Annelise was pulling out her uniform slowly as she said to Chloe, "What are you talking about, Chloe? Captain Warner and I have nothing to do with each other. Never have, never will. Whether or not he’s an innocent man is none of my business!"

Chloe’s face immediately fell.

"Chloe, what’s wrong? Why are you upset? I’m telling you the truth. I clarified my relationship with Captain Warner in front of everyone at the restaurant..."

"Cough, cough," Chloe almost spat out her water, signaling Annelise to stop talking.

At that moment, Elias Warner was standing at the office doorway.

"What’s that? Dr. Winter mentioning my name? Saying... you have nothing to do with me?"

Elias Warner enunciated each word, stepping closer to Annelise.

Annelise’s cheeks turned pale, then red, as she was forced to retreat a few steps by Elias Warner’s imposing aura.

Chloe didn’t dare to speak either.

"Is that so? Dr. Winter, you and I have nothing to do with each other?"

Elias Warner repeated the words, closing in on Annelise.

He raised his hand, reaching for the collar of Annelise’s white coat.

A little lower, and he’d see the tattoo on Annelise’s chest.

Until Elias Warner sent her a message, saying he was going home to spend time with his daughter, warning her to go home to Luna after her night shift, and did not go to find Annelise.

Annelise breathed a sigh of relief.

She remembered overhearing Mama Langdon mention that Elias Warner ensured Luna went to bed on time every day and that he wouldn’t disturb her.

She called Mama Langdon to confirm this.

"Mama Langdon, has Luna gone to sleep? Is Elias Warner at home?"

Annelise knew that Elias wasn’t by Luna’s side, so she called Luna on a video call.

she promised not to call Annelise "Mom" in front of Dad.

"Sweet Luna, hurry to bed, Mommy has to stay at the office tonight, but you’ll see your darling tomorrow morning!" Annelise comforted her.

"Okay, I’ll be good and listen to Mommy and go to sleep."

"Make sure not to tell Daddy that Mommy video-called you!"

Annelise ended the call, her mood still not settling down.

Elias was still investigating Luna’s biological mother.

"Flora, could you give the gentleman who’s been taking care of Luna my new phone number and have him contact me as soon as possible?"

"Sure, but why did you change your number?" Flora didn’t understand.

"Oh, that phone isn’t in frequent use, just switched to this one."

Annelise lied to Flora.

"Alright, I’ll reach out to him right away and pass on your number!" Flora hung up on Annelise and then called Elias Warner.

Elias Warner didn’t pick up, so Flora passed Annelise’s number to Uncle Ford.

After giving the number to Uncle Ford, Flora called Annelise again to inform her.

Annelise called Uncle Ford.

"Hello, I’m Luna’s mother. Please inform Mr. Warner that this is my number. He can contact me on this number in the future."

"Understood, Miss Winter, the young master is in the study now. I’ll inform him as soon as I can."

After ending the call, Annelise exhaled a long sigh of relief.

Since Mrs. Lockwood bailed her out of jail, she hadn’t checked on her brother at all.

Last time, because of her, her brother ended up in the ICU after being hit by Renee Perry. This time, she had failed to marry Wayne Young, and she didn’t know how her brother was now.

She tried calling her brother.
