The blind Uchiha Gin could clearly feel the extreme emotions of the surviving clan members around him. The overwhelming malice surged toward him, weighing on the usually sunny boy's heart.

Even though what happened was not entirely under his conscious control, it was still his power that had brought such pain to the clan.

His uncle, Uchiha Tajima, had not only lost his family but would also face reproach from the clan with no outlet for their rage. Whether he could even keep his position as clan head was uncertain.

"Gin, what did you just say?!"

Worried about him, the girl asked urgently.

"Gin, this wasn't your fault. I fell for the enemy's diversion. If you hadn't stopped them, the clan would've suffered even greater disaster."

At last, after a long silence, Uchiha Tajima spoke. His eyes were vacant.

"No. If I don't step forward to shoulder the blame, the clan will never forgive you," Gin shook his head, his sightless eyes turned toward his uncle.

"You really want to do this?" Tajima frowned, sensing his nephew's resolve. He didn't actually blame him for the tragedy — Gin had already done all he could.

"Well, I can't see anymore anyway. I'm just a cripple now," Gin said self-deprecatingly, already guessing that his overuse of his eyes had made him blind.

"No! I won't accept that! You promised me so many things you haven't done yet — you're not allowed to leave me!"

The girl clung to his frail arm, tears welling in her eyes, not willing to let him go.

"Elder Myō, once I'm gone, take my eyes and transplant them into Kō. That way she won't lose her sight."

Ignoring the girl's pleading, Gin turned his head and spoke to the air.

"…I'm right here," said Uchiha Myō, feeling a pang of sorrow instead of teasing him for his blindness.

Gin had read Uchiha Yao's "Weapon Plan" booklet. The last few pages had a supplement detailing an "Ultimate Weapon" plan: when one weapon's body reached its limit, their Mangekyō could be removed and transplanted into the other, greatly increasing the chance that one person could wield both Mangekyō powers and avoid blindness.

As someone familiar with the story, Gin knew this theory was true. After all, he'd already died once — maybe if he closed his eyes, he'd open them again in another world, maybe even a harem comedy this time!

"Fine," said Myō after a long breath, realizing Gin was determined.

"Kō, I'm sorry… but even without me, you have to live freely. Take my eyes and see the world for me."

In the end, Gin patted the girl's head, his words like hammers on her tender heart.

"No! Please don't! Please!"

He pulled his arm from her grasp despite her humble begging and walked slowly to stand before Tajima.

"I've already lost four loved ones today…" Tajima's voice came.

"I don't want to lose another."

Tajima had always treated Gin as his own son and simply couldn't bring himself to do it.

"Gin, your parents died to save me. If I did this to you now, even your parents in the Pure Land would never forgive me."

He recalled that mission years ago — a botched intel mission that cost many lives. He, Gin's parents, and Gin himself were ambushed. Gin's parents sacrificed themselves so he could escape.

"But…" Gin frowned when he sensed his uncle's refusal.

"I too awakened the Mangekyō."

After losing his beloved family, Tajima too awakened the clan's legendary eyes.

"My Mangekyō technique is called Kotoamatsukami. It can alter people's will."

Gin froze.

His uncle awakened the same Mangekyō as that foolish, good-natured curly-haired idiot from the future.

Then again, Gin himself had gotten Itachi's… so maybe this was fitting.

"I've decided to use Kotoamatsukami to alter everyone's will and make them forget who's responsible for the destruction of the clan grounds," Tajima said, proposing his plan.

"Clan Head, can you really modify that many people's will at once?" Myō asked, skeptical.

Kotoamatsukami had to have limits, otherwise the Uchiha would've long since unified the Warring States.

"Of course not. I can only modify one person at a time, and afterward there's a long cooldown," Tajima admitted.

"But with Gin…" he added, looking at his nephew, who was puzzled.

"???"

"You mean to use his Tsukuyomi?"

Realization dawned on Myō. Gin's Tsukuyomi was highly compatible — it had already worked in tandem with Kō's Yagokoro. So maybe it could also be compatible with something similar like Kotoamatsukami.

"But my eyes…" Gin gestured to his lifeless eyes.

"If he's blind, then Kō should help him with her chakra and ocular power," Myō advised.

The girl hurried to transfer chakra to Gin through the mark on his hand.

"Ahhh~!"

Gin let out an indecent moan as his parched body was filled with her chakra, making the girl blush.

As the cold power slowly infused him, his eyes were able to make out vague outlines again.

"Not very clear, but better than blind," he said, delighted. Then he poured chakra into his eyes and a faint crimson glow returned.

"I can use my Sharingan again!"

Gin felt brimming with strength, his spirit brighter than ever.

"Uncle, let's do it!"

He clenched his fists, feeling power flow through him.

The others were happy for him, except for Myō, who just frowned faintly, studied his wounds, and whispered something into Tajima's ear.

Tajima's face darkened, and his eyes held a trace of apology.

"Gin, have you decided how to alter the clan's will?"

Gin's high spirits quieted. The invasion was the enemy's doing, but his and Kō's loss of control bore an undeniable part of the blame. Tajima's plan would erase the clan's memory of the culprits, but Tajima himself would still remember and carry that pain.

"Then… let everyone hate me," Gin said finally, his eyes determined.

"Even if the clan forgets the truth, I can never forgive myself. Let me bear the guilt alone."

This was the nature of the Uchiha — deep feelings of love that, when lost, became deep hatred.

"Let me atone this way," Gin said resolutely. His heart was big enough to shoulder it.

"You're sure?" Tajima's voice quivered slightly.

"You don't have to…"

He felt a tug at his sleeve. Looking down, Gin met the tearful eyes of the girl. He gently poked her forehead and smiled faintly.

"Kō… forgive me, just this once."
