CHAPTER 115: CHAPTER 115: THE FAMILY OF THREE REUNITED AT LAST

In Annelise Winter’s memory, she was very gentle when she was with him.

Until she found out that she wasn’t really the daughter of a wealthy family, her feelings for him became uncertain.

Sometimes she’d even sniffle and cry.

Now the person before him was entirely different—ferocious, strong, and forbearing.

Annelise’s eyes were filled with anger as she looked directly at him.

Elias Warner felt unsure about what he was feeling inside.

After all these years, what exactly happened to make her become this way?

Ferociously protecting herself.

"Creak—"

The door suddenly opened, relieving the awkward atmosphere.

The person who entered was Chloe Joyce.

Originally, there was something going on at home, but Chloe Joyce missed Annelise Winter a bit while she was at The Airline, especially when she saw that Annelise Winter looked unwell today. From time to time, she was clutching her chest.

She was worried something might happen, so she came.

"Captain Warner, you two..."

What Chloe Joyce saw was Elias Warner leaning down, only about ten centimeters away from Annelise Winter’s face and chest.

She was so nervous her face turned red.

"He came to me for bandaging, his arm is injured!" Annelise quickly explained.

She had already read some unusual thoughts on Chloe Joyce’s face; Chloe Joyce surely thought she and Elias Warner had something going on.

"Yes, I came for bandaging, I got bitten by a dog!"

The cold voice had a hint of pride.

Chloe Joyce couldn’t figure it out, where did Captain Warner go this late at night to get bitten by a dog?

"Oh dear, Captain Warner, where did you go? These two rows of teeth marks are so deep, that dog must be very fierce, right?"

Chloe Joyce said casually to ease the awkwardness.

"Yes, it was indeed very fierce!"

Elias Warner glared at Annelise Winter: "Dr. Winter, hurry up and bandage my wound, otherwise I might get infected soon!"

Annelise frowned, feeling as if Elias Warner was scolding her.

"Right, right, quick disinfection is necessary, Annelise, hurry up, why are you standing there coldly?"

Chloe Joyce always felt that something was off.

Annelise stood up, took out a cotton swab, povidone-iodine from the medical kit, and instructed Elias Warner to sit down while she crouched to disinfect his wound.

A few strands of Annelise’s long hair fell onto her fair neck as she looked down, her long lashes trembling like butterflies dancing, and her crimson lips adding a touch of brilliant color to her pale cheeks.

Annelise, however, didn’t notice Elias Warner’s expression and continued seriously disinfecting his wound.

His Adam’s apple moved, as he turned his head away.

Chloe Joyce was unaware, poured Annelise a glass of water and reminded her she’d stay with her for the night to work well.

"All done!"

Annelise finished treating Elias Warner’s wound, stood up, and put the medical kit back in its place.

Then, Elias Warner had no reason to stay longer.

He merely said: "Dr. Winter, will my wound get infected and inflamed? Should you take a closer look, or wrap it up properly, since the one who bit me was a fierce... dog!"

"No need!"

Annelise glared at him.

He had no reason to stay, clenched his fist and left.

After he left, Chloe Joyce began gossiping.

"Annelise, what’s this? Something going on with Captain Warner?"

"Don’t speak nonsense, he already has a fiancée, what could be going on!"

"True, he even has a child, not a match for our Miss Winter!"

"Chloe, why did you come back? Didn’t you have something going on at home?"

After work, Chloe Keats had told her that she couldn’t stay overnight to work, something was up at home.

"Nothing much, so I came to see you, you haven’t worked for several days, nothing happened, right? I saw you weren’t in the best mood when you came in today!"

"Nothing’s wrong, I’m good, Chloe, you should hurry home, don’t stay with me, tonight I won’t have time to chat with you, there’s a pile of work that’s unfinished!"

Chloe Keats pursed her lips, glanced at the work in Annelise’s hand.

It’s indeed a lot, also she’s indeed unable to help.

Looks like having a good chat with Annelise is hard today.

"Okay then! I’ll head back!"

Chloe Keats went home.

Annelise continued her previous work.

Bzz...

A text message came, it was from Elias Warner.

"You better get home on time tomorrow, otherwise I’ll come to your office to pick you up!"

Annelise didn’t reply to him.

She felt that the longer she stayed with Elias Warner, the harder it was to get away from him.

He seemed to have an endless entanglement with her.

Elias Warner drove away again, he couldn’t be at ease leaving Luna alone.

On the road, he called Uncle Ford and asked Mama Langdon to tell Luna stories to coax her to sleep.

"Ding"

Elias Warner’s phone received a text message.

"Mr. Warner, sorry, my phone was out of battery just now, thank you for taking care of Luna, I will come to pick her up tomorrow!"

"Okay, then you come over tomorrow, address: Villa A208, Prospect District"

Elias Warner looked at the message from Luna’s mother, his eyes were filled with coldness.

He was curious to see who Luna’s mother really was.

Someone he couldn’t find any information on despite his status.

Morning.

Annelise Winter was busy in front of the computer all night, only completing her work when the dawn light began to rise outside.

Now going home, she should be able to see Luna still asleep.

She missed Luna terribly after not seeing her all night.

She quickly closed her laptop, and after finishing a phone call with Chloe Keats, she took a cab straight back to the villa.

Villa.

Elias Warner was sitting at the alabaster dining table in the courtyard having breakfast with Luna.

These breakfast items, simple as they were, were all handmade by Elias Warner.

Freshly baked baguette slices with raspberry jam.

Soft-boiled eggs with a serving of Greek yogurt mixed with some honey and crushed nuts.

Black truffle and pan-seared salmon.

Luna sat across from Elias Warner, her small mouth stuffed full.

When Annelise Winter entered the door, she caught sight of this scene.

Her eyes became slightly moist, it was a scene she had longed for in her dreams.

Yet she hadn’t expected to see it in reality.

"Ms. Winter, you’re back? This is breakfast daddy made himself, it’s so delicious, Luna loves it!"

Luna’s eyes, like black grapes, sparkled brightly.

Elias Warner frowned, surprised to see Annelise Winter had obediently returned on her own early.

He thought she would hide away.

"Go wash up and have breakfast!"

Elias Warner spoke to Annelise, while simultaneously using a napkin to wipe the raspberry jam from Luna’s corner of the mouth.

If a family could be together well, he would definitely be an excellent and competent father.

Annelise thought.
