Jyera World Apocalypse
Chapter 41: Type: Sentinel (Part 3)
CHAPTER 41: TYPE: SENTINEL (PART 3)
"When did everything go so wrong?"*1
Valentina thought, as she and her men were all inside the sewers of Aethoria with water up to their knees. And again, it was all her fault... She never imagined that facing the flying man in the sky could end up almost killing her and her men... The worst of all, is that she and her men were only saved because of that despicable man...
"The noise of destruction has stopped. Can we leave now?" Asked one of the twelve police officers who were inside the sewers with her...
"I’ll check on the radio with Bennet..."
"Bennet! Can we go back to the police station now?"
"I think so, the tornadoes have already disappeared from the street and our men can’t see anything in the sky..."
"Okay, we’re leaving, tell the snipers to cover us..."
When Valentina removed the sewer cover and was the first to return to the streets, she finally saw the destruction that the mysterious flying man had caused... When he tried to kill her, it was the power of her system that saved her...
First, it was the Sentinel Field skill that detected the enemy in the sky; this skill marked the man who looked like a human on the outside as a red enemy on her mini map, and it was the Counterattack skill that prevented her from dying to the transparent green blade...
When she survived the terrifying figure, she had also finally gained a lot of Sentinel Points and a Special Ticket as a reward from the system... Sentinel Points were something that she desperately needed... The reason she needed Sentinel Points so urgently started the day she failed to complete all the system missions, and the apocalypse has begun...

By clicking on the skill, a mini map opened like a radar, and Valentina was the center of this skill, showing streets, buildings, and houses. In addition to several red dots in the form of threats. There were sound warnings, coordinates, and she could even adjust them for better observation...
The Sentinel Shop had two levels. The first one had basic survival supplies like water and first aid kits, the second level had many tactical shields and even some medieval ones, modern protective gear, and ancient ones like steel armor, and some reinforcement upgrades for defensive items.
But everything was too expensive... And it was her fault for not completing the missions... Equipping a single person costs almost 1000 points... She was lucky that the police station’s Armory had a lot of these things... So she only needed the generator for now...
"Find someone who knew about the apocalypse in advance? How would I do that? By putting up posters in the city?" Valentina thought frustratedly...
With no choice, she did the basics, initiated the Martial Law protocols, established a perimeter using her ability as a reference, and started sending the police officers to clear all the red dots within her Sentinel Field. Then she began to create barricades, blocking the streets and reinforcing the places she already knew were empty...
After that, when it was about to get dark, Valentina gathered all the police officers who were still at the police station and began giving orders about what they needed to do tomorrow...
"As soon as the day begins, I want you to split into four groups; the first will go look for the police officers who may have survived and who were on duty yesterday, make a smoke signal on top of the police station building, so that they and other civilians know that it is safe here... I want someone from this group to stop by my house, the Commissioner is there, and I asked him to wait safely when everything started..."
"The second group should go to the nearest supermarkets and bring as much food as they can with them, while you are at it, try to find older vehicles that may still be working. If you know of any, you can prioritize that over supplies first."
"I know where there are two such vehicles, Captain. Just give me two men and I will bring them to the police station tomorrow!"
"The third group should remain at the police station with me, reinforcing the perimeter and making the police station and the surrounding buildings a more suitable place to live. We don’t know how long this situation will last, so our priority is our safety and well-being."
"The fourth group will take care of rescuing civilians?" asked an anxious police officer.
"Exactly, you can prioritize your family and loved ones first, but only as the scope of the search expands, and do not refuse help if you find someone injured. We have to maintain order and law if we want to establish a place where people can feel safe..."
"Captain, I can’t wait any longer, my house is too far from the police station, and my son was at home with the babysitter; if she ran away during the chaos, he might be alone now..." Said a detective, leaving his gun and badge on the table, and preparing to leave for the night.
"Captain, two officers disappeared while they were checking the perimeter. They both had children, too, I imagine they abandoned their duty to look for their families."
"Why didn’t you tell me this before?" Valentina asked the police officer nervously.
"Captain, you declared Martial Law. Any officer who abandons his post is a deserter." Said the young police officer, looking threateningly at the man who had left his gun and badge on the table. The other police officers also stared at him, remembering Martial Law, and the Detective began to sweat coldly seeing himself surrounded by threatening eyes, and thought that maybe he should have sneaked out like the other two...
"Valentina advanced towards the deserting Detective, and he began to back away in fear. Everyone watched carefully before they saw one of Valentina’s hands touch his shoulder, and the other grab the gun and badge and return it to him.
"It’s very dangerous to go out to look for someone alone, especially at night. Keep your gun, and wait for the group that will go out tomorrow looking for the police officers, you can prioritize the child before going to my father, okay?"
"Thank you, Captain!" the man said in tears.
A heated discussion soon began among the other police officers, deciding on the groups and also the first places to search, while everyone tried to check even the homes of distant friends and family. Children would be the priority, followed by spouses and then parents...
Valentina watched for a while, and seeing that some Sergeants and Lieutenants had already taken on the duty of leading the groups that were forming, she left the room, deciding to go to bed early, since there was no light at all during the night...
The next day, still at the police station, Valentina was woken up as soon as the sun rose... One of the police officers was holding a bloody box that was said to have been delivered during the night in front of the police station by someone...
"We’ve already checked the box, Captain, it doesn’t have any explosives... It has a message for you..."
When Valentina opened the box, she saw a note on the lid:
(A gift for my greatest admirer!
This is the head of one of Camila Morales’ killers!
PS: I saw that you slept in the dark last night, my hotel has generators and power, feel free to come live with me if you want...
Signed: Kaito Hattori)
Valentina ignored all of Kaito’s jokes and mockery when she read her mother’s name and finally took the person’s head out of the box... To her surprise, the face was well known to her; the Vice-Mayor of Aethoria...
