Jyera World Apocalypse
Chapter 37: Type: Vanguard (Part 1)
CHAPTER 37: TYPE: VANGUARD (PART 1)
Before the Great Unification of Jyera, when the world was still ruled by many Kings, Presidents, and Emperors. The Hattori Mafia was one of the most famous and well-known mafias in the world. Coming from a group of islands in the far west, its tentacles were spread throughout every country in the world. If there was any criminal activity going on, the Hattori would be fully or partially involved in it...
But after the Great Unification, the armies of the entire world lost their purpose, and the new Council of Jyera put these armies to fight and combat organized crime worldwide. The fighting between the two sides lasted for a few years, but the military was very numerous, strong, well-equipped, and had the public’s support.
With no choice and close to being extinct, all the mafias of the world took refuge in the new and most populous city in the world. The new capital of Jyera, Aethoria. In the capital, the mafias became more discreet, bribed government officials, reporters, and other influential people, and in the end, managed to survive and persevere in this new unified world.
But the leader of the Hattori, Kenji Hattori, who had once ruled the entire underworld of Jyera, was not satisfied with sharing this new city with so many inferior criminal groups. Therefore, he started a new war for power.
In the capital, where firearms were strictly controlled, the Hattori distinguished themselves with their powerful martial arts. They also allied with the Slavic Mafia, which was the largest mafia when it came to the number of members, and together, they threw Aethoria into a dark era of gang wars...
When the war ended, there were only 8 criminal groups left in the entire city, but the Hattori were undoubtedly the champions of this war. Not only did they control 1/3 of all illegal activities in Aethoria, but all the other groups paid them protection fees. But so much power and a bad reputation brought the Hattoris into the spotlight of the media, the public, and the police.
Due to public pressure, the Aethoria Police, which at the time was led by Commissioner Nathan and Captain Luis Morales, began a veritable witch hunt against the Hattoris, who were in the news every day for committing various crimes... The Hattoris’ enemies also took advantage of their bad reputation, pushing many crimes that they had committed onto them, making the situation even worse.
This new conflict between the law enforcement agencies and the Hattori mafia ended with the tragic murder of Camila Morales, wife of Captain Luis Morales. This death was portrayed in the media as punishment for the Hattoris’ witch hunt. And consequently, it led to Kenji Hattori being the main suspect in the murder of the captain’s wife.
Given the gravity of the matter and public pressure, the city mayor declared martial law, and the police finally managed to arrest all the alleged leaders of the Hattori Mafia, except for Kenji himself, who was killed during the final confrontation. After that, what followed were many arrests of high-ranking members of the Hattori, most of whom were sentenced to life imprisonment or the death penalty...
With the "end" of the Hattori, all seven remaining mafias began to devour the territories, properties, and clandestine businesses of the dismembered group. But the existence of a young man named Kaito Hattori prevented the mafia from being completely erased from the capital...
Kaito Hattori was Kenji Hattori’s only son; he was only 12 years old when his father died. And he took over the family’s criminal business less than a year after his father’s death when he was 13. But that one year without a leader was enough for the Hattori to almost disappear from the capital.
But Kaito was no ordinary child. Along with his younger adoptive brother Oyibo, who was also his loyal right-hand man. He used his wits to survive and thrive among the city’s powerful. Recruiting new members, abandoning and changing the organization’s foundations and old customs, Kaito Hattori also began to build a legal business empire outside of Aethoria, bringing capital to the new illegal businesses and protecting the Mafia and his family’s remaining assets.
After the miraculous recovery of the Hattori under Kaito’s leadership, the young man, now 21 years old, was preparing to take revenge on all those who had betrayed and conspired against his father... But there was something unexpected that took Kaito by surprise, it was the existence of someone who sought revenge against the Hattori...
The Hattori, who had now barely returned to the top 8 of the city, began to be the target of several police investigations... But it was not just any police officer who was starting this new hunt against them; it was none other than Valentina Morales, the daughter of Captain Luis Morales and Camila Morales, who had supposedly been murdered by her father...
Kaito was smart; he had never personally dirty his hands, and when he did, he never left evidence behind, but that could not be said for his trusted subordinates. Who, over the next few years, were all arrested and convicted by the newly rising Detective of the Aethoria Police.
Valentina wasn’t just after her men, but everything related to the Hattori... Many bank accounts, properties, and other valuables were constantly being taken from the Hattori during criminal investigations. And to make matters worse, the treacherous old men who had attacked her father from the shadows had now made Kaito their new target. Targeting the few legitimate businesses that Valentina couldn’t get her hands on...
Now, years later, Kaito was sitting in a room, while his adopted brother Oyibo gave him a not-so-pleasant report...
"Aniki, the Muroni took over the last casino that our family controlled using the support of Congressman Hugo Torres...
...Last night, the Trinity invaded our last drug-selling territory, they killed one of our drug dealers and injured several other members of our group..."
"Any news from the Slavs?" Kaito asked, hoping for some good news from his father’s supposed allies.
"They’re asking us to give them another 30% of the profits from the underground fights so they can continue supporting our business..."
"THUD"
"Damn traitors, they were the weakest mafia among the eight majors, and they grew to where they are today thanks to my father... Bunch of greedy ingrates!" Kaito growled as he slammed his fist hard on the table next to him.
"The bad news isn’t over yet..."
"Continue..." Kaito sighed.
"The health committee has once again refused the distribution license for the new version of RVY*1. It seems they were pressured by the Aethoria Police once again..."
"How long will that girl blame me for her mother’s death..."
"Aniki... Even we failed to find anything that would exonerate our father..."
"And that’s not all... After they refused the new version of RVY, they also started a new investigation into suspicions of animal cruelty, so our lab will be closed for a few months..."
"Well, we’re guilty of that too, right?"
"Yes, the animal testing didn’t follow some regulations, but the investigation will still delay us—"
"ARGH"
At that moment, Oyibo stopped his speech for no reason, falling to the ground with his hands on his head and feeling pain and difficulty breathing... At the same time, Kaito felt a strange force run through his body, and his eyes began to see a strange blue screen with several sentences:
