However, these Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were secretly puzzled. Why did Tathagata convene this Great Buddha Assembly and gather all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas here?

“Amitabha!”

Once everyone had assembled, Tathagata recited a Buddhist chant, and his eyes that were looking downward began to slowly open!

Upon hearing Tathagata’s chant, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas present immediately straightened their faces into solemn expressions, avoiding further words!

“Everyone!”

Tathagata cast his gaze over all present and said: “Today, I have summoned you here for one matter! It concerns the prosperity of our Buddhist Sect!”

“The current state of the Three Realms, surely all of you understand, yes?”

Tathagata’s words brought a smile to the faces of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas present!

The situation of the Three Realms is one that everyone is naturally aware of!

The Heavenly Court is waning, its decline is an inevitable fate!

The Jade Emperor has not only lost control over the Human Realm, but recently even the Yin Emperor of the Netherworld is restless!

And with the re-establishment of the Human Emperor, the destiny of the Human Clan has greatly increased! If we use the Sandalwood Merit Buddha as a link, the Buddhist Sect can certainly share in some of the destiny of the Human Clan!

This is what everyone in the Buddhist Sect eagerly anticipates!

Ah, the destiny of the Human Clan! Among the Six Saints, Goddess Nvwa and Supreme Elder Laozi both used the Human Clan’s destiny to validate their path. It shows how abundant the destiny of the Human Clan is!

If the Buddhist Sect can obtain a portion, the benefits are self-evident!

Tathagata, understanding the countenances that the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas exhibited, was well aware of their significance!

He began speaking: “When the Great Journey for Sutras is complete, and Xuanzang transmits the True Scriptures of Tripitaka to the Great Tang in Eastern Land, it will be the day our Buddhist Sect flourishes!”

“Congratulations to the Buddha!”

With Tathagata’s declaration, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas present simultaneously began offering their congratulations to Tathagata.

“This matter is not just my personal joy, it is the joy of everyone here!”

Tathagata said, looking at all the high-ranking members of the Buddhist Sect at the Great Thunder Monastery.

“Well, the Buddha is painting a picture of future prosperity before dealing with the real matter at hand, isn’t it?”

Unlike other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who sat silently, the Golden Hair Lion understood why Tathagata gathered everyone this time, and secretly murmured to himself!

The day when the Sandalwood Merit Buddha arrives at Spirit Mountain and the True Scriptures of Tripitaka are transmitted to the Great Tang in Eastern Land is the day of the Buddhist Sect’s prosperity?

Although the entire Buddhist Sect believes this and even secretly looks forward to it, in Golden Hair Lion’s heart, there is a question mark about this matter!

The Golden Hair Lion knows very well that along the way, the Sandalwood Merit Buddha has been very keen on executing Buddhas of the Buddhist Sect!

Such behavior, upon deeper thought, is truly terrifying!

Now that he is already tied to the Journey to the West Pilgrimage Team, otherwise, with Golden Hair Lion’s courage, he might be inclined to leave the Buddhist Sect altogether!

As Tathagata proceeded, his actions aligned with Golden Hair Lion’s thoughts: after painting a grand picture for everyone to see…

Next, Tathagata continued: “Everyone, don’t be too quick to rejoice! Although the arrival of Xuanzang and his group at Spirit Mountain is a joyful day for our Buddhist Sect, they are still eighteen thousand li away from Spirit Mountain!”

Though Tathagata stated that Xuanzang and his group hadn’t yet reached Spirit Mountain, upon hearing that there were only about eighteen thousand li remaining, the smiles on the faces of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas at the Great Thunder Monastery widened!

To these Buddhas, a journey of just over ten thousand li is not considered far at all!

“Bodhisattva of Golden Light!”

However, seeing the expressions of these Buddhas, Tathagata did not waste words and directed his gaze towards Golden Hair Lion!

“Buddha!” Hearing Tathagata call him, Golden Hair Lion stood up and bowed.

“You are in charge of the Journey to the West for Scriptures. Tell me, how many of Xuanzang’s eighty-one ordeals have been completed so far?”

Upon hearing Tathagata inquire about the ordeals of the Journey to the West, the hearts of all the Buddhas slightly tightened once again!

Vaguely, they seemed to hear the sounds of slaughter and screams!

Among these eighty-one ordeals lie the falls of countless strong ones! Each accompanied by a massacre!

“Reporting to the Buddha! Currently, seventy-two of the eighty-one ordeals in the Journey to the West have been completed! Only nine ordeals remain to be completed!” Golden Hair Lion responded to Tathagata’s words.

These words caused another wave of tension among the Buddhas present!

Only nine ordeals remain?

It seems like just a few more ordeals are left, but filling these final nine ordeals doesn’t come without immense effort!

And one cannot tell how many mighty ones will fall among them!

What is the most terrifying? It is that Xuanzang has now broken through to the quasi-sage level of cultivation!

If he were to respond to a calamity, if Xuanzang took action, who could withstand Xuanzang’s attack?

“All of you, while it is gratifying that the Buddhist Sect is flourishing, there are still nine calamities to face beforehand. Everyone, please discuss this!”

These words made all the Buddhas in the Great Thunder Monastery bow their heads, and no one dared to speak!

Each of them tucked their heads in like quails, wishing they could disappear into a crack in the ground if there was one!

Seeing the reactions of all the Buddhas present, the Tathagata Buddha sighed inwardly!

The Tathagata Buddha certainly understood their thoughts!

Already shocked beyond compare, at this moment Xuanzang has already broken through to the quasi-sage level. If the Tathagata were to name someone to go, it would be akin to pushing them directly into a pit of fire!

The Joyous Buddha had been named previously, but such things can only happen once!

“Everyone, the immeasurable kalpa of the Journey to the West is at its most critical moment. Although the previous battle between deities and humans has filled much of the murderous karma, the calamity is still likely dangerous!”

Seeing that these Buddhas were not speaking, the Tathagata Buddha could only speak out himself.

“What the Buddha says is indeed true!” Upon hearing the Tathagata’s words, all the Buddhas present immediately nodded in agreement.

“Therefore, we can only outwit the upcoming calamities and cannot fight them head-on!” After a brief pause, the Tathagata Buddha continued to speak.

“What the Buddha says is indeed true!”

Hearing these words, all the Buddhas present nodded in agreement, replying in unison!

When the Tathagata said not to fight head-on but to rely on intelligence, all these Buddhas naturally expressed their agreement!

Fight head-on? With the strength of the Journey to the West Pilgrimage Team now, who can fight them head-on?

All are at least at the Daluo Golden Immortal level, very fierce!

Even the mount White Dragon Horse has the power to easily defeat many Buddhas!

The strength displayed by Xuanzang and his team in the previous battle between deities and humans was seen by everyone in the Buddhist Sect!

Of course, what the Tathagata Buddha said was indeed heartfelt!

He has reached the cultivation of a quasi-saint, and has even severed both his Evil Corpse and True Self Corpse, with the Godslaying Spear in hand, as well as the Immortal-Slaying Sword Array…

If a fight really broke out? The Tathagata would consider himself no match for Xuanzang!

How should the other Buddhas create calamities if they do not use intelligence?

The Tathagata Buddha’s gaze swept around at all the Buddhas present once more, contemplating the matters of the upcoming calamities!

Outwardly, everyone agreed with the Tathagata’s words, that intelligence was best!

However, if someone really had to be sent to create the calamities, even with intelligence, these Buddhas were reluctant to go!

After all, who knows if using intelligence would prevent Master Xuanzang from finding and killing them?

“Great Wisdom Buddha!”

After a moment of silence, the Tathagata Buddha spoke!

With the Tathagata’s words, everyone turned to look at one of the Buddhas!

Different from other Buddhas, who were mostly bald, this Great Wisdom Buddha had many curly white hairs, with a head and facial hair all white, looking quite aged!

“Buddha!” Hearing the Tathagata name him, this all-white-haired Buddha calmly stood up and bowed without sadness or joy!

“In our Buddhist Sect, when it comes to wisdom and strategy, you are second to none. Regarding these nine calamities of the Journey to the West for Scriptures, do you have any plans, Great Wisdom Buddha?”

“Amitabha, the calamities of the Journey to the West are crucial to the rise and fall of our Buddhist Sect. If there is a need for my contribution, I naturally have no objection!”

The Great Wisdom Buddha did not plead or shirk, and seriously answered.

“This is excellent! To my knowledge, the cultivation level of the Great Wisdom Buddha has reached the late stage of the Great Luo, has it not?”

“If this matter is accomplished, and when Xuanzang and his team reach Spirit Mountain, upon the grand ceremony of canonization, you shall be conferred the title of Great Wisdom King Buddha!”

As soon as he said this, the expressions of many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the Great Thunder Monastery changed.

However, none of them voiced any objections!

The Great Wisdom Buddha’s cultivation level is already very high! With the Lapis Lazuli King Buddha having fallen, if there is to be another King Buddha, the Great Wisdom Buddha is indeed a strong contender!

Using this matter of creating the calamities as an opportunity to promote him to Great Wisdom King Buddha is indeed reasonable!

“Amitabha, thank you, Buddha!”

Hearing the Tathagata Buddha’s promise, the Great Wisdom Buddha’s expression remained calm as he replied!

No fear was seen when he was named, and no joy was seen upon receiving such a promise!

Such a state of mind, not by things pleased, nor for oneself saddened, made many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas secretly admire him!

However, Golden Hair Lion noticed that the Great Wisdom Buddha just sat down without mentioning how to create the calamities…

After hesitating in his heart for a moment, he spoke up, “May I ask the Great Wisdom Buddha? This matter of creating calamities, shouldn’t we discuss this thoroughly together? Does the Great Wisdom Buddha have any plans?”
