CHAPTER 201: SUMMER BREAK MEI MEI.

Mei Mei walked down the stairs, yawning and stretching her hands. It was 11:00 a.m and she had slept in because her night had been very short after paying a visit to officer Jiang Meng and because the summer vacation had officially started and schools were on a break. So, there was no need to rise early.

Marching outside to the gardens next to Mingzhu’s play house, she set off a popper.

"Hahaha...IT’S OVER!!!" She screamed.

Mingzhu, Lian, Mi Mi and four other little girls peeked out of the windows of the play house. Long Wen who had been brought over by the empress mother put down the German language novel she was reading.

Chi Lian scoffed.

All the elders of the Jun and Chi family that were sitting around a table in the gardens, grooming dogs grimaced.

Madam Feng peeped out of the kitchen window.

Jingzhe looked down from the balcony of his bedroom.

The family pets rushed outside, dogs barked, cats meowed, Meow Meow screeched, displeased to be woken from her sleep. The geese ignored the chaos and the wolf found the bone General Big Yellow had hidden.

Mei Mei took off her slippers and threw them in the air. "Woooh!" She shouted and twirled.

Mingzhu sighed as if she was the most tired little girl in the world. "Ignore her, my mom does this every time there is a school break."

Mei Mei took another popper from her pocket and she set it off. She got snow spray from the pocket and sprayed it everywhere, laughing like a maniac.

"No more Monday morning Mingzhu, no more 6:00 a.m breakfast negotiations, no more 5:00 am. wake ups, no crying in the bathroom, no more mismatched socks! No more invitations to school disciplinary committees, no bandaging wounds, no hospital trips, no school project deadlines, no forgotten permission slips and no fuck....."

"Mei Mei!!!!" At least a dozen people screamed at the same time.

"There are children here." Chi Lian threw an apple at her daughter,

Mei Mei caught it with one hand and a sheepish smile on her face.

"Sorry...sorry...I got carried away."

Mingzhu rolled her eyes. She knew what her mother was going to say. This victory school break rant her mother did was a thing that she had witnessed many times. She was going to say the bad word and finish off with lunch boxes.

The reason why Mingzhu knew that it was a bad word was because her mother always told her to cover her ears when she got to that part. But, even though she covered her ears, temptation sometimes got the better of her and she formed small gaps in her ears to hear what her mother did not want her to hear.

And then, Mei Mei did another unbelievable thing. She got a small hand sized portable speaker from her pocket and turned on music.

"Boom, boom, boom, boom..." She sung and danced. She picked up General Big Yellow in her arms and danced the cha-cha with the dog.

Lian looked at Mingzhu with amazed eyes. "Your mother is cool."

"My mother loves the summer break...every school break, but mostly the summer break." Mingzhu answered.

"I like summer break." Mi Mi said. It was when she took a break from acting as well. It was also the time of the year when their family went for vacations.

"Don’t you like summer break?" Lian asked Mingzhu.

Mingzhu shrugged, she was more subdued. "There is not much to do. I would go to the flower shop with mommy and sometimes we would go to the park. I like school better."

Mi Mi put an arm around Mingzhu’s shoulder. "But its different now. You are Jun Mingzhu, a member of the Jun family. The Jun’s and Chi’s always summer together."

"Sometimes that Long’s and Tao’s join us." Lian added. "And the Jang’s...I am Jang."

"I am a Chi." Mi Mi said.

"I am a Jun." Mingzhu said.

Something in what they said made the girls laugh.

"My mom cries when the school break comes around." Jun Shuying said.

She was the daughter of Ringo and Cherry, ten years old and according to everyone in the family, a pain in the ass.

The sound of an alarm ringing drew their attention back to Mei Mei and why watched as she smashed an alarm clock to pieces. Bellowing like a cow on the grassland that was about to give birth.

Chen mama said to madam Feng, "Does the young madam realize that the young miss is only six years old and there is still a long way to go until all the things she says are over are truly over?"

Madam Feng shook her head. "The question should be, does she know that she still has to give me grandchildren so this is only the beginning."

Yinuo, one of the maids said, "Triplets and twins run in the Jun family. Maybe she will have three at once and suffer all these things at once and when she closes the door, it will be closed for good."

Around the table, the elders were also discussing Mei Mei’s celebration.

"Does she realize that she will have to buy a new alarm clock when school resumes."

"I have never seen someone celebrate an eight week holiday this much."

"I used to think that only those that were going to school celebrated school breaks so crazily but I guess I was wrong."

"The most important thing to think about here is this." The empress mother hugged one of her corgi’s tightly as she whispered, "Does she realize that the mighty little peep star is going to share this with the world? We all know how much that paparazzo likes to stalk us. I bet her cameras are on us right now."

"It is not confirmed that it is a ’she.’ It is always he or she in her posts. Nothing about the peepstar’s gender has ever been revealed."

Mei Mei run into the house ans returned with two cans of soda. Screaming loudly, she crushed them over her head and liquid poured down her body.

"Yeah..." she bellowed like a rebel storming the palace gates.

For a second, Chi Lian wondered if she should send her daughter to the royal temple as well. Maybe she needed to do some sweeping and be reminded of all the etiquette she had been taught as a young girl.

Sighing, she did the job she was best at, smiling at everyone while typing into her phone.

Monday morning Mingzhu: The ones that hate Monday and drag their feet every morning just to get through a school day. They celebrate school breaks in pajamas and sleep all day.

Summer break Meilin: The ones who celebrate school breaks like gorillas high on coffee, Red bull, Hi-Tiger, Monster energy and other brands of energy drinks.
