CHAPTER 140: CHAPTER 140: WHO IS HER BABY?

June Winter’s face turned red, not daring to say another word.

Everyone present was too afraid to speak.

The entire room fell silent.

Annelise Winter followed Elias Warner to the hall, not wanting to hear the nonsense of these people. Regardless of how they criticized her, it didn’t matter to her.

She just wanted to know who requested the dance.

After all, fifty thousand dollars is quite a substantial income.

"Earlier, who requested the dance again? Pay up, and I’ll dance a new one!"

Everyone was shocked.

After Annelise’s words fell, no one dared to respond.

Those sitting around Elias Warner just felt like the temperature around them had dropped a few degrees.

They couldn’t help but shiver.

Elias Warner got up, grabbing Annelise’s arm, and headed towards the exit of the bar.

Annelise stumbled and was pulled away by Elias Warner.

Only then did everyone dare to breathe a sigh of relief.

"You must be joking, Annelise doesn’t seem like she’s clinging to Captain Warner, more like Captain Warner is clinging to her..."

"What nonsense are you spewing? With Captain Warner’s credentials, what woman wouldn’t be tempted? And you say Captain Warner is clinging to Annelise?"

Ivy Willows muttered.

She was nearly driven mad by jealousy.

Why would a woman with such a bad reputation still be favored by Captain Warner?

"What nonsense are you talking about? Are you blind? I think it’s just you being jealous of Annelise!" Chloe Joyce said arrogantly.

As an outsider, she’s seen it; every time Elias Warner does his pre-flight checks, he stops by to find Annelise.

He definitely likes Annelise, no doubt.

This group, really look down on people.

"Right, Ivy, I don’t think it’s like the rumors, I actually believe Annelise isn’t interested in Captain Warner, rather it’s him who’s interested in her!"

Among the gossip.

Sylvia Lowell’s heart felt stabbed.

Why?

Why does Annelise’s reputation seem so bad and yet Elias Warner protects her so fiercely?

She rushed out of the bar.

"Stop talking, you all, you’ve scared Miss Lowell away!"

When everyone went to look for Sylvia Lowell’s figure, she was already out of sight.

Annelise was pulled by Elias Warner to the front of the car.

"Elias Warner, what are you doing? I haven’t gotten the money back!"

"From now on, you’re not allowed to dance like that in front of others. If you need money, I can give it to you!"

Elias Warner, enraged, took out his phone.

This woman, preferring to flaunt in front of other men rather than listen to him.

"Elias Warner, you made me miss out on earning fifty thousand, please transfer that fifty thousand to me!"

Elias Warner was about to make the transfer but suddenly retracted his hand.

Originally, he intended to transfer the money to Annelise, but since she said that, he’d rather not satisfy her.

"Get in the car!"

Elias Warner looked at Annelise, shivering in the autumn wind.

She stared stubbornly at him, a complex expression in her defiant eyes.

Annelise showed no intention of getting in the car.

Elias Warner picked Annelise up horizontally, carried her to the passenger seat, and placed her in the passenger seat.

By the time Annelise came to her senses, the door had already been locked.

"Elias Warner, let me out!"

Elias Warner didn’t respond, hit the gas, and drove away.

"I told you before, you’re my friend’s boyfriend, so shouldn’t we keep a distance?"

No matter what Annelise said, Elias Warner showed no intention of stopping.

"Buzz... Buzz..."

Annelise’s phone rang.

She took the phone out of her pocket and saw it was her daughter Luna calling.

She wanted to answer Luna’s call, but because Elias was there, she absolutely would not answer it.

She promptly hung up the call.

Elias Warner frowned, noticing the unease on Annelise’s face.

He glanced at the phone’s screen briefly, but he saw very clearly nonetheless.

It was labeled as "Darling"!

Elias Warner frowned, his brow furrowed deeply.

He tightened his grip and grasped the steering wheel even tighter.

He hit the gas and sped forward.

"Why? Guilty? Why did you ignore the call?"

Elias Warner coldly questioned, his heart was clenched, as if, only when Annelise answered the call would it open up.

A piercing screech of brakes sounded.

The black Rolls-Royce came to a stop on the roadside.

It was already late at night, the streetlights casting long shadows of the car.

"It’s my private matter, seems like it has nothing to do with you!"

Annelise was like a wildcat, baring her claws.

"Why? You think the man you found is shady?"

He glared at Annelise, focusing on her expression.

Annelise shielded her phone, seemingly worried he would see it.

Elias Warner took a deep breath.

It seemed like he knew this person, could it possibly be Chase Perry?

"Knock, knock."

There was someone knocking on the car window.

The sound of knocking broke the cramped atmosphere inside the car.

Elias Warner rolled down the window.

Sylvia Lowell leaned her head in from outside, seeing Annelise sitting inside.

Sure enough, she had guessed right, Elias Warner indeed left with Annelise.

"Elias, why is your car stopped here? Coincidentally my car broke down, can I hitch a ride with you?" Sylvia Lowell was obviously being deliberate.

She had chased after Elias Warner from the bar deliberately.

Unexpectedly, Elias Warner suddenly stopped.

She had been watching the car from a distance, but couldn’t see what was happening inside from outside the windows.

Unable to resist, she got out of her car and knocked on Elias Warner’s window.

When she looked inside, her mind was filled with images of Annelise’s makeup and lipstick marks on Elias Warner’s clothes.

She even fantasized about Annelise and Elias Warner’s entwined figures in the car.

Even though she feared Elias Warner’s displeasure, she couldn’t resist the urge to get out of the car and, under the pretense of needing a ride, knock on Elias Warner’s door.

Luckily, there was nothing amiss inside.

Elias Warner and Annelise sat there, neatly dressed.

She felt a slight relief.

"Annelise, you’re here too? You don’t mind if I hitch a ride with you, right?" Sylvia Lowell probed.

Mind?

She had no right to mind Elias Warner’s official girlfriend, Sylvia Lowell.

It was her who should leave.

Just felt that Sylvia Lowell’s words were mocking.

"Get out!"

As Annelise was about to exit the car, Elias Warner threw a cold glance at her.

Annelise froze for a moment.

So, Elias Warner wants her off the car to make space for his official girlfriend Sylvia Lowell?

Outside, the sky was dim, and the lights were dim too.

"Get out!"

Annelise opened the car door.

Sylvia Lowell smiled, taking the passenger seat.

With a hit of the gas, Elias Warner drove away.

Very quickly disappearing from Annelise’s sight.

The cold wind howled, a reflection of Annelise’s heart at this moment.

Fortunately, this wasn’t the first time she had gone through something like this; she was used to it.

Just today, she was even more sorrowful than usual.

She forever lost her best friend and the person she loved most.

Watching the departing Rolls-Royce, Annelise whispered, "Wish you both happiness forever!"

She picked up her cellphone and dialed a number.
