Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 3: She Wants the Peace Lock
CHAPTER 3: CHAPTER 3: SHE WANTS THE PEACE LOCK
June was taken aback, her little face turning red with anger in an instant, "No way! Who do you think you are? I’m the image ambassador of our airline! How dare you issue a grounding order for me? Are you disregarding the reputation of our airline?!"
Furious and embarrassed, June glared at Annelise, "And my blood pressure has never been high. Either your blood pressure monitor is broken, or you’re deliberately making things hard for me!"
Annelise glanced at June indifferently, "Talking during a blood pressure test, such unstable mental status, you’d be better off going directly to the psychiatric department."
June was so angry her cheeks puffed up, biting her rosy lip as she stood up.
"Fine! You’re the one issuing the grounding order! Just as well, I need to go home to prepare for the wedding, and I don’t want to work anymore! Even if I become a housewife, Dad and Chase will support me! But you, just wait for your superior to discipline you!"
She walked two steps and then came back.
Unwilling to accept it, June said, "You know tomorrow is my wedding with Chase, right? I was going to give you an invitation, but now I see there’s no need! Just looking at you makes me angry!"
"Who says it’s unnecessary?" Annelise raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Give me the invitation."
Shock flashed in June’s eyes, "You know he’ll be there, right? Do you even have the face to see him?"
"Is it your place to speak about what happens between him and me?!" Annelise looked over.
"Fine! You’ll regret it!" June was so angry she laughed. She already had the invitation prepared.
She took the invitation out of her bag and slammed it down on Annelise’s desk.
"Here’s the invitation for you! Whoever doesn’t come is a dog, let’s see who’s embarrassed then."
After all, she is the eldest daughter of the Winter Family and the future young mistress of the Perry Family.
The only one who will be embarrassed is that unwanted imposter, Annelise.
After delivering her harsh words, June walked off with a proud and cold face.
The group of girlfriends wanted to follow but had to stay for their medical exams, only feeling regretful, not daring to chirp more.
They didn’t have the same backup as June.
Being grounded is simple, but getting cleared to fly again is hard.
Annelise wasn’t affected by June’s disruption at work.
She finished her shift by 9 a.m., and was going to take two days off afterward.
After handing over her tasks to her colleagues, Annelise planned to take a long-overdue vacation.
Director Thompson of the appraisal center saw the grounding order Annelise gave to June, causing her eyelids to twitch.
"Grounding June is no small matter; she’s the face of our airline, and she’s about to marry into the Perry Family. Issuing a grounding order due to personal grievances could cause big trouble for our appraisal center."
Annelise responded earnestly, "It’s not due to personal grievances. My orders comply with regulations and can withstand scrutiny. Rest assured, Director, I’ll bear any consequences alone."
"You’re so stubborn!" Although Gina sided with her protégé, she couldn’t control the situation. "I’ll approve your leave to let things cool down. Whether this affects you depends on the other party’s reaction! If there’s any blame, I’ll try to speak on your behalf."
"Thank you, Director Thompson."
With her leave approved, Annelise had no time to think about work.
She sold everything valuable she owned, asked the bar owner where she had a part-time job to help her find money-making opportunities, and even advanced six months of her salary.
She managed to gather a total of 30,000 dollars.
The next day, Sylvia called to tell her that her boyfriend’s family member was sick, so he couldn’t accompany her to Chase and June’s wedding.
Annelise said it was fine; she didn’t want to burden her friends anyway.
Thus, she went alone to Chase and June’s wedding reception.
Annelise used to be a daughter of the Winter Family.
It wasn’t until she was twenty years old that she was told she had been switched at birth.
When she was later kicked out of the Winter Family, she vowed in front of everyone.
She would never step into the Winter Family’s house again.
Chase and June held the wedding at a manor, not at the Winter Family home, so her attendance didn’t break her vow.
The understated yet extravagant Rosewood Keep, a private vineyard with a century-long history.
The epic wedding of the Perry Family and the Winter Family was held here.
Not wanting to attract too much attention or cause a scene, and to avoid that person, Annelise arrived a bit late.
By the time the wedding finished, it was already afterparty time.
Annelise wore her only black evening dress.
Even though the dress had been worn a few times and was somewhat worn out.
But with her natural beauty, even the simplest clothes looked like high fashion on her, dazzling and eye-catching.
Even without makeup, her face was no less impressive than any brilliantly dolled-up star present tonight.
"Look, isn’t that Annelise? She used to be the little princess of the Kybourne Circle, even the most elite sons were bewitched by her. How does she even have the face to come here?"
"Young Master Perry played with her for five years before dumping her. She couldn’t marry into the Perry Family and is still unwilling to give up!"
"She deserved it, right? If she hadn’t been playing both sides, would Elias Warner have gone abroad for five years, refusing to come back?"
"Even after all that, Mrs. Warner still adopted her as a goddaughter due to their past connection!"
"Goddaughter? Please, they just don’t want her setting her sights on him again. She wasted her good hand in this game."
June thought Annelise wouldn’t dare to come.
Suddenly seeing Annelise.
The fighting spirit reignited instantly.
"Dad, Chase, look, my sister is here."
With that, the faces of both the Winter and Perry families turned cold!
Afraid of causing a scene, Mr. Winter, Colin, suppressed his anger, grabbing Annelise and pulling her close, "What are you doing here? Aren’t you worried about being embarrassed? Who gave you the nerve to ground June?"
June, holding onto Colin with one arm and Chase with the other, said, "Dad, don’t blame Sister. I invited her! She’s here to bless me and Chase."
With so many people backing her, she didn’t believe Annelise could do anything to her.
"Right, my dear?" June’s voice was sweet and charming, tilting her head up proudly as she gazed adoringly at the man beside her.
Chase, the third son of the Perry family, from a prestigious background.
Chase’s grandfather was Elias Warner’s grandfather, making the two of them cousins, and also mortal enemies.
To Annelise, Chase was a good buddy, someone who risked his reputation to help her.
Because of the act they put on before, the two were tied together for five years.
Because of that act, they turned against each other, creating a rift.
At the moment, Chase, dressed in a groom’s tuxedo, tall and handsome, couldn’t take his amorous eyes off Annelise since she appeared.
"Weren’t you never going to have contact with us again? Changed your mind without telling me?"
Annelise owed Chase too much, more than she could repay in this lifetime.
The least she could do was draw a clear line between them.
She replied coldly, "I’m here to retrieve something. Once I have it, I’ll leave."
June was immediately on high alert, like a mother hen protecting her chicks, standing in front of Chase, terrified that Annelise might snatch the groom.
"Chase and I are already married. Don’t think you can take him away from me."
Chase laughed in exasperation; how could Annelise want him? "June, are you dumb?!"
Annelise was straightforward, her cold eyes scanning June, "I want back my Peace Lock."
