CHAPTER 132: CHAPTER 132: LUNA’S MOTHER, WHO ARE YOU?

"Mrs. Lockwood, what are you doing here?"

Elias Warner was surprised; he didn’t expect Mrs. Lockwood to know Luna and, from what she said, should also know Luna’s mother.

"I am good friends with Luna’s Mother. We’re just taking a stroll around here. I remember you were the one who transferred Luna from the airport to the best hospital. Really appreciate it!"

"Mrs. Lockwood, you’re too kind. After all, it’s a life we’re talking about. Even if I didn’t know Luna, I would still do the same. It’s just that, last time, when Luna left my house, those who took her avoided all the surveillance, and I’ve been worried that traffickers abducted her. I’m having Uncle Ford trace her whereabouts, and I didn’t expect to run into her here!"

Elias Warner glanced at "Luna’s Mother," who was staying next to Luna.

He stared at her closely. Already having a grudge against her, seeing her recognize him as Luna’s savior without a word of thanks, made his impression of her even worse.

Even Mrs. Lockwood, an outsider, knew to thank him face-to-face.

"Are you Luna’s Mother? I want to ask, why did you secretly take Luna away last time without informing me first?"

Elias Warner frowned because Luna’s departure worried him for a long time.

This woman was downright impolite.

"Mr. Warner, I suppose I don’t need your permission to take Luna away, do I? Do you actually consider yourself Luna’s biological father? I’m Luna’s guardian!"

Annelise Winter deliberately lowered her voice, speaking hoarsely.

"Ha! So what you’re saying is I was meddling in unnecessary affairs?"

Elias Warner questioned coldly, wondering how Luna would turn out, being handed over to such a mother.

"I sometimes really wonder, what kind of woman could be so arrogant and unreasonable!"

Elias Warner gradually approached Annelise Winter.

Luna rushed to stand in front of Annelise, blocking Elias Warner, even though her tiny figure only reached Elias Warner’s leg.

She extended her little arms to protect Annelise.

"Daddy, what are you doing? Don’t bully Mom!"

Elias Warner frowned, wondering what kind of trickery this woman had used on the child to win the favor of such a seemingly irresponsible mother.

"Luna, I just wanted to see what your mother looked like, not to bully her!"

Elias Warner glared at Annelise Winter, as if commanding her to remove her mask.

"Mr. Warner, whether I take off my mask or not is my own privacy, and apparently, you don’t have the right to force me to remove it!"

Annelise pushed herself to endure her inner fear and uneasiness.

"Alright, Mr. Warner, I’m not sure if there’s a misunderstanding between you two. Luna’s mother didn’t mean to be disrespectful when speaking to you. She’s very good to Luna; this you can trust. I swear by my Lockwood Group’s century-old legacy!"

Mrs. Lockwood stepped in to diffuse the situation.

Elias Warner had no more grounds to doubt that the masked woman was a trafficker.

"Let’s go, let’s leave here so as not to disturb Captain Warner!"

Mrs. Lockwood tugged on Annelise and Luna’s hands, heading towards the car.

As they walked away, Luna turned to look at Elias Warner with eyes full of reluctance.

Ha!

The rebellious demeanor in her speech was somewhat reminiscent of Annelise.

Wait.

The departing figure also somewhat resembled Annelise.

Could it possibly be Annelise?

Elias Warner dashed towards The Airline’s direction like a madman, rushing all the way into Annelise’s office.

He walked in, panting heavily, grasping the doorway, frantically searching for Annelise’s figure.

Unexpectedly, Annelise was sitting in her office, wearing a white coat, handling paperwork.

Chloe Joyce was also there.

Chloe looked at Elias Warner’s flustered appearance and hurriedly asked, "Captain Warner, what’s the matter? Did something important happen? You don’t look well!"

"Annelise, did I just see Luna’s mother?"

Elias Warner tested.

Annelise had already anticipated Elias Warner might suspect her of being Luna’s mother, but hearing it directly from him made her panic.

"What? What are you talking about? Luna’s mother? Oh, Luna, is Luna alright? Haven’t seen her in days, really miss her. By the way, what was she here for? To thank you?"

Annelise feigned ignorance, watching Elias Warner’s expression.

Elias Warner saw no sign, but unwilling to give up, asked again, "Where did you go just now?"

"I went to eat with Chloe, and after dinner, I’ve been here."

Elias Warner fixed his gaze on Annelise’s eyes, trying to find some clues within them.

"Then why didn’t I see you when I came by just now?"

Elias Warner lied to probe.

Annelise frowned, as Elias Warner truly pulled out all the stops to test her, even resorting to lies.

"Oh, Annelise was here all along, didn’t go anywhere. Captain Warner, did you come by just now?"

Chloe Joyce widened her eyes, exposing Elias Warner’s lie.

Elias Warner quickly replied, "Then maybe I was mistaken!"

"So, Captain Warner, was there something you needed?" Chloe asked again.

"No, just checking if you had changed the photo frames."

"Such minor tasks that trouble you to personally inquire about, really mindful!"

Chloe and Elias Warner exchanged small talk.

Annelise feigned shock, staring at her computer, secretly terrified inside.

Afraid of being exposed by Elias Warner.

"Nothing happened!"

Elias Warner shrugged it off and left.

The burst of energy Elias Warner had earlier dissipated like a deflated ball, leaving him completely drained.

Elias Warner hadn’t obtained the answer he wanted.

Only when the two in the office could no longer hear the footsteps outside, did Chloe finally tightly shut the office door.

She came to Annelise’s side, speaking softly, "Annelise, what’s going on? Luna? The little girl Captain Warner brought back? Isn’t she said to be Captain Warner’s daughter? Oh, do you know Luna’s mother? I originally wanted to pair you two together, but it seems that’s impossible now, boohoo!"

"Chloe, what are you blabbering about!" Annelise patted Chloe’s forehead.

This little head of hers kept filling with nonsense daily; probably from reading too many bossy CEO novels.

Elias Warner had already returned to his car by now.

Rolling down the window, he lit a cigarette.

The smoke swirled, helping him slowly regain his sanity.

What was he thinking?

Imagining the masked woman he met was Annelise. He really was going mad.

Still from the depths of his heart, fantasizing that Luna was his and Annelise’s daughter.

But why was Luna with Mrs. Lockwood?

Never heard Mrs. Lockwood mention it before.
