It was late into the night, the moonlight spilling faintly through the windows of Kakashi's study as he sat at his desk, carefully arranging the sealing materials.
Scrolls were unrolled, chakra ink glowed faintly under his touch, and in a small vial beside him rested the leftover distilled enzymes from Katsuyu's cells an incredible gift Tsunade had handed him after the girls had signed the slug summoning contract that afternoon.
Kakashi looked down at the two sealing tattoos he had begun drawing, lotus petals radiating outward from a central core of swirling kanji, his own invention built on the principles he'd mastered through the Serpent Seal.
Sakura and Karin sat cross-legged in front of him, both watching quietly. Sakura looked nervous but excited. Karin, the usual cheerful self, leaned slightly forward with curiosity shining in her red eyes.
"You sure this won't hurt?" Karin asked, playfully poking at the tools laid upon the table.
"You'll feel a tingle. Maybe a light burn when the chakra syncs. Nothing more." Kakashi chuckled softly.
Then he looked at both of them, more serious now.
"I wanted to do this not because you're just my student or someone I'm responsible for," he began, looking at them with a warm gaze.
"But because you're both family now. Karin, I took you in just to help you, but now you're part of this household. And Sakura… you've grown beyond just being my student. I want you both to have something that marks this growth and gives you strength."
Sakura's breath caught in her throat, and Karin blinked fast, trying to look cool but failing to hide the softness in her expression.
"This seal, is called the Lotus Seal," he said as he lifted the design for both of them to see.
He pointed to the scroll. "It represents rebirth and vitality. Fitting, since both of you are walking new paths."
He placed his palm on the first seal, channeling a thin line of chakra.
"Here's what it does, and why it's special."
"First, it enhances your chakra reserves and your sensory perception. That means you'll not only have more chakra, but you'll also be more aware of your surroundings, chakra, motion, and emotions. All of it."He said as he looked at Karin and Sakura.
Both girls nodded, absorbing his words.
"Second, it heightens your Yang chakra. As you two know, that's what medical ninjutsu relies on. You'll find that healing techniques become easier, stronger, and require less effort." He said.
"So… that'll make me a better medic?" Sakura's eyes lit up.
"Exactly," he said. "But more than that, it ties into the third benefit: chakra amplification. You'll be able to push your chakra further in combat or healing, whether it's a ninjutsu burst or healing someone on the brink of death."
Karin looked impressed now.
"Fourth," Kakashi continued, "it grants regenerative healing. Think of it as a passive healing effect that scales with how much chakra you're channeling. If you're injured, your body will mend itself over time, and faster if you focus chakra into the seal."
Sakura glanced down at her hand, imagining the possibilities.
"And lastly, vitality recovery," Kakashi said, tapping the center symbol. "This part allows you to recover drained life force, not just healing wounds, but restoring your stamina, your cells, your internal balance."
"That's crazy. That's like what my Uzumaki vitality gives… but in a seal?" Karin blinked in awe.
"Not quite as strong as natural Uzumaki resilience, but it gets close when you're in sync with it." He nodded.
"Kakashi-sensei… I mean, Kakashi… thank you."Sakura's voice was soft. Everything she had was thanks to him. She knew as a civilian ninja she wouldn't be here, or get accepted as the Hokage's disciple.
"Yeah. I was just some wandering girl who was about to die in the Chuunin exams when you met me, and even now… this feels like a dream to me." Karin nodded beside her.
"Ready?"He gave them a gentle smile, then raised his hand.
They both nodded.
He began with Karin. The Lotus Seal took form on her upper back, just below the neck, a radiant lotus with flowing tendrils of ink moving like chakra veins. Her body glowed faintly as the seal activated, syncing with her chakra core. She gritted her teeth slightly but then exhaled in relief.
"Whoa, that felt… warm," she muttered, eyes wide.
"Your chakra accepted it easily," he said. "You're strong."
Then he turned to Sakura. Her seal was identical, placed over her sternum. The same glow, the same hum of chakra synchronization. But as hers activated, her green eyes shimmered with tears.
"I can feel it," she whispered. "It's alive. It's like a heartbeat."
Kakashi placed a hand on her shoulder, then looked at both girls.
"You're not alone anymore, Karin." He said as he looked at Karin.
"And you Sakura, are no longer that girl who is easily bullied, both of you are family to me, I mean it," Kakashi said, since he reincarnated and later took over Team 7, he had become fond of these people.
"Well don't make us cry with that stuff, sensei." Karin stood and crossed her arms, trying to look tough again.
"I guess it's okay to cry a little… just this once." Sakura gave a half-laugh, wiping her eyes.
"The Lotus Seal will evolve with you. Over time, it may unlock new capabilities as you push your chakra. But for now, rest. Let it settle." Kakashi smiled, then stood up as he spoke.
"This… really means a lot. You didn't have to do this." Karin touched her seal.
"I did," he said simply. "Because that's what family does."
Suddenly, the door creaked open and Naruto's head poked in.
"Hey! What are you guys doing here? Did you invent something without me again?!"
"Kakashi gave us a new seal! It's called the Lotus Seal!" Sakura turned to him with a big smile.
"Yeah, we're like medical badasses now." Karin grinned.
"What?! I want a flower seal too! Where's my awesome-sounding chakra seal?!" Naruto pouted exaggeratedly.
"Yours is coming. But trust me, it won't be a flower." Kakashi laughed.
To be honest, he had thought about it but he abandoned the idea as Kurama doesn't like foreign things in Naruto's body, so he had no choice but to give up.
"Better be a dragon or something," Naruto grumbled dramatically.
The room was filled with laughter. Sakura and Karin were now glowing, both literally and emotionally. Kakashi looked at them, feeling something deep settle in his chest.
He knew he had changed a lot of things since he transmigrated but he didn't care as all things he had done were for the greater good.
