Journey to the West: Great Saint Equal to Heaven
Chapter 93 - 93 93 Brown-nosing
93: Chapter 93 Brown-nosing 93: Chapter 93 Brown-nosing Beneath the Yellow Springs Nether Sea, Ying Hook shook his head and said, “There are no heroes in the Buddhist Realm.”
Sun Wukong curled his lip, scoffing as he spoke.
“They think too much, do too little, always talking about how ‘all is emptiness,’ yet filled with desire.
They’re good with their mouths, not bad with their hands, but they lack a certain vigor.”
Ying Hook also had a rather low opinion of the people from the Buddhist Realm.
Had it been him just now, subjected to such humiliation, he absolutely wouldn’t have been able to endure it; he would have definitely taken action.
“But, these bald donkeys are sly, so never let your guard down.
They might stab you in the back at any moment.”
Sun Wukong cautioned.
Having suffered at their hands, he was very wary of the people from the Buddhist Realm.
These fellows were top-notch when it came to doing mischief behind the scenes.
Ying Hook let out a cold laugh and said, “I’ve been on guard against them.
I’m not a vegetarian; under my command, there are countless big demon fiends and fierce ghosts.
Unless the Buddhist Realm does not want the Netherworld anymore, they wouldn’t dare to conflict with me.”
“If anything happens, just call me.”
Sun Wukong said.
Ying Hook nodded slightly, and said with a smile, “Come, let’s not talk about these vexing matters.
Let’s drink.
Once we’re done, we’ll go mess with them again.”
“Good.”
Sun Wukong smiled faintly.
He Xiangu was also excited, more eager than either of the two men.
This rendered them both amused and bewildered.
Ying Hook looked at He Xiangu with a gaze full of admiration.
He really liked this kind of personality.
Iron Blockhead ended up pulling He Xiangu away with a look of regret, saying, “If only you were not a woman, I would have sworn brotherhood with you.
Your disposition is just too refreshing.”
He Xiangu gave him a cold glare, for the first time doubting her own beauty.
Sun Wukong was one thing, but Ying Hook, who had once been of the Human Race, also only wanted to swear brotherhood with her.
Could it be that she really looked that much like a man?
She conjured a water mirror and looked at her reflection within.
No matter how she saw it, it was extremely beautiful; even among those in the Heavenly Palace, not many could surpass her in looks.
Ultimately, He Xiangu came to a conclusion: the more powerful gods, immortals, and demons are, the more they tend to be defective in the brain.
The drinking feast here continued, and Sun Wukong and the others were getting somewhat drunk.
Maitreya Buddha returned to Ghost Gate Pass, his face ashen.
“Buddha, give the order.
Let’s flatten the Yellow Springs Nether Sea.”
A Bodhisattva couldn’t help but speak, his face filled with anger.
The insult to Maitreya Buddha was no different from an insult to the whole of Mount Ling.
Maitreya Buddha gave him a look and cursed, “Get lost.”
Upon being cursed at, the color drained from the Bodhisattva’s face as he stepped back.
Maitreya Buddha took a deep breath before speaking, “Ying Hook is not that easy to kill.
He’s more troublesome than Sun Wukong with an immortal zombie body, a powerhouse at the pinnacle of Heavenly Venerate, just a step away from ascending to Great Heavenly Venerate.
Within our Buddhist Realm, apart from a very few like Amitabha Buddha and Tathagata Buddha, none are certain to suppress him.
You think he’s that easy to kill?”
“Even Buddha is unsure against Ying Hook?”
Tiger-Subduing Venerable asked, a look of shock on his face.
After glancing at Tiger-Subduing Venerable, Maitreya Buddha’s expression somewhat softened.
He said coldly, “If I were to forcefully obliterate Ying Hook, I would still have more than a seventy percent chance of succeeding, but there would be a ninety percent chance that I would die along with him.”
Upon hearing this, the expression on Tiger-Subduing Venerable’s face changed slightly.
“That won’t do.
You are our Mount Ling’s Future Buddha and one of the pillars holding up the Buddhist Realm.
How can Ying Hook’s worthless life compare to yours?”
Dragon-Subduing glanced at Tiger-Subduing, thinking to himself how skillful the latter was getting at ass-kissing.
The corners of Maitreya Buddha’s mouth turned up slightly, revealing a hint of a smile.
He quite enjoyed these words.
Although he knew that Tiger-Subduing Arhat was probably just flattering him.
Maitreya Buddha said with a smile, “The Venerable is right; how could a mere demon from the Demon Dao be compared with me?
I must preserve myself for a useful purpose, to strengthen the Buddhist Realm until it reigns supreme over the Three Realms.”
The Tiger-Subduing Arhat exclaimed, “The Buddha has great vision and is a role model for us all.
We must learn well from him.”
Maitreya Buddha became even more pleased and patted the Tiger-Subduing Arhat on the shoulder.
“You’re not bad either.
Once the Buddha returns to his position, I will commend you for your merits; you shall at least have a Buddha’s seat.”
The Tiger-Subduing Arhat smiled and said, “It is all thanks to Maitreya Buddha’s guidance.
Tiger-Subduing does not dare to take credit.”
“Haha.”
Maitreya Buddha laughed heartily, casting aside the slight displeasure of a moment ago.
The corner of the Dragon-Subduing Venerable’s mouth twitched; he almost wanted to roll his eyes.
It was truly nauseating.
Did these two not realize that their conversation was giving everyone goosebumps?
The surrounding strong practitioners of the Buddhist Sect, aside from looking envious, showed no signs of disgust.
The Dragon-Subduing Arhat sighed inwardly.
The Buddhist Realm was no longer the Buddhist Realm of the past; the world had changed, as had the Buddhas of the Buddhist Realm.
All is empty?
Heh, he didn’t even believe it himself.
“Please, Buddha, take command at the Ghost Gate Pass.
That Sun Wukong is most likely to come again; when he does, may Maitreya Buddha stop him.”
Dragon-Subduing reminded.
Maitreya Buddha looked at the Dragon-Subduing Venerable with dissatisfaction.
He had been praised so much that he almost forgot about the existence of Sun Wukong.
But the words of the Dragon-Subduing Venerable brought him back to his senses.
Maitreya Buddha said lightly, “Don’t worry, with me here, Sun Wukong won’t be able to rebel against the heavens.
Dragon-Subduing Venerable need not be concerned.”
Dragon-Subduing noticed Maitreya Buddha’s dissatisfaction, but there was nothing he could do about it.
Some things had to be said, and with his hands clasped together, he retreated.
Tiger-Subduing cast a mocking glance at the Dragon-Subduing Venerable, sneering inwardly.
The Dragon-Subduing Venerable thought he was doing everything for the Buddhist Realm, but he didn’t realize that there were many within the Buddhist Realm who despised him.
He was too righteous, and such a person was unlikely to be liked in the Buddhist Realm.
The Dragon-Subduing Venerable was aware of this and didn’t care; having a clear conscience was enough for him.
“With the Buddha here, what Sun Wukong?
He wouldn’t dare come; he’s already scared off by the mere mention of it,” said the Tiger-Subduing Arhat with a laugh.
Only then did Maitreya Buddha show a hint of a smile; Tiger-Subduing Arhat’s words were pleasing to hear.
Maitreya Buddha was aware of his purpose for being there.
He hadn’t completely disregarded his duties but was stationed at the Ghost Gate Pass, watching the Yellow Springs Nether Sea closely.
As soon as Sun Wukong appeared, he would act immediately.
Ying Hook could prevent him from going to the Yellow Springs Nether Sea but could not stop him from capturing Sun Wukong.
Otherwise, he would be making an enemy of the Buddhist Realm.
Three days later, Ying Hook inquired about Sun Wukong’s plans.
“I’ll hit the Ghost Gate Pass again, and then go and attack Mount Ling,” said Sun Wukong, revealing his plans.
“With Maitreya Buddha stationed there, are you confident?” Ying Hook asked, somewhat concerned.
Being a strong practitioner of the Heavenly Venerate Realm himself, he knew how strong Maitreya Buddha was.
Sun Wukong smiled and said, “Just watch.
Maitreya Buddha might be powerful, but his intelligence isn’t quite up to par.
Old Sun will trick him first.”
Ying Hook’s eyes suddenly lit up.
He looked forward to Sun Wukong with anticipation, saying with a smile, “I await the spectacle.”
Sun Wukong chuckled, his smile mischievous.
