda or Mahakasyapa.
Anyway, if the old Tathagata strikes at me once, I’ll kill several of his people.
Let’s see how long he can hold out.”
The Ox Demon King was speechless, giving Sun Wukong a thumbs up.
In all of the Three Realms, no one else carried such domineering presence except for Sun Wukong.
“Let Old Ox accompany you,” the Iron Fan Immortal suggested.
Causing a huge disturbance at Mount Ling wasn’t something said lightly; it could end with being detained there indefinitely.
If the Ox Demon King accompanied him, there would at least be a greater chance of fighting their way out.
Laughing, Sun Wukong replied, “Sister-in-law, I know you care about Old Sun, but rest assured, Old Sun is now in the realm of Heavenly Venerate.
They won’t take Old Sun down that easily.
Besides, causing a disturbance has always been Old Sun’s forte; there won’t be any trouble.
If Old Ox followed, he’d only slow me down.”
Hearing Sun Wukong’s words, the Iron Fan Immortal shot Old Ox a contemptuous glance, saying, “See, you’re only concerned about beauty all day long, and now even your brother thinks you’re a hindrance.
If you don’t make an effort, you’re going to waste away.”
Old Ox wore a glum expression, feeling disgruntled at being scorned by his own wife and not daring to lose his temper.
But Sun Wukong spoke up for the Ox Demon King, “Sister-in-law, you’ve misunderstood Old Ox.
He is already a Heavenly Venerate now.”
“Really?”
The Iron Fan Immortal’s eyes lit up.
Being a Heavenly Venerate was entirely different from not being one.
Once one became a Heavenly Venerate, the attitudes of the Immortal Gods of the Three Realms would change even towards a demon like the Ox Demon King.
Reaching this step, one’s roots and heritage didn’t matter anymore,
Anyone who became a Heavenly Venerate deserved respect.
“That’s right, Old Ox is now a Heavenly Venerate and hasn’t brought you any dishonor,” Old Ox proudly asserted.
The Iron Fan Immortal’s expression finally softened a bit, and with a smile, she said, “Since you’ve become a Heavenly Venerate, you’d better be more careful with your actions in the future, so as not to become a laughingstock.”
Old Ox: “…”
He sighed, knowing that in his wife’s eyes, it was always time for him to be chastened.
Sun Wukong bade them farewell and went straight to Mount Ling.
The grand hall of Mount Ling had been repaired, and the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha was preaching.
As he spoke of profound matters, the listeners were enraptured.
Just then, the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha suddenly opened his eyes, a look of wrath crossing his face.
A thick staff as big as a grinding disk smashed down, and half of the newly repaired grand hall of Mount Ling collapsed once more.
Some of the monks of Mount Ling with lower cultivation exploded on the spot, their bodies and souls annihilated.
“Sun…
Wukong…”
The Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha roared, punctuating every word, nearly shouting with all his might.
The Jingu Bang shrunk, held in Sun Wukong’s hand as he swung it towards the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha.
“Why shout for Grandpa Sun?”
A dissatisfied voice from Sun Wukong rang out.
Virudhaka Bodhisattva stepped forward, wielding the Vajra Pestle of Virudhaka, directly blocking the way.
But this time, he failed to block Sun Wukong’s assault and was sent flying himself.
He flew toward the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha and looked like he was about to crash into him.
“Hmph.”
With a cold snort, the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha deployed his mana and caught Virudhaka.
A pair of icy eyes glared at Sun Wukong as the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha said through gritted teeth, “Sun Wukong, do not go too far in your bullying.”
Ananda and Mahakasyapa stepped forward, attacking Sun Wukong.
The Four Heavenly Kings also took action, and five hundred arhats exerted their power together.
They were determined to capture Sun Wukong.
Sun Wukong let out a cold laugh, his supernatural power surging, skyrocketing to an astonishing level.
To the astonishment of everyone present, he swung his staff with force.
All the assaults from the sky were blocked by Sun Wukong.
Afterward, Sun Wukong charged at Ananda and Mahakasyapa, disciples of the Buddhas.
“Rascal Monkey, how dare you be so arrogant, watch me capture you.”
Ananda formed the Demon-Subduing Seal, daring to face Sun Wukong alone.
Seeing this, the color drained from the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha’s face.
He had sensed the change in Sun Wukong and knew it boded ill,
“Come back,”
the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha called out, simultaneously rushing forward himself.
Ananda, perplexed, did not heed the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha’s command.
Repeated provocations by Sun Wukong had enraged him.
With a cold laugh, Sun Wukong’s Golden Hoop Staff descended, colliding with Ananda’s Demon-Subduing Supernatural Powers.
Endless mana surged from him, flowing into the Golden Hoop Staff, making its might even more terrifying.
Thud.
With a strike, Ananda was shattered to pieces, completely obliterated.
Upon witnessing this scene, everybody’s hearts leapt with fear.
That was Venerable Ananda, whose power was no less than that of any Great Bodhisattva.
As the second ancestor of the Buddhist Ancestry and one of the ten principal disciples of the Buddha, his supernatural power and skills were inscrutable, a true Grand Sorcerer within the Buddhist Sect.
Yet, on this day, he was blown apart by a single blow from Sun Wukong.
“Everyone, fall back, he has become a Heavenly Venerate,”
the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha’s voice announced, and people finally awoke as if from a dream.
Heavenly Venerate,
Sun Wukong had actually stepped into the realm of Heavenly Venerate, no wonder he was so domineering, slaying Venerable Ananda with a single swing.
Buddhist fighters below the level of Celestial Immortal all retreated to the side, as this battle was no longer something they could partake in.
Even the powerful beings who had reached the level of Celestial Immortal were now trembling, their gazes filled with apprehension looking at Sun Wukong.
The Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha did not make a move, as he was uncertain of capturing Sun Wukong.
Staring at Sun Wukong, he asked coldly, “Why do you attack my Mount Ling again?”
The Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha was surprised, for he had not provoked Sun Wukong recently.
After their last failed attempt to encircle him, he had not taken any action, waiting for an opportunity.
Yet, Sun Wukong had still come to his doorstep.
Sun Wukong sneered, “Stop pretending, just now Tathagata interfered, blocking Old Sun, letting Old Sun’s enemy escape.
I’ve come to kill a few of your people at Mount Ling.
You tell Tathagata, if he thinks he has enough followers, he can keep provoking me.
I wonder how many of you will be left in the end.”
Everyone understood that Sun Wukong had come for revenge.
The Buddha had struck him, and since he could not touch the Buddha himself, he killed the Buddha’s followers.
The crowd was left speechless by this; naturally, they had to bear the consequences of their leader’s provocations, which was only right.
The Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha was silent, staring at Sun Wukong, he said coldly, “Wukong, actually, Mount Ling does not wish to be your adversary, and we hope you will not oppose us either.
If you agree, I will ensure that Buddha does not strike at you ever again.”
Sun Wukong could not help but laugh.
Pointing the Golden Hoop Staff at the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha, he said, “Lamp-Burning, let Old Sun tell you, it’s not that Old Sun wants to oppose your Mount Ling, but rather your Mount Ling has provoked Old Sun, and Old Sun won’t let you off for that.
Whatever Tathagata wants to do, Old Sun will oppose him openly.
After imprisoning Old Sun for thousands of years, now you keep attacking Old Sun again.
Do you really think Old Sun has no temper?”
The Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha sighed.
The conflict between Sun Wukong and the Buddhist Sect had become irreconcilable.
“This time, slaughtering Ananda was just a lesson for you.
Feel free to strike at Old Sun again, and each time you do, Old Sun will come and strike back.”
Having said that, Sun Wukong strode away.
