CHAPTER 119: CHAPTER 119: YOU DON’T SEEM VERY OBEDIENT

Uncle Zane walked out from inside. He glanced at Annelise Winter, seemingly unsurprised by her arrival.

"Miss Winter, you’re here? Madam is waiting for you inside!"

Uncle Zane opened the door, welcoming Annelise Winter inside.

But Uncle Zane’s words left Annelise Winter in shock. How did Renee Perry know she was coming today?

Moreover, she hadn’t informed anyone of her visit.

Yet, despite her initial surprise, her astonishment quickly dissipated.

After all, it was the powerful Warner Family; such things were expected to be within their means.

Annelise Winter followed Uncle Zane inside.

The Sandalwood was an ancient-style building. Its longevity spanned from the Qing Dynasty through the winds and rains of a hundred years, preserved by the descendants of the Warner Family up to today.

The lights inside were also antique-style.

Annelise Winter had no time to admire these. She wore a white coat with a pink suit underneath and walked with her hands in her pockets toward the inner quarters.

This was where Renee Perry lived. The few rooms inside belonged to the old madam and master.

Uncle Zane led Annelise Winter to Renee Perry’s door, reported to her, and then brought Annelise inside.

Renee Perry was lying on a professional massage bed, with a face mask on, while two technicians in white coats massaged her.

Upon hearing Uncle Zane announce Annelise Winter’s arrival,

Renee Perry didn’t dismiss the two technicians but let them continue massaging her.

Annelise Winter stood before Renee Perry.

Seeing such excessive indulgence, she couldn’t imagine Renee Perry and Elias Warner were mother and son.

She always felt Elias Warner’s demeanor was entirely different from Renee Perry’s.

Renee Perry was extravagant and ruthless.

Elias Warner wasn’t; Elias Warner was kind, although he wasn’t easy to get along with on the surface.

"You finally came? I thought you’d forgotten you’re still the goddaughter of the Warner Family, relying on Mrs. Lockwood for backing!"

Renee Perry sneered coldly.

"Where’s my brother? Where is he?" Annelise Winter didn’t respond to Renee Perry’s words, instead questioning her.

Renee Perry snorted coldly, "Seems like with Mrs. Lockwood backing you, you feel you can leave the Warner Family? Is this how you talk to your elders?"

"I’ve already promised you, to marry Wayne Young, let my brother go!" Annelise Winter shouted angrily.

"Yes, I agreed, as long as you marry Wayne Young and behave, I’ll release your brother. But are you behaving? It seems you’re not!"

Renee Perry’s smile was sarcastic at the corners of her mouth, mocking Annelise Winter.

Annelise Winter felt that Renee Perry was just deliberately looking for excuses. There was never any intention of letting her brother go.

"Ms. Perry, my brother has nothing to do with my actions. He doesn’t know anything I’ve done, so please let him go and return his spot for studying abroad!"

Annelise Winter clenched her hands, always feeling pressured when dealing with Renee Perry.

"Alright, I said as long as you behave, I’ll let him go!" Renee Perry rose from the massage bed, slowly approaching Annelise Winter.

Annelise Winter took a few steps back.

"What do you want from me?" Annelise Winter asked.

"What do I want? Have you left Elias? I warned you not to have any ambiguous relationship with Elias. You’re only siblings, so why are you entangled with him?"

Renee Perry closed in on Annelise Winter once more.

"I will leave Elias Warner, within the next few days, I’ll be far away from him and won’t bother him again!"

This had always been Annelise Winter’s decision. She had planned for a long time, intending to leave with Luna.

"Alright, then contact me once you leave! This is your final bottom line!" Renee Perry spoke coldly.

Annelise Winter nodded and left.

Late at night, the cold autumn leaves slowly fell from the trees, landing on Annelise Winter’s shoulder.

Her mood was also desolate.

"Annelise Winter, haven’t you decided to leave Elias Warner? Then why does your heart feel heavy?"

She walked slowly on the road outside the villa, waiting for a taxi.

A red car flashed past her at that moment.

It was so fast she almost couldn’t see it clearly.

Yet, under the dim streetlights, she caught a glimpse of the car’s license plate as it flashed by.

Sylvie?

How could it be!

How could Sylvie be here? Her place and The Sandalwood were in completely opposite directions.

Did she see it wrong?

She called Sylvia Lowell, but no one answered.

She must have seen it wrong.

Just then, a taxi arrived.

Annelise Winter got into the car, no longer calling Sylvia Lowell.

Returning to the villa,

Luna sat in the hall, with Mama Langdon still telling her stories.

Seeing Annelise Winter return, Luna immediately rushed over to hug her.

"Aunt Winter, where did you go? Why are you back so late?"

"Luna, why are you awake?"

Annelise Winter had left after putting Luna to sleep.

Mama Langdon laughed, patting Luna’s head, "Miss Winter, Luna said she wanted to wait for you to come back. It seems you two are really connected, Luna likes you a lot!"

Annelise Winter smiled awkwardly.

"Luna is very well-behaved. I like her a lot too! After all, I’m Luna’s aunt!"

"Yes, indeed!"

Mama Langdon almost misspoke, immediately changing the subject, "I need to wipe the table; it hasn’t been cleaned yet!"

"Okay!"

Mama Langdon turned away, and Annelise Winter stepped forward to pick up Luna.

"Mommy, where did you go? Why are you so late?" Luna asked.

"I went outside to find a place for us. We’re leaving here in a few days! You can’t stay here anymore; Daddy isn’t your real dad!"

Annelise Winter looked firmly into Luna’s large, grape-like eyes.

"Why? Mommy, you’re lying! There’s no way he isn’t my dad; he is my dad!"

Luna’s tears almost spilled out of her eyes.

"Listen to me, he really isn’t your dad. We need to leave here; this isn’t our home!"

Annelise Winter hugged Luna, rubbing her cheek against Luna’s.

"No, Mommy, I saw Daddy’s photo in your bag. He is Daddy!" Luna was adamant, insisting that the old photo she saw in Annelise Winter’s bag showed Elias Warner as her dad.

"Didn’t you say you’d leave with Mommy?" Annelise Winter patted Luna’s head.

"Yes, I agreed to leave with Mommy, but how can you lie to me about him not being my dad?"

Luna cried loudly.

This caught Mama Langdon’s attention.

Mama Langdon hurried downstairs to check on Luna’s condition.

"What happened, Luna? Why are you suddenly crying?"

"Grandma Langdon, it’s nothing, I just missed you!" Luna thought about leaving with her mom and never eating Grandma Langdon’s steak again.

She loved Grandma Langdon’s steak.
