CHAPTER 156: CHAPTER 156: ELIAS WARNER IS BACK

She lifted her leg, still had feeling.

It wasn’t fake.

"Luna!"

She suddenly remembered that Luna was still with Chloe.

Now she didn’t know what the situation was like.

She anxiously got out of the hospital bed, prepared to leave the room, she needed to find Luna.

After the commotion with June Winter, she didn’t know if Luna would be in any danger.

Just as she reached the door.

She was blocked by Colin Winter.

She lifted her eyes to glance at Colin Winter, but before she could speak.

"Slap!"

A loud slap left Annelise Winter dazed and confused.

Annelise staggered, holding onto the bed to avoid falling.

"Annelise, you ungrateful brat, you actually want to kill June! I should have strangled you at birth! Your mother was so upset because of you that she ended up in the hospital. We actually raised such an unfilial daughter!"

He slowly approached Annelise, pointing at her, cursing: "Let me tell you, Annelise, if anything happens to June, I won’t spare you! If June is maimed or becomes a fool, I will take your life!"

He raised his hand again, swinging it towards Annelise.

This time, Annelise dodged.

"You dare to dodge!"

Colin Winter became even angrier.

"What right do you have to teach me a lesson here? I have nothing to do with the Winter Family anymore! Mr. Winter, if you dare to touch me again, I will call the police, and you can wait to go to jail!"

Annelise picked up her phone and opened the recording feature.

Colin Winter was so furious he clutched his chest.

"Get out! If you don’t, I will accuse you of harassment!" Annelise shouted angrily.

Annelise forced Colin Winter out step by step.

With a "bang", she closed the door to the hospital room.

Annelise sat on the hospital bed, her eyes somewhat wet.

Half of her face was burning with pain.

Just then, Chloe’s phone call came.

"Annelise, how are you? You scared me to death, June must have gone crazy! She actually wanted to drag you down with her! What on earth is going on?"

Chloe didn’t know Luna’s background.

"Chloe, what about Luna? Is Luna still with you? Please take care of her!" Annelise was very worried about Luna.

"Annelise, don’t worry, Luna is very smart. She doesn’t know about your accident; I told her you went to work sent by a nasty boss, and you’d come to find her after work. She kept asking me to take her to the Lockwood Family villa, and I’ve already sent her there!"

Chloe explained.

Annelise breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Luna returned to the Lockwood Family villa, she would be temporarily safe.

She could finally relax a bit.

Annelise heard the doctor’s voice from outside the operating room.

It must be June coming out.

Annelise moved her steps and came out of the ward.

She headed towards June’s room.

Annelise knew that at this time, Colin Winter certainly wasn’t there, because everyday around this time, he had an important meeting to attend.

Knowing that June was not in critical condition, he should have left.

In the ward, June was still in a half-dazed state.

Annelise pushed the door to the ward open and saw June,

Annelise left June’s room.

"Annelise, why did you come out of the ward?"

But she saw a familiar figure at the elevator, it was Elias Warner.

Elias was staring in her direction, and when he saw Chase with Annelise, his eyes were full of icy coldness.

"Annelise, listen to me, the reason June knew..."

He hadn’t finished explaining when a tall figure blocked him.

"Elias..."

Chase’s face was grim.

Elias ignored Chase.

"Elias, I’m sorry..."

"Get lost!"

Chase glanced at Elias reluctantly before leaving.

In the corridor, only Annelise and Elias Warner were left.

Annelise slowly walked towards the hospital room without speaking to Elias Warner.

Elias Warner sized up Annelise from head to toe.

He had only been away for a day, yet the woman before him looked so haggard it made his heart ache.

He stepped forward, stretched out his long leg, and blocked Annelise’s path.

He picked Annelise up in his arms and walked towards the hospital room.

"Elias Warner, this is a hospital, put me down!"

"Don’t move!" Elias Warner raised his pleasant-sounding voice.

Annelise no longer resisted because she knew Elias Warner too well.

Once Elias Warner made a decision, it couldn’t be swayed by others.

Moreover, there were too many people in the corridor; talking in the room would be safer.

He placed Annelise on the hospital bed.

"You shouldn’t come, there are too many people around now!" Annelise said softly.

She was testing him.

"What’s going on here? I was only away for a day, and something as serious as a fatal incident happened?"

Elias Warner had just gotten off the plane and hadn’t even had time to change out of his flight suit.

"You should leave, there are too many people around, I don’t want you involved!" Annelise continued.

"I’m asking you, how did you get injured!" Elias Warner’s cold voice rose.

"I... I was trying to save June Winter!"

Annelise replied.

"To save June Winter? Really?" Elias Warner stared into Annelise’s eyes.

He knew Annelise too well; when she spoke, her ears would turn red, and she couldn’t look people straight in the eye.

"Then tell me, where did the injury on your face come from?" Elias Warner saw the swelling on Annelise’s face and was heartbroken.

He had never even laid a finger on her, yet someone dared to hit her when he wasn’t around.

"No..."

Annelise didn’t want to tell Elias Warner that it was Colin Winter’s doing.

If Elias Warner went to confront Colin Winter now, she was worried the secret about Luna would be exposed.

"It’s the Winters, isn’t it!"

Elias Warner questioned coldly.

"Elias Warner..."

Annelise shook her head, not wanting to pursue it.

Elias Warner turned and left.

Annelise got off the bed excitedly and chased after him, nearly stumbling in the process.

As Elias Warner was leaving, he saw Annelise almost fall, he rushed back in, caught her in his arms, and placed her back on the bed.

"Elias Warner, don’t go, I don’t want any entanglement with the Winters!"

Annelise held onto Elias Warner’s hand.

"Alright, rest assured, I won’t go."

Elias Warner tucked the blanket around Annelise.

Suddenly, the door to the room was pushed open.

The person who came in was Chloe Joyce.

Chloe Joyce saw Annelise and Elias Warner, suddenly feeling a bit awkward.

She waved to Elias Warner, "Hi, Captain Warner, am I... interrupting?"

She suddenly felt that she had come at the wrong time.

"Chloe, why are you here?" Annelise was surprised.

It was just after work hours.

"Annelise, I was worried no one was taking care of you here..."

She glanced at Elias Warner.

Muttering softly, "If I knew Captain Warner was here, I wouldn’t have come!"

She thought, Captain Warner had feelings for Annelise, and she was right.

Her instincts had always been accurate.

Elias Warner nodded, turned around, and left Chloe Joyce and Annelise alone in the room.

Chloe Joyce, as if discovering a new continent, asked, "Annelise, are you and Captain Warner together? What’s going on? Luna isn’t Captain Warner’s daughter, is she? She looks so much like him!"

Chloe Joyce whispered gossipy.

Annelise was shocked and covered Chloe Joyce’s mouth, "Don’t talk nonsense, Luna is my daughter, and you must keep this a secret for me!"

Annelise pursed her lips.

After the commotion caused by June Winter, things became much more complicated. She only hoped time would fly by, and once Elias Warner and Sylvia Lowell got engaged, Renee Perry would completely let her go.

She and Luna would be free.

"Annelise, is the child’s father Captain Warner? Does Captain Warner know about this?"

Chloe Joyce asked again.

"Chloe, just don’t ask, I don’t want a second person to know about this. I don’t want to mention who the father is!"

Annelise refused to answer, not that she didn’t want to tell Chloe, but the more people knew, the more danger Luna would be in.

Chloe Joyce nodded.

"Alright, Annelise, rest assured, if you run into any trouble, just leave it to me. I came here today just to see you, and with Captain Warner here, I’m relieved!"

Chloe Joyce said as she peeled an apple for Annelise.

Outside the door

Elias Warner stood in the corridor, the dim light casting a long shadow of his figure.

He had a cigarette in his hand, leaning against the wall.

Even though he was just outside Annelise’s hospital room, he couldn’t hear a word of her conversation with Chloe Joyce.

He heard a nurse call out, "Family of June Winter"

Colin Winter immediately walked out of the hospital room.

Inside, he heard June Winter’s brother’s voice, "Dad, quickly ask if there’s anything to ease the pain. June is in so much pain! It’s all that jinx Annelise’s fault!"

Elias Warner frowned.

He put one hand in his pocket, extinguishing the cigar he was smoking into the trash can.

He walked towards June Winter’s hospital room.

Elias Warner entered the room.

June Winter’s mother saw Elias Warner and immediately showed a respectful demeanor.

"Elias, why are you here?"
