CHAPTER 21: CHAPTER 21: LUNA LOOKS LIKE DADDY

The atmosphere was tense, Elias Warner maintained a stern expression without speaking, not even glancing at Dr. Winter for a moment.

Chase Perry sensed something was off, his deep black eyes coldly fixed on June Winter, warning her, "June Winter, that’s enough."

Elias would definitely deal with Annelise for her, there was no way June Winter would let it go just like that.

Unexpectedly, Elias Warner spoke with his hands in his pockets, his voice cold, "I think we should choose someone else as the spokesperson."

All the executives were suddenly shocked.

The spokesperson was also considered to be Captain Warner’s sister-in-law, yet he showed no leniency at all.

June Winter’s face changed instantly, defiantly pointing at Annelise, "It’s clearly Annelise who made the mistake!"

Elias Warner’s icy and fierce gaze was immensely oppressive, "She is she, you are you. As a spokesperson for The Airline, representing the entire company, you must be cautious with your words and actions. If everyone had your level of integrity, our corporate culture would be a total failure!"

June Winter’s face turned red with shame and embarrassment, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Chase, help me tell Captain Warner I don’t want to be replaced! Clearly, Annelise acts like a whore and wants to wear a virgin’s halo!" She tugged at Chase Perry’s sleeve, eyes red, only to be shrugged off by Chase’s stern expression.

"Aren’t you humiliated enough? Shut up!" Just then, Chase’s phone rang. He looked colder, took out his phone, and upon seeing the caller ID, didn’t hesitate further.

He greeted Elias Warner and turned to leave.

"Chase!"

June Winter angrily chased after him.

After the young couple left, Elias Warner’s cold gaze merely swept past the flight attendants who stood there in frightened silence.

"As for the rest, if you don’t want to work here, you can resign!"

With one hand in his pocket, he told Shawn Reed behind him, "When you hold training sessions, remember to tell them that if anyone gossips about colleagues behind their back, they’ll be fired immediately! And also, I don’t want office romances; if you’re looking for a partner, don’t consider me!"

"Yes, I understand, Captain Warner!"

From beginning to end, he didn’t look at Annelise at all.

He completely ignored her; it was clear that Annelise had truly angered Captain Warner this time.

Elias Warner began to head upstairs, enveloped in a chill intense as ice and snow, "You don’t need to follow me. Go back to your tasks. I’m just going to take a pre-flight physical."

Director Thompson hurried to follow, signaling Annelise and Chloe Joyce with his eyes, "Who’s the on-duty medical officer in the business department today?"

Today’s on-duty medical officer was Annelise.

Chloe Joyce nudged Annelise, "It’s Annelise."

In an effort to avoid suspicion, Director Thompson said, "Then Chloe Joyce, you help Captain Warner with the examination!"

"Why are you still standing there? Hurry and follow along."

Chloe Joyce naturally understood what Director Thompson meant; Annelise had openly expressed disdain for Captain Warner earlier, causing him to lose face, and it was to avoid suspicion.

Yet, she felt that Captain Warner’s expression wasn’t quite right.

Clearly, he deliberately ignored it, but she felt Captain Warner wasn’t as indifferent as he seemed!

But Chloe Joyce couldn’t defy, quietly advising Annelise, "Take care of yourself, remember to treat the wound on the back of your hand, call me if you need anything, I’m leaving."

Elias Warner didn’t turn his head, striding forward with a stern face!

The oppressive emotion seemed to carry the wind!

So intense that wherever it reached, the temperature dropped dramatically!

The flight attendants all left with cold snorts, leaving Annelise alone.

She didn’t know why Elias Warner was upset. Clearly, she had already said she wouldn’t have any inappropriate thoughts about him, but it seemed she had said something wrong.

But she didn’t regret letting him hear it.

In front of everyone at The Airline, she drew a clear line with him, to avoid staining him with her disgrace.

Completely severing any connection with her.

There was no time to think further, as before this, Annelise had already hung up on her daughter twice.

The remaining medication had not been administered; she took her phone to return her daughter’s call.

...

Meanwhile, Luna, who had been hung up on twice by Annelise, had actually called Chase Perry.

Chase Perry walked to a stairwell to answer the video call.

The moment the screen lit up, a soft, puffy, pretty little face appeared in the camera.

That little face looked very much like Elias Warner.

The babyish voice almost instantly melted the ice on Chase Perry’s face.

"Uncle Perry!! You finally answered the phone!"

"Luna! Did you miss me? You haven’t called me for a whole month!"

"Boo..." On the other side of the call, the little girl sitting on the hospital bed had red eyes and nose, feeling aggrieved and about to cry, but stubbornly holding back.

"Uncle Perry, Mommy said you got married, told me not to disturb you in the future. I’ve been holding back these days, counting hundreds of carrots every day to control myself!"

Pearl-like tears rolled down Luna’s somewhat pale little face.

The little one was so sad, her little shoulders trembled as she struggled to be strong.

She messily wiped her tears with her hands.

"But I really can’t hold back anymore, because Mommy doesn’t want me anymore..."

Seeing Luna cry, Chase Perry’s heart broke.

Perhaps from empathy, he choked, "How could Mommy not want you?"

Thinking of the pale-faced Annelise he had just seen, Chase’s heart ached even more.

Luna sniffled, "But I called Mommy. Mommy didn’t answer..."

Thinking of Annelise in her sickly state just now.

Chase swallowed the bitterness in his heart, comforting Luna, "Mommy didn’t mean not to answer, Uncle can vouch for that!"

"Really? Is Mommy okay? Uncle Perry, you know Luna is having surgery in two days, right?"

"Really?" Chase knew how long Annelise had been waiting for the opportunity for a transplant for her child, just hadn’t expected to only find out now.

He stroked Luna’s small face through the screen, "Congratulations Luna, after the surgery, you can become a superhuman!"

"But I don’t want to be a superhuman; I want Mommy... Mommy said she booked a flight to accompany me for the surgery tomorrow... but I can’t find her now; does she find me a bother and not want me anymore..."

"Luna, no," not wanting the little one to be sad anymore, Chase said, "Mommy is probably busy at work and couldn’t answer the phone. Be good and listen to Dr. Flora, I’ll help you find Mommy!"

"Yes, thank you, Uncle Perry."

"Uncle will do a magic trick, close your eyes, and when you open them, you’ll see Mommy!"

"Okay, okay, Luna loves magic tricks!"

Having hung up twice on her daughter, Annelise knew her daughter must be scared.

Thinking of her daughter, she felt heartache.

Afraid of being seen, she headed straight to the rooftop.

Unexpectedly, the next moment, a strong force grasped her wrist tightly!
