CHAPTER 211: SOME KISSES AND SOME NOBLE TITLES.

"We are safe, nobody is listening to us." Jingzhe declared after his sweep.

Once again, the universe laughed at him. There was a fly shaped small drone camera sitting in one of the sofa’s peeking at them.

Mei Mei sat down and she crossed her legs. "This must be very serious if you are sweeping for bugs. What in the world did you two discuss? Nothing like nuclear launch codes, right?"

Jingzhe sat down too, but quickly, he changed his posture and laid down on her lap, facing up. She placed her hand on his head and patted it.

"Is murder any different from nuclear launch codes?" she asked him.

Mei Mei’s eyes widened a little bit with realization. "Ah, she is still looking for ways to get rid of her daughter-in-law without raising suspicion."

Jingzhe nodded.

She rolled her eyes. "Why can’t she just do the ski trip thing my mother talked about? It’s easy, it’s a tragedy and it unites the empire in mourning. Junjie will give a few speeches with red eyes, have pictures taken of himself hugging his daughters and two years later, we will all join the royal family to welcome a new empress that actually comes from one of the aristocratic families."

"Cold Mei Mei. That is cold." he answered.

She flicked her finger on the tip his nose. "It is not cold, it is practical. Your spaceship explosion idea is genius by the way. It will be better if Mo Liang pilots the space ship. Two birds, one stone."

"Will you mourn him?" Jingzhe tipped his head further back and asked.

Mei Mei burst into laughter. "If I mourn that bastard I fear everyone will know that I killed him. I celebrated the day I filed for a divorce and I wore a white wedding jumpsuit to pick up my divorce certificate. In what universe would I mourn him?"

He lowered his eyes and asked, "Would you mourn me if I died?"

Mei Mei had no idea what had prompted the question but her ears, her mind and an organ in her chest that she preferred not to name were uncomfortable to hear him talk about his death.

She touched his cheek, leaned down and looked directly into his eyes and said, "You are not allowed to die unless I kill you."

Jingzhe chuckled in response. "Is this one of those ’nobody is allowed to bully him except me moments?’"

"You watch too many dramas." She attempted to roll her eyes in that position and failed. "But yes, nobody is allowed to bully you but me."

"Why?" his smile curved upwards even more.

She did not make any bold declarations but instead showed him by kissing him. Never before had she kissed someone in an upside down position, hunched over in a seated forward bend kind of yoga pose.

Even though it was awkward, it did not take away from the sweetness of the kiss. They were in no rush and they took it slow, tasting each other, enjoying the moment.

He thought she tasted like mint and hibiscus, she thought he tasted like honey and chocolate.

Mei Mei was not sure when she did it but her hands found their way inside his shirt, touching his taut abdomen. And she did not know when his lips had left hers but somehow, they found their way to her neck, laying feathery kisses everywhere they could reach.

And she did not know how, but somehow, with incredible athleticism, Jingzhe flipped her over and changed their positions. Somehow, they ended up in a sitting position, him down and her above.

And then, they were kissing again and she was on her way to tearing his shirt off. But it had buttons!!! So many buttons.

In that moment, she knew just as her daughter did. Buttons were evil.

Jingzhe grabbed her hands, he would not let her continue attempting to rip the buttons off his shirt. "Mei Mei....."

The television was turned on suddenly and very loud music cut into the the moment, forcing the pair to freeze. She turned her head back and glared at the square shaped unwelcome intrusion. Who had turned it on?

Meanwhile, Jingzhe buried his head in her chest, trying to catch his breath and calm every excited part of his body.

It took around two minutes for them both to get their senses back one hundred percent and then they separated.

Mei Mei felt a little embarrassed so she climbed off him and sat on the soft cushion. Even though they were in the same chair, she put a little gap between them.

She cleared her throat and said, "We were still talking about the empress. What else did she say to you? Your conversation run really long and it made you frown. I doubt that all you of you traded were strategies for murder."

Massaging his right side shoulder with a single hand, he replied, "She wants me to work for her."

"In what capacity?" Mei Mei frowned.

He shrugged, shaking his head at the same time. "I have no idea what the job entails. The position is of advisor. She also said that she could help me be added to the list of those that will be given noble titles. She can also arrange for me to hold a high position if I wish."

"Woah!" Mei Mei covered the little space she had put between them. "A noble title! Which one? Duke, viscount, baron, earl, marquis?" She stood up and started to pace slowly in front of him. "It cannot be a prince of any rank and obviously not princess. My mother was the last commoner to ever be named a princess. You have to make a very big contribution to the empire for that to happen."

"She helped foil a rebel attempt, discovered several lost treasures and found the first real alien space ship in the world." He mentioned some of Princess or Lady Chi Lian’s achievements.

These facts made him sigh. The empress mother was right, he was in love with the daughter of a great woman. Lady Chi’s accomplishments were not just national but international.

"It could also an honorary title like grand tutor, upright Lord. Or a posthumous title like duke of loyal righteousness, Accomplished lord of this or that. But posthumous titles are granted after death so it cannot be. Let’s return to the first real noble titles. Which one does she want to give you?" Mei Mei put her hands together and grinned. "Mingzhu will surely give a speech at her school and tell everyone that her daddy is a duke or something." She squealed and did little jumps up and and down.

"Stop, I did not say yes." Jingzhe said.
