Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 39: Taken to Meet His Daughter
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: TAKEN TO MEET HIS DAUGHTER
"Check what?" A cold sweat broke out on Annelise Winter’s back.
"Check if these reports are real, check if you were ever pregnant back then!" Elias Warner’s dark eyes surged with huge waves, enshrouding her deeply in his gaze.
His breathing was so intense, his entire body tensed up due to the stimulus from those prenatal check-up reports!
Originally, he didn’t believe it!
He thought this woman considered him stupid, and wanted to use such an excuse to force him to take on the role.
Because Chase Perry couldn’t marry her, because today’s matchmaking men were lousy, she couldn’t find better.
All efforts in vain.
So seeing him return to the country, she remembered him!
But when she presented those prenatal check-up documents, Elias Warner actually believed her for a moment!
Annelise Winter was unwilling; she thought he might investigate the truth of her being pregnant.
But she didn’t expect him to take her for a physical examination.
Five years ago, fearing that the Warner Family would expose her if she got pregnant and gave birth.
She was particularly cautious.
In the country, at that time both had just broken up, her mood extremely down, living each day in despair and pain, wishing for death.
She couldn’t remember how long her period hadn’t come.
Later her stomach felt uncomfortable, she always wanted to vomit, her chest felt swollen, then she suddenly realized, her period hadn’t come for nearly two months.
She was in a panic, afraid to go to the hospital fearing they might really find her pregnant, which couldn’t possibly be concealed, Elias Warner’s mother would undoubtedly be the first to know and would promptly take her to get an abortion.
So she only went to the pharmacy to buy test strips.
She bought lots of test strips, from different brands, all showed two bright red deep lines.
No need to go to the hospital for further confirmation, because she instinctively knew she was truly pregnant.
That feeling was magical, without any doctor’s examination report, she just knew she was pregnant with his baby.
How could she bear to abort it?
To protect her Luna, Annelise Winter didn’t hesitate to seek help from Chase Perry again, which led to the following year in Breslin.
Arriving in Breslin, even if she chose an obscure small hospital, there was still the risk of subsequent prenatal records being discovered.
So Chase Perry faked an abortion certificate for her.
All following prenatal examinations were done at a tiny, nearly bankrupt private hospital.
This is why her daughter had such severe heart disease yet it wasn’t discovered.
Pregnant at that time, she lived each day on thin ice, fearing Renee Perry’s discovery.
How dared she go to big hospitals?
Even in Breslin.
But nobody understood more than her, even if then the prenatal check-up found the daughter’s heart problem, she wouldn’t bear to terminate it.
She owed her Luna.
Therefore, no matter what, she must be beside Luna.
Once she recovered, she would take her to see the mountains, rivers, and seas, loving her well.
Thinking of Luna, Annelise Winter couldn’t wait to run to her daughter’s side, she clenched her fists tightly, "After the examination, will you marry me?"
Elias Warner lifted her chin, forcing her to gaze into his eyes, "You’re overthinking it."
He caressed her skin, his voice slow, saying, "If it’s proven that you were indeed pregnant at that time, but aborted this child, and this child happened to be mine, I will kill you!"
Annelise Winter’s breath suddenly stiffened, she steadied her mind, "What if it’s proven that I wasn’t pregnant?"
"Then you must die even more!"
Annelise Winter simply didn’t want to continue with him, she turned her face away avoiding his touch, "Then I won’t do the examination!"
Either way, she dies!
If she does the examination, how can the traces of having given birth on her body remain undiscovered?
She pretended to flee but was pulled back by Elias Warner, who tightly clasped her waist from behind, entrapped her in his embrace, long-arm and long-legged encircling her.
"It’s not up to you!"
Annelise Winter wasn’t his match at all, kicking and struggling, the next second the man picked her up and slung her over his shoulder.
"Elias Warner, you bastard, put me down!"
He carried her out with long strides, receiving a phone call midway.
It was Dr. Flora.
"Mr. Warner, sorry to disturb you, where have you gone? Luna woke up and couldn’t find you, cried so sadly, well, I shouldn’t have bothered you... But I’m really out of options! Her mother couldn’t be reached either."
Annelise Winter was carried on Elias Warner’s shoulder, hearing everything clearly.
Luna cried again, about to undergo surgery, she must be so scared and desperate.
Annelise Winter’s head swelled with blood, all of it rushing to her head because of being upside down, she pinched and scratched him.
"Elias Warner! Put me down!"
But this pain to him was just like itches.
He directly told Dr. Flora on the phone, "Sorry Dr. Flora, I’ll be there shortly."
He was about to take Annelise Winter for the examination anyway, so just also go to Luna’s hospital.
No, no, if Luna sees her like this, it would be exposed.
The dual chaos and unease engulfed Annelise Winter.
But she was simply not Elias Warner’s match.
Sick and tired of her scratching, as soon as he put her in the car, Elias Warner pressed down his anger, pulled off his tie and tied Annelise’s hands.
Then fastened her seatbelt.
Annelise couldn’t even move.
Until arriving at the hospital, the tie binding her hands wasn’t untied.
Elias Warner lifted her horizontally, Annelise Winter knew struggling was useless, she looked at him angrily, tears in her eyes, "I don’t want to lie on the examination bed to be seen by someone else!"
It’s simply humiliating.
Cold instruments or the doctor’s hand penetrating her body, in the next second the truth whether she has given birth could be revealed.
Hearing her say this, Elias Warner frowned, "Let’s see a kid first."
"Who is the kid to you?"
Annelise Winter looked at his square, tense jaw, asking impulsively.
Perhaps sensing her gaze, Elias Warner glanced down at her, "My daughter."
Annelise Winter never expected to one day hear such words from Elias Warner’s mouth.
He said Luna was his daughter, even if only a pretender, temporarily.
Annelise Winter felt it was real.
Nose tingling, Annelise unimaginably became obedient, "Didn’t expect Captain Warner to have a daughter? I really miscalculated, even used an unborn child to threaten you, hoping to evoke your pity."
"Since you even have a daughter, why should I keep tangling? Let me down, I’ll withdraw."
Elias Warner didn’t expect such a reaction from Annelise Winter.
Originally just wanted to probe.
Wondered how she’d respond to him having a daughter.
Unexpectedly, there wasn’t a trace of sadness or disappointment in her eyes, but rather saw blessings and completion.
Anger surged up in this instant.
"Want to withdraw now, but it’s too late, isn’t it?"
"If you take me to meet your daughter, I might say something ridiculous!"
"Ridiculous about what?" Elias Warner frowned.
"Say I am her dad’s first love, the first woman her dad slept with, if I hadn’t dumped him back then, she probably wouldn’t have had a chance to be born."
"You wouldn’t dare!"
