CHAPTER 23: CHAPTER 23: LIKE FLIRTING AND BICKERING

As soon as the words fell, Elias Warner, who originally had a cold face, suddenly clenched the hand resting on the table, his cheekbones moving sharply.

Chloe Joyce sensed the pressure, "That Annelise Winter has taken leave, so I will be the one to inform and serve you afterwards."

After Annelise denied having any interest in Captain Warner, Chloe couldn’t help but keep observing this captain.

Chloe cautiously raised her eyes, and indeed noticed that at the moment Elias heard Annelise’s name, his expression changed.

Even though it was just his thin lips pressed down, Chloe noticed it.

Jason Warner’s icy gaze glanced at the roster for next week, which didn’t have Annelise’s name on it, and his mind involuntarily flashed back to the scene where Annelise had just drawn a clear line with him, saying she would never covet him.

Fretfulness and bitterness rose suddenly from the heart, hard to suppress, only feeling that he was utterly ridiculous, simply a joke!

He kept a cold face and habitually reached for a cigarette.

Realizing this was the flight medical office, the hand placed in his pants pocket suddenly clenched tightly.

With an expressionless face, he stood up, his voice like ice shards, "Alright, thank you."

Leaving the flight medical office, Elias Warner merely shook out a cigarette from the pack and held it between his fingers, only to easily crush it in his palm!

But even so, he couldn’t release the pent-up frustration and nameless fire burning inside!

His long shadow appeared aloof, with an air of arrogance.

With a stern face, he walked to the rooftop, only to see two people pulling and tugging in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

It looked like they were flirting.

Or as if the girl was throwing a tantrum.

Annelise’s hand thudded against Chase Perry’s chest, and Chase reached out an arm to embrace her. She wanted to break free but couldn’t and suddenly fell into his arms.

Completely unaware of the presence of an outsider.

The light falling, unexpectedly beautiful.

Elias Warner’s gaze was cold like a gloomy sea, coming to a direct stop!

He took out a lighter, the friction of the wheel emitting a crunching sound.

The light ignited.

Reflecting his indifferent, handsome face.

This sound finally interrupted the two.

Chase hadn’t realized Annelise was so weak she could hardly stand.

He still insisted on giving Annelise that card; Annelise angrily threw the card behind him, and he tried to stealthily tuck it into Annelise’s bag from behind.

In the next moment, Annelise fainted, and if he hadn’t been standing in front of her to catch her, Annelise might have fallen to the ground.

Hearing the sound of the lighter’s wheel, Chase glanced back to see Elias Warner!

Holding the person in his arms was awkward, and letting go wasn’t a choice.

He could only gently support Annelise, lowering his eyes and softly, cautiously reminding Annelise, "Annelise, can you still hold on? My brother is watching us?"

Annelise was half-conscious, trying hard to open her eyes, but dizzy and unable to do so.

Chase could only brace himself.

"Brother!"

With Elias Warner staring at him, Chase felt like he was back five years ago.

Back then, he cooperated with Annelise to put on an act in front of his brother, and his brother looked at him with the same gaze.

Chase both respects and fears Elias Warner.

The most outrageous thing he’s ever done in his life.

Was to covet his brother’s girlfriend and even "snatch away" his brother’s girlfriend.

Resulting in a rift between brothers and no contact for five years.

Though he has ulterior motives, he now only wants Annelise not to suffer anymore and hopes she and Luna can be happy.

He wants to lend Annelise a hand.

Chase looked towards Elias Warner, "Brother... Annelise fainted, I can’t carry her, could you help me?"

Elias Warner’s icy gaze pierced through him like knives.

The wheel in his hand made a crunching sound.

Not giving them another glance, he intended to brush past them.

Annelise didn’t respond either.

Chase decided to take a gamble, blocking Elias Warner’s path while supporting Annelise, "Brother, don’t go just yet."

Elias Warner frowned, "Let go."

"Brother, Annelise really wants that Peace Lock, can you give it to her, name your price, whatever it is, I can pay it!"

Elias Warner stood before Chase, hands in his pockets; he was taller than Chase, and the moment he lowered his gaze, the pressure was intense, "In what capacity are you asking on her behalf?"

Chase’s Adam’s apple rolled, fists clenched tightly, speechless.

After a long while, he squeezed out, "Brother, don’t make it difficult for her, okay? Brother?"

Elias Warner coldly chuckled, even less understanding, "Let go, I have no interest in your emotional lives."

The gaze suddenly turned icy cold, even the cigarette was unknowingly crushed in his fingers.

Chase knew Elias Warner misunderstood, "But she wants the Peace Lock so badly; don’t you want to know why?"

Suppressing the fire rising in his heart, Elias Warner seemed to hear a joke.

"Who is she? What does she have to do with me?"

Elias Warner coldly stared at Chase, "Chase Perry, if it weren’t for some blood ties, do you think you could stand safely before me?"

Chase felt remorse towards Elias Warner, thinking it might be better to let Elias Warner hit him.

"Brother, should you hit me to feel better?"

Gritting his teeth and shutting his eyes, "Then hit me!"

Elias Warner lightly laughed, yet the laughter didn’t reach his eyes.

Seeing him unmoving, Chase challenged, "If you won’t hit, at least help me take care of Annelise alright? She’s had a fever and is very weak now; you know I just got married, if I carry her all the way down from here, it’ll spread throughout the company in ten minutes! This isn’t good for either of us!"

Elias Warner narrowed his eyes slightly, "I warn you Chase Perry! Don’t seek death!"

At the sound of these words, he then lifted his steps ready to leave!

The suppressed fire within was successfully ignited.

At the moment of brushing past, a woman was thrust into his arms.

Chase Perry, fearless of death, said, "Just for the sake of the Warner Family and Perry Family’s reputation! Help me send her to the medical room!"

Saying so, Chase directly pushed the woman onto Elias Warner.

The woman’s soft body clung to him like vines, entwining him.

Elias Warner’s deeply cold brows knitted tightly, instinctively wanting to throw her out.

"Chase Perry! Are you tired of living!"

Chase yet again pushed the person back, directly turning his back, striding away, "Right! Do whatever you want!"

No matter the commotion behind, he pressured himself not to look back.

Anyway, he owed his brother a beating, and as long as he could help Annelise, he didn’t mind receiving a harsher beating.

Elias Warner’s sharp cheekbones were tense, the veins on his arm, hanging by his side, were throbbing beneath the skin.
