Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 129: Scattered Dresses and Skirts
CHAPTER 129: CHAPTER 129: SCATTERED DRESSES AND SKIRTS
At the banquet, Lucas Lowell’s sudden departure was also arranged by Elias Warner.
Lucas Lowell is a playboy. A few years ago, his wife died, and the public statement was that she died of illness. In reality, she was beaten to death by him.
He wasn’t sure whether Miss Winter was aware of this.
"Miss Winter, there’s something I’m not sure if I should say, but I advise you to stay away from Young Master Lowell!"
"Got it, Uncle Ford! I’ll head upstairs now."
"By the way, the young master found out Luna was missing. You need to explain the situation to me in case the young master asks when he returns. I’ll go look for Luna now!"
Uncle Ford was still concerned about Luna’s whereabouts.
After all, someone was able to take Luna out of the Warner family’s villa, right under their noses, undetected.
It was indeed very unusual.
Only those closest to the Warner family would know how to avoid the cameras.
He suspected that because Miss Winter liked the young master, she was jealous and sent Luna away.
But at the banquet today, seeing Miss Winter’s behavior, he felt she wasn’t acting like someone who was jealous.
So there was no need to secretly send Luna away.
"Uncle Ford, don’t worry, Luna is safe. She was just taken away by her mother. We’ll contact her mother another day. When Luna’s mother left, she should’ve left a message for Elias Warner. After attending the banquet the whole day, I’m truly exhausted!"
"Alright, I won’t disturb your rest then!"
Uncle Ford left.
Annelise went upstairs and immediately went into the bathroom.
She turned the faucet on to the maximum.
It seemed only by turning the water to the maximum could she make herself feel more awake.
Through the mirror, she saw the kiss marks left by Elias Warner on her body, clear as day.
It seemed today she couldn’t go back to see Luna.
Yesterday when she went out, she promised Luna she’d cuddle her to sleep.
If Luna saw these kiss marks on her body, she might get worried.
Annelise finished washing and lay down on the bed to sleep.
Unexpectedly, she had a dream.
In the dream
Elias Warner was holding flowers, proposing to the pregnant Sylvia Lowell.
While she chased after Elias Warner’s car but couldn’t catch up no matter what.
Falling countless times along the way, unable to get up.
Suddenly, she woke up startled.
Outside the window, the sky was already pitch black.
She looked at the villa.
This villa was probably the one Elias Warner was preparing for his wedding with his fiancée.
She clearly remembered the first time Elias Warner sent her the address. When she came, she saw scattered dresses on the floor.
Annelise’s eyes involuntarily welled up.
She should’ve left him; leaving early would prevent the heartache she’s feeling now.
Leaving early, she wouldn’t have to see him with someone else.
If these five years she had left Elias Warner, it’s always been Sylvia Lowell accompanying her.
If, in places she didn’t know, she was always with Elias Warner.
Just thinking about it felt laughable.
There’s nothing worth reminiscing about.
She tossed and turned all night.
Watching the sun slowly rise outside the window.
Annelise was woken up by Sylvia Lowell’s call when she finally came to her senses.
Annelise trembled as she answered the phone.
"Annelise, why did you leave? When did you go? Was it my brother who sent you away? I didn’t see my brother this morning, you two didn’t..."
Sylvia Lowell asked about her and her brother as if nothing had happened.
Annelise felt a bitterness in her heart, her face turning pale from the pain.
"I received a call from The Airline in the middle of the night; there’s an urgent matter at the company, so I left first!"
Annelise hurriedly found an excuse.
"Oh, why didn’t you call me? It was late night; did my brother drive you?"
Sylvia Lowell probed.
"No, it was too urgent. I saw you were already asleep, so I didn’t tell you. I took a cab back myself!"
Annelise didn’t want to say more and quickly said, "I’m busy now; I’ll call you later!"
"Okay, then you get busy!" Sylvia Lowell clenched her fist.
Clearly, her brother Lucas Lowell was home all night, plus it would’ve been difficult to get a cab near her villa.
Annelise lied to her.
After hanging up, Annelise bit her lip.
She remembered selling Elias Warner’s suit worth two million.
She should find a way to quickly earn money to return the sold suit to Elias Warner.
She shouldn’t be caught up with him like this just because she owes him money.
After some thought, she made a call.
Before Annelise could speak, the person on the other end was evidently very happy.
"Ah, Annelise, I told you, you should be more open-minded and come work for me sooner. I know you need money; my place is the best place to make money, as long as you can put yourself out there!"
It was Lily calling.
Turns out, Annelise was dancing in a bar to raise money for Luna’s surgery.
This was the only way she could think of to make quick money.
"Can I still dance at your place?" Annelise didn’t want to lose her last bit of dignity for money.
"Sweetheart, why do you ask such questions; of course, you’re welcome to dance at my place. With your qualities, honestly, I wish you would come to my place to dance. If you come, I’ll find you a big opportunity tonight, guaranteed to make money."
"I have to work today, can I come tomorrow?"
"Of course."
Annelise hung up the phone, tidied up a bit, and prepared to go to work at The Airline.
In the office
Early in the day, all flight crew scheduled to fly had already started their pre-flight checks.
As Annelise pushed the door open, Chloe Joyce was busy as ever.
Seeing Annelise, it was as if she’d found a lifeline: "Annelise, you’re here. I’ve been busy all morning. It’s time; let’s swap out the medical kit on the plane."
"For which flight?"
Annelise wore a bow tie today to cover her neck.
She placed her bag down and prepared to change into her work uniform.
"It’s Captain Warner’s flight. He should be here for a check-up today too!"
Chloe Joyce spoke, glancing at those lined up for their health checks.
She noticed Elias Warner wasn’t there.
Confused: "Annelise, have you and Captain Warner been having issues lately? Usually, he comes to us for pre-flight checks. Why hasn’t he come today?"
Annelise suddenly remembered yesterday’s scene, her expression blurred.
Elias Warner hadn’t gone back to the villa; he must’ve gone to find Sylvia Lowell last night.
Now, he must be on his way to send Sylvia Lowell to work.
He hasn’t come, which makes sense.
"Yes, I saw it too. Captain Warner is actually having his check-up next door; it’s odd. Doesn’t he usually do it here?"
Chloe Joyce walked to the front door, looking into the next room where Elias Warner was having his check-up.
"He can have his check-up wherever he wants. We’re doing the same work here as next door; there’s no problem!"
As Annelise finished speaking, a pair of long, slender legs suddenly crossed in front of her.
