Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 114: Is She Luna’s Mother?
CHAPTER 114: CHAPTER 114: IS SHE LUNA’S MOTHER?
The video was quickly sent over.
Elias Warner played the video on the computer.
A woman in a pink coat walked down the hospital corridor and, when she reached an old trash can, took out her phone SIM card, snapped it, and tossed it in the trash.
The back of this woman...
Elias Warner squinted his eyes, this back...
Looks too much like Annelise Winter...
He went downstairs and drove straight to The Airline.
Before leaving, he said to Uncle Ford, "Uncle Ford, send me Luna’s mother’s phone number!"
"Okay, young master, where are you going?"
Uncle Ford watched Elias Warner’s departing figure, frowning.
Recently, it seemed like the young master had changed a lot.
He didn’t know if it was a good thing or a bad thing.
The Airline
Annelise Winter was still dealing with files, without even time for a glass of water.
She wanted to finish the files quickly so she could return to see Luna early.
However, just in case, Annelise had decided to take Luna away from Elias Warner’s villa.
Although she knew Luna really liked Elias Warner, and that staying with her biological father was beneficial for Luna’s condition.
But she couldn’t guarantee that one day Renee Perry, upon seeing Luna and her resemblance to Elias Warner, wouldn’t cause big trouble.
So she decided to quickly take Luna away from Elias Warner’s villa.
She was already arranging for a place to stay.
She planned to rent a house in the suburbs as a residence for herself and Luna.
Bzzz bzzz bzzz bzzz...
The sound of Annelise Winter’s phone interrupted her thoughts. Her eyes remained on the screen as she picked up the phone.
Elias Warner was rushing toward Annelise Winter’s office.
He felt that none of this was a coincidence.
That video earlier made him feel that Luna’s mother was Annelise Winter.
He tried to recall the woman in the airport in Breslin who video called him, showing only her eyes and deliberately covering half of them with her hair.
And when he asked Uncle Ford to trace someone, he saw Annelise Winter at the hospital.
All of this was too coincidental.
Elias Warner felt like he had gone mad, deciding to see if Annelise Winter was indeed Luna’s mother.
So, when he arrived, he didn’t inform Annelise but instead called at her office door.
Annelise frowned, lowering her gaze to find the call was from Elias Warner.
She hadn’t expected Elias Warner to actively contact Luna’s mother, especially given the late hour.
She was about to answer when a loud crash startled her.
She turned around and saw Elias Warner.
Seeing Annelise about to answer the phone, he immediately rushed forward and snatched it from her.
"Elias Warner, what are you doing?"
Annelise was startled by Elias Warner’s actions.
"Annelise, you..."
Elias wanted to ask if Annelise was Luna’s mother, but suddenly he heard from the other end of the line, "Sis, what’s up? Are you listening to me?"
Elias felt deflated, like a punctured balloon, and handed the phone back to Annelise.
He turned and left Annelise’s office.
He shook his head and sneered.
Right, what was he thinking? How could Annelise be Luna’s mother?
How could she have had a child for him?
Impossible.
He was overthinking it.
Upon regaining his composure, he glanced at his phone, realizing that at some point, Luna’s mother’s call had ended.
Inside the office.
Annelise clutched her chest, and the facade of calm she had maintained crumbled once Elias left.
She hadn’t expected Elias would probe her.
He was definitely testing her just now.
Luckily, she had prepared two phones in advance, and when Elias kicked the door open, she immediately called her brother.
Fortunately, she wasn’t discovered.
She cautiously took out the other phone from underneath her and quickly turned it off.
She worried Elias would test her again.
"Sister, what’s wrong? Did something happen? Why aren’t you saying anything?"
"It’s nothing, just now... a colleague came over. I kept calling you, but couldn’t get through. How are you over there? Did you go abroad?"
She remembered clearly, Renee Perry had promised her that when Wayne Young was discharged, her brother would be moved too.
That day, when she went to get the marriage certificate with Wayne Young, her brother should have been taken out of the hospital by Renee Perry as well.
"No...it’s okay, sis, don’t worry about me. I’m fine here... Take care of yourself, I might be too busy with studies to call often..."
"Tell me the truth..."
Annelise suspected her brother ran into some trouble, as his tone suggested something happened.
Just then, Elias walked back in.
He had been focused on whether Luna’s mother’s call was answered by Annelise, realizing only now that it wasn’t her.
He recollected that a man had picked up the call earlier.
"Who are you talking to?"
Elias asked coldly.
"With my brother, what’s wrong?"
Elias knew about the brother but had little impression of him.
"What time do you finish? I’ll wait for you!"
Elias slipped one hand into his coat pocket, and with the other, fished out a cigarette.
He was desperate to calm his emotions.
Like before, when Annelise betrayed him, the following month he relied on smoking to stabilize his emotions and fall asleep.
As a result, he hadn’t quit smoking.
Whenever emotions stirred, he craved a cigarette.
The smoke quickly filled the office.
"I can’t get off work tonight, maybe tomorrow!"
Annelise replied coolly, devoid of emotion.
Her brother had already hung up.
She pocketed her phone and continued her work.
Elias took his last drag, snuffing the cigarette in the ashtray on the table.
The red ember ceased to glow.
He approached Annelise slowly, staring at her chest, and in a deep voice asked, "How’s the wound? Does it still hurt?"
"I don’t need your concern!"
She kept her eyes on the screen, showing Elias no warmth.
"Let me see!"
He leaned forward, ready to pull at her collar.
But Annelise grabbed his arm, and during their tussle, she bit Elias’s arm hard.
"Ouch," Elias exclaimed, instinctively loosening his grip.
A clear outline of Annelise’s teeth was left on his arm.
"You actually bit me?"
Elias clutched his arm, staring at the bite marks.
How had he not realized how fierce she could be when they were together before?
