CHAPTER 39: TYPE: VANGUARD (PART 3)

Kaito had a big smile on his face, underneath his clothes, a bracelet had been fixed. Inside, it was the space of a large garage that could easily fit two cars. Just this morning, this bracelet was full of drones and other explosive weapons that he had stolen from the factory that had burned down. But now, he had emptied it, leaving only the Energy Core that he had stolen from the City Hall and the Quantum Transmission Antenna.

All of his system’s missions were already complete except for the mission to collect the Combat Suit Prototype that was inside the Police Armory, and weapons and ammunition from the optional missions... Speaking of weapons and ammunition, he had gained a store that was full of them... On the first level of this store, in addition to normal and special ammunition, there were grenades of all types. But they cost his precious Vanguard Points... Kaito wanted to save these precious points to use on the upgrades in the store that was unlocked after he consumed the level 2 crystal he had gained in another mission.

The shop’s upgrades allowed for improved power, accuracy, and range of various types of firearms... And Kaito was eager to test them all...

"We’re here!" Oyibo replied as he parked in front of a business building where his brother had scheduled a meeting with the Muronis. As the two got out of the car and walked slowly toward the building, Oyibo noticed a camera.

"Aniki, we’ll have to take care of that camera..."

"No need, everything will start tomorrow, let’s give Valentina a gift..."

Kaito looked at the camera and gave a beautiful smile before finally entering the building while Oyibo sat outside and waited.

As soon as he entered the building’s reception, two men appeared and searched him, and then took Kaito in an elevator to the basement of the place. There he could see at least 30 important mobsters of the Muroni Mafia, including the current leader, Rizzo, and his younger brother, who was second in command. The leader stood out from the group and approached him.

"Kaito Hattori, I never thought you would come to me to propose a deal in person... It seems like the times—"

"AHHH!"

In the blink of an eye, a katana appeared in Kaito’s hands, and the leader fell to the ground after receiving a deep cut on both knees.

The youngest Muroni brother reacted first and shouted:

"Bastard! KILL HIM!"

"DIE HATTORI!"

"WE WILL MAKE YOU REGRET COMING HERE TODAY!"

Everyone shouted and threatened Kaito, but he showed a calmness he had never felt before today... The power of a level 2 mutant ran through his body, and that new ability he had called "Defense Penetration" allowed him to cut through anything he wanted...

Two minutes later, bodies were lying everywhere in the basement, all of the more than 30 men in the room had been cut and killed by him... Except for their leader, Rizzo Muroni, who was still crawling on the floor with his knees cut, trying to reach the elevator with a terrified face...

"Wait, kid, I’ll do whatever you want... If you want, my family will be at your disposal at any time... Just spare my life..."

"Swish"

"Ahhhh"

Several fingers on his right hand were cut off by Kaito as Rizzo screamed again...

"That was for calling me a kid... Now... Tell me what I want, and I might consider letting you live... Who killed Camila Morales and framed my father?"

"You... Uff, you’re not going to let me live..." Rizzo replied, breathing heavily.

"You’re right, I can kill you quickly, or slowly. And I can also go after your wife and daughter... It all depends on you..."

More fingers were cut off... And Rizzo finally spoke...

Outside, Kaito boarded the vehicle with his brother and remained silent the entire time, until finally Oyibo broke the silence...

"Did you find the weapons?"

Kaito just smiled back and changed the subject...

It must have taken many years for the Muroni to gather all of this within a city like Aethoria, and this proves that they had help from many powerful people as well."

"What’s the plan now?"

Six hours before the apocalypse began, Kaito was in a fancy bathroom, washing his blood-stained hands. He had finally discovered the whole truth behind the death of the Police Captain’s wife and consequently the death of his father, and there were still many people he wanted to personally kill. But right now, none of that mattered anymore...

"If they can still survive what’s going to happen today, then I don’t mind going after them..."

As he left the bathroom, Kaito approached a dead body that was sitting tied to a chair. He drew his sword one last time and decapitated the former Vice Mayor, taking his head with him...

After returning to his apartment, Kaito changed his clothes, armed himself, and put all the drones back into his bracelet. He then went to the police station, where he waited until there were a few minutes left before his mission deadline, and blew up a police car, causing chaos and creating a distraction to lure the police officers out of the building and finally infiltrate the Armory...

Kaito’s surprise upon entering was that the Armory was already open, making him regret the time he had wasted seducing the former Commissioner’s secretary... As for the police officers who were gearing up inside the Armory, they weren’t a problem... Using a bladeless training katana, he knocked them all out and started taking everything he wanted in that place... Unlike the Muroni’s armory, everything in the police armory was new and state-of-the-art...

Kaito felt like he was in a toy store, and he went around taking a little bit of everything. What caught his attention the most was a huge Sniper Rifle... That thing must have easily weighed about 40 kilos and should have been made to take down new generation aircraft and armored vehicles... But with Kaito’s new strength, he lifted the weapon with ease before storing it in his bracelet and went straight for his final prize.

A powerful combat suit...

Kaito didn’t have time to observe the suit, because he heard footsteps behind him, when he turned around he saw that it was his biggest "fan"... With a wave of his hand he put his suit away in his inventory, and ran towards the policewoman who had already drawn her gun and shot him once. His bladeless katana appeared in his hands, and he swung it as if he were going to decapitate the policewoman, but before he could change direction and hit her head, Valentina jumped back inhumanly with wide eyes...

Kaito was surprised; it was the first time since he became a level 2 mutant that someone had managed to dodge one of his blows...

Despite having fun with Valentina and wanting to test her strength even more, Kaito knew he couldn’t waste time here, taking a grenade from his inventory, but not removing its pin, he threw it towards the unconscious policemen, making Valentina scream and run towards them...

"NO!!!"

Without looking back, Kaito used all his strength and speed to flee down the stairs and return to the entrance of the police station. He then saw some of his men who had gone to rescue the young man who had helped him in the drone factory fire, and was being held for questioning, and left with them, heading to a vehicle that was waiting not far from the police station...

Inside the car, Kaito saw the sky turn red and the apocalypse begin... His system also displayed many messages...
