CHAPTER 11: CHAPTER 11: GET IN HIS CAR

The car door was slammed shut by her with great force.

Uncle Ford, worried that something might happen, sat in the front passenger seat and nervously glanced at the rearview mirror.

Seeing the scene in front of him and meeting Elias Warner’s gaze, his heart couldn’t help but skip a beat.

He immediately ordered the driver Zane to quickly raise the partition.

The cold wind and rain outside were instantly shut out.

A surging warmth, along with the scorching heat from the man, rushed toward her.

But even in the dim light, Elias Warner’s cold silence was unmistakable, as he tightened his grip on her wrist, trying to push her away!

"Get out of the car!"

"Just a few words and I’ll leave!" Annelise Winter didn’t want to leave and stubbornly looked at him!

Her fingers dug tightly into the leather seat, her cold skin pressing against his thigh, her drenched clothes rubbing against his firm leg muscles.

Refusing to move an inch, in the struggle, she wrapped herself around him even tighter.

Sitting astride his thigh, her knees nearly buckled from the force of her forward lunge.

Both of them suddenly froze.

The next second, her wrist was gripped tightly, and her entire body was pulled off him with a stronger force.

"Ouch..."

Unexpectedly, her hair got tangled in the man’s shirt button.

The pain in Annelise’s hand intensified, and her face was buried in the man’s chest, unable to lift up.

In the confined space.

Only Elias Warner’s grim face and his hand veined with tension remained visible.

He sat there, exuding authority, his intense gaze falling on the top of the woman’s head in his arms, his emotions unreadable by anyone.

Outside, car lights flashed by, revealing his rolling Adam’s apple, a sexy, tense jaw, and held breaths.

Yet she, in an effort to untangle her hair, kept twisting and turning on him to find an angle.

"Don’t move!"

After a few seconds of silence.

Elias Warner furrowed his brow, suppressing his emotions as he helped untangle her hair.

The next second, he successfully pushed the woman, who clung to him like a sticky candy, away.

"Leave the money, get out of the car."

His brow furrowed fiercely, clearly displeased by the scent of another man in the cabin.

It was from her.

As if he didn’t want to spend another second entangled with her!

Annelise steadied her mind, only the dim light could shield her embarrassed face at this moment.

She was pushed to the edge of the door, still unwilling to leave. She clutched her bag tightly, her eyes burning as she looked at him, word by word, "I only have about a hundred thousand now, still far from the three million you want. Why does the wealthy Young Master Warner have to trouble someone like me from the lower class for such a small amount of money?"

The storm in the man’s eyes was raging, his gaze sliced through her like a knife, his cold laugh mocking, "A hundred thousand isn’t much. Miss Winter is so capable, sell yourself a few more times, and it should be enough."

In such a place, dressed like that.

Getting that much money and getting out so quickly, there was no need to think about what methods she’d used.

These cold and sarcastic words left Annelise shocked on the spot, as if a sharp, cold knife had pierced her heart.

Coldness wreaked havoc around Elias Warner, with no mercy in his words, "Quite surprising, I thought you’d be the bride at Chase Perry’s wedding! Didn’t expect he’d let you come to such a place!"

Annelise’s heart felt like it was being cut to pieces, she choked and looked up, "But can you bear it?"

Their eyes locked.

Elias Warner’s dark gaze plunged into hers, his jaw sharply clenched, as if he’d heard a joke, "What’s it got to do with me?!"

He lowered his eyes, methodically pulling out a tissue to wipe his fingers, "Your clothes are dirtying my seat again, Miss Winter, that’s another three hundred thousand to the debt. From now on, my people will be waiting outside every time you work. Or you can have your buyers pay them directly."

Annelise felt a dull pain in her heart, thinking how ridiculous it was to even ask him such a question.

Could he care less?

Earlier in the booth, he had left without a backward glance, probably only blaming her for not selling herself for a higher price to repay the debt more quickly.

Annelise gripped her palm hard to stay calm, proposing a condition, "Then let’s use the six hundred thousand to exchange for my Peace Lock. As long as you give me the Peace Lock, I’ll agree to your terms, sell myself a few more times, and repay your debt as soon as possible."

Elias Warner’s actions halted sharply, his black pupils locking onto her, dark enough to swallow her whole.

"Fine! Need more patrons? I can introduce a few rich ones! From now on, you don’t get to rest!"

With that, he was about to take out his phone to make some calls for her!

Annelise’s eyes trembled, she pressed his hand tightly, "Then give me the Peace Lock first!"

Elias Warner was wrapped in an icy aura, "I threw it away, it’s just garbage, what’s there to keep?"

Garbage?

But in her eyes, it was a talisman for her daughter’s successful surgery.

It was the only thing she had worn over her heart for twenty years.

When they were young, they had a marriage arrangement, and this Peace Lock had been with her at all times since childhood.

Her grandfather told her after she came of age that the other half was with the Warner Family.

Annelise could never have imagined that the Peace Lock she dreamt of acquiring for her daughter would be thrown away by him as trash.

Suppressing her trembling, Annelise humbled herself, "May I ask, Mr. Warner, where you threw the trash? If I can’t get the Peace Lock, I won’t sell myself!"

"Alright. I’ll take you to find it, if found, it’s yours."

The next second, the dark luxury car was propelled like a storm into the rain.

A sourness welled up in her heart, Annelise felt an overwhelming sense of disgraceful sadness inside.

Even if she had known he’d never be the Elias Warner from the past, who loved and cherished her.

Yet he really was heartless enough to sell her off.

Fascinated, clinging to the man’s silhouette through the car window glass.

She traced his clean, sharp hair, eyes, nose, chin...

Every detail was deeper than five years ago.

His demeanor had also changed, becoming more icy and impersonal.

Even his breath carried the clear and aggressive scent that was uniquely him.

It made one greedily want to blend it into their very bones.

Annelise thought, perhaps this is the closest she’ll ever be to him in this lifetime.

Once she retrieves the Peace Lock, there will be no reason to linger around him anymore.

She quietly rested her face against the car window glass...

Elias Warner’s handsome face was shrouded in the night, dark and intimidating, as he dialed a number, "Uncle Ford, find a few wealthy men for Miss Winter!"
