CHAPTER 223: BUSY SEA CITY.

"Host, don’t bully the weak."

On hearing the response of the system, Mei Mei rolled her eyes. Between the two of them, who was bullying the other? Was it the system that was lounging in the virtual world or the host that had to run around on a treasure hunt and give every treasure to someone else?

"Host, you know he wants it anyway."

Mei Mei remained cold faced. "You heard him talking about the compass and explaining how it led all of those that owned it to disastrous ending. Why should I give it to him?"

"This system would never make a mistake. The choice is yours to make." C4 responded.

"Can you take Mingzhu out of the punishment?" She asked.

"She was added to motivate you." It said.

It was just as she had figured. The system knew that she would be reluctant to hand over the compass and willingly take the punishment. So it lumped Mingzhu in to tie her hands.

"Fine, I will give it to him," She agreed sullenly. It was right anyway, Jingzhe had asked for it.

He was no fool and he would take all the precautions necessary before tinkering with it. But, she would have to remind him to take care before handing it over.

Mei Mei fell asleep wondering what the secret of the compass was. Was it truly a mythical object? Maybe it was infected with ghost energy or something like that. Perhaps Jingzhe would write a paper on the clock. The every last thought to cross her mind was that she would need to go online and take a look at some of his papers. He expressed interest in her work, she should do the same with his.

By the time Jingzhe ended the call and returned to her side, she was curled up like a kitten. He covered her and then laid down, facing the ceiling.

In the same city, meanwhile, inside of a room in another hotel, four people were meeting to discuss their assassination plans. The target was Miss Jun Meilin whose picture was sitting on a glass table in the middle of a small sitting area.

Along with her picture was a map of the resort where she was staying and the roads which were leading to the Sea city royal palace. On the map, they had indicated all the places where security would be on the day of the national liberation day celebrations. It was not just security but traffic cameras as well, on land and in the sky.

"We have just one chance at this, there must be no mistakes." One of the men said.

"Has the deposit been said?" A woman that was smoking stood up and walked towards the window to peek outside.

"Twenty five million up front and twenty five after the job is done." A man that was typing really speedily into a laptop confirmed.

Blowing smoke out of her mouth, the woman laughed. "Who knew that Mo Chenyu had stashed away a lot of cash? If you ask me, fifty million is not enough. We are going after Jun Meilin. Need I remind everyone here of her surname?"

The one on the laptop looked up, a smug smile on his face. "So what? We have taken out much...."

Suddenly the door to the room burst open and the window was kicked in. Before the four people could reach for their weapons or understand what the sudden invasion was about, they found themselves on the pointing end of dozens of guns and bright lights.

"This is the Imperial command, get on yours and put your hands behind your heads." Someone barked.

Twenty minutes later, to the astonishment of hotel guests and staff, four people whose faces were covered with black masks were led out of the hotel in handcuffs.

Back at the Dragon resort, Chi Lian got a phone call that was updating her on the status of the men that had been arrested.

She tapped the shoulder of her husband that was just beginning to fall asleep.

"It is done." She told him.

"Mmm..." Muyang answered, or snored. There was no difference to Chi Lian.

She put her phone away and looked at a large physical map of the world that she had kept under her pillow. Where in the world was her eggs hiding?

At Sea city’s largest airport, Mo Liang arrived with some members of the Mo family. They had come with bodyguards that were sent by the Empress that was still communicating with the outside world using Long Shuang’s custom made pocket sized smart mirror.

Cars were already waiting to pick them up and they were whisked away to another branch of the One thousand eyes resort and spa. The Empress had booked rooms for them on the executive floor.

As they walked through the hall to find their individual rooms, Mo Liang noticed a few nobles, men and women. None looked at him or bothered to acknowledge him. He still maintained a smile on his face because she was sure that soon he would be one of them.

He would even be more powerful than some of them. When the time came, they would not be able to ignore him anymore.

"A Yang, are you joining us for dinner?" Mrs. Sun asked him just before her entered his room.

He shook his head. "I will order for room service and get some sleep."

"Mmm, son goodnight." She waved and went off to find her room.

She was excited to be back in Sea city, their original home. She had to catch up with old friends and show off her status. She was not the same old woman they once knew, she was now the mother of a future noble man. This was enough to shut the lips of all those that were laughing at them for messing up the lucky koi Jun Meilin which had been fished out of the sea by her son by sheer luck.

Just like her son, she looked forward to the day when she would be an official lady and would scoff at the Jun family. They would regret how they treated her son and failed to value him.

Meanwhile, the man Mei Mei had nabbed the compass from was on his knees by the sea side on an empty beach. A gun was pointed to his head.

It was fired and his body fell to the ground. Two men that were wearing a ring similar to the one Mei Mei had taken pushed his body into the water.

"Find my ring, turn this city upside down if you must." A man barked.
