The Arhat Dragon-Subduing cast his gaze over the crowd and asked, “Who was it that just made a move?”
A Bodhisattva stepped forward, tremblingly saying, “Honored one, it was Sun Wukong and He Xiangu.”
“Them?”
The Arhat Dragon-Subduing furrowed his brows.
Others might not know, but he was naturally aware that yesterday the Macaque King and his group surrounded Sun Wukong, yet Wukong had managed to escape.
The Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha had even notified him, warning him to be wary of Sun Wukong’s retaliation.
The Arhat Dragon-Subduing had been contemplating how to set up defenses to prevent Wukong from actually seeking revenge.
Yet before he could finish his preparations, Sun Wukong had already struck.
This monkey’s desire for retaliation was indeed very strong.
With that in mind, the Arhat Dragon-Subduing said, “Conduct a thorough patrol, I will ask the Buddha of the East to come and preside over this place.”
“Yes.”
The Bodhisattva quickly responded and then rapidly began making arrangements.
This place was under the charge of the Arhat Dragon-Subduing, and although he was but an Arhat, he was one of the two most special ones among the five hundred Arhats.
The cultivation level of Arhat Dragon-Subduing was at the peak of Celestial Immortal, the same level as that of a Great Bodhisattva.
Though he bore the name of an Arhat, in the Buddhist Realm, his status was second only to that of a Great Bodhisattva.
Ordinary Bodhisattvas had to pay their respects to him.
Dragon-Subduing left to invite the Buddha of the East.
If Sun Wukong were to come again, only the Buddha of the East and the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha would be able to firmly suppress him.
At this moment, the Lamp-Burning Ancient Buddha had other matters to attend to, so he could only invite the Buddha of the East to come.
After the fight, Sun Wukong entered the Yellow Springs Nether Sea.
Upon hearing of his arrival, General Yinggou immediately went to greet him.
When he saw He Xiangu, a hint of amazement flashed in his eyes; she was an exceedingly beautiful woman.
His eyes fell on Sun Wukong, and pointing to He Xiangu, General Yinggou asked, “Brother, could it be that this lady is your younger sister?”
Sun Wukong had just picked up a cup of tea and finished it in one gulp.
When he heard Yinggou’s words, he nearly choked.
“No, she’s a friend of mine, also known as He Xiangu, one of the Eight Immortals of the Upper Grotto along with Lu Dongbin, following me for convenience in handling some matters,” explained Sun Wukong.
Yinggou gave a knowing look, which rendered Sun Wukong even more speechless.
By the look on his face, it was clear he had gotten the wrong idea.
He Xiangu said with a smile, “General Yinggou, the Great Saint has a heroic spirit, and this Immortal Maiden has the grace of a willow; he does not take notice of me, so you need not think too much.
There really is nothing between the Great Saint and me.”
Seeing He Xiangu also say this, Yinggou believed it.
He patted Sun Wukong’s shoulder, sighing, “Brother, it’s your loss then.”
Sun Wukong: “…”
Yinggou did not continue the topic, but shifted the conversation and asked, “I sensed some disturbance at the Ghost Gate Pass just now, it wouldn’t be your doing, would it?
What have you done?”
Sun Wukong related the events once again.
Yinggou said with a cold laugh, “The Buddhist Realm acts so repulsively?
Brother, how about I help you drive them out of the Netherworld?
It’s not a difficult task anyway.”
He Xiangu was surprised; Yinggou was indeed too domineering.
In his words, driving the Buddhist Realm out of the Netherworld was as easy as shooing away a dog.
Sun Wukong actually considered it seriously for a moment but then shook his head in refusal.
“If the Heavenly Court controls the Netherworld, your days will be even harder, brother.
Let the Heavenly Court handle the Buddhist Realm’s matters.
I just want to retaliate against them, to beat them until it hurts is enough,” he said.
“Alright, haha, let’s not think about these vexing matters, let us drink,” Yinggou raised his cup.
At the Ghost Gate Pass, Maitreya Buddha arrived swiftly.
He immediately asked, “Have you found out where Sun Wukong went?”
“He should be at the Yellow Springs Nether Sea.
He has a good relationship with Yinggou; they’ve even joined forces to besiege Kunpeng in the North Sea before.”
The Tiger-Subduing Arhat replied.
Ying Hook.
Hearing this name, a shadow of gloom flashed across the eyes of Maitreya Buddha.
Now, Ying Hook was the thorn in their sides.
As long as the Yellow Springs Nether Sea did not fall into their hands, it was as if the Buddhist Realm had not truly taken control of the Netherworld.
“We are going to the Yellow Springs Nether Sea.”
Maitreya Buddha declared.
The Arhat Dragon-Subduing’s face changed slightly, and he was about to dissuade, but seeing the serious look on Maitreya Buddha’s face, he closed his mouth.
Maitreya Buddha had already made a decision, and further persuasion would only bring discomfort to himself.
Above the Yellow Springs Nether Sea, powerhouses from the Buddhist Realm descended.
The Poison Dragon Demon King burst forth from the Nether Sea, and bellowed loudly, “Who comes unbidden?
Why do you intrude upon my Yellow Springs Nether Sea?”
The Arhat Dragon-Subduing stepped forward, brought his hands together, and said in a clear voice, “Maitreya Buddha seeks an audience with the Lord of the Yellow Springs Nether Sea.”
Maitreya Buddha?
A jolt shook the heart of the Poison Dragon Demon King.
This was the Future Buddha of Mount Ling, claimed to be the Buddha of the East, with strength formidable to the extreme.
He hesitated for a moment before saying, “Wait here, I will send a message.”
The Poison Dragon Demon King immediately plunged into the Yellow Springs Nether Sea to deliver the announcement.
“He really dared to come.”
Ying Hook sneered with disdain on his face.
“Tell that fat pig Maitreya, if he doesn’t want to die, he should get lost.
I have no interest in seeing him.”
The Poison Dragon Demon King hurried to relay the message.
Of course, when he met Maitreya Buddha and the others, he didn’t dare to echo Ying Hook’s words, only telling Maitreya Buddha that Ying Hook was currently occupied and couldn’t meet with him.
The expression on Maitreya Buddha’s face darkened as he said indifferently, “I have come to seek the Lord of the Nether Sea because a villain has attacked our Buddhist Realm, killing our mighty ones.
Someone saw him escape into the Yellow Springs Nether Sea, so I kindly ask the Lord of the Yellow Springs Nether Sea to hand the person over to us.”
Instantly, the Poison Dragon Demon King knew that Maitreya Buddha was referring to Sun Wukong and He Xiangu.
Expecting Ying Hook to hand someone over was utterly preposterous.
The expression on the Poison Dragon Demon King’s face also turned chilly as he said indifferently, “The Yellow Springs Nether Sea does not harbor the persons you seek, Buddha.
You may leave.”
“What if I insist on entering to apprehend the perpetrators?”
Maitreya Buddha inquired.
He stared at the Poison Dragon Demon King, radiating immense authority.
The Poison Dragon Demon King felt an overwhelming pressure, his body trembling.
Facing a being on the cusp of becoming a Great Heavenly Venerate, he naturally couldn’t withstand the deliberate aura of dominance.
“Maitreya, if you don’t rein in your aura, I guarantee you won’t live through today.
Do you believe me?”
An icy voice rang in Maitreya Buddha’s ear—it was Ying Hook speaking.
Everything about his tone conveyed Ying Hook’s rage.
Maitreya Buddha’s machinations had angered Ying Hook.
Maitreya Buddha squinted his eyes, staring at the Poison Dragon Demon King, his expression fluctuating uncertainly.
But within three breaths, his expression became a smile as he said, “General Ying Hook misunderstands; I merely seek to capture the villain who slew our powerful ones in the Buddhist Realm.
I have no intention of offending General Ying Hook.”
“Since that is so, you can leave now.
I don’t wish to see you.”
The domineering voice of Ying Hook came forth.
Maitreya Buddha’s features stiffened; despite his politeness, he had not expected Ying Hook to remain so discourteous.
Taking a deep breath, Maitreya Buddha snorted coldly, leading the people of the Buddhist Realm as they turned away to leave.
“Bluff and bluster, utterly nonsensical.”
Ying Hook’s voice resonated above the Yellow Springs Nether Sea, filled with scorn.
Maitreya Buddha’s body trembled; he clenched his fists but ultimately did not turn back.
The time to openly confront Ying Hook had not yet come.
