Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 48: He Discovered Luna’s Origins
CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER 48: HE DISCOVERED LUNA’S ORIGINS
She doesn’t dare to lie.
Although she’s not sure if he has discovered her relationship with Luna, she’s certain that she can’t change her stance now; changing will only make it harder to explain.
Elias Warner sneers scornfully, "Fine, I’ll believe you this once."
As he speaks, he unexpectedly lets go of her.
Annelise Winter falls awkwardly, her long hair a disheveled mess, her red eyes looking as though she had been harshly bullied.
Annelise didn’t expect him to let her go just like that; biting her lip, she gathers her skirt and looks back in a daze.
Elias Warner is already leaning back in his chair.
His legs spread wide, a solemn expression as he wipes his hands; his angular side profile is cast in shadow.
His voice is deep, each word striking hard at Annelise’s heart.
"So, for the sake of being with him, you didn’t even think twice before aborting the child?"
Annelise’s heart suddenly flutters with panic.
Yet she also breathes a sigh of relief.
He probably hasn’t discovered her relationship with Luna, otherwise he wouldn’t ask like this.
He should have exposed her long ago.
Annelise doesn’t know whether she should accept the unfounded charge he suddenly placed on her.
Seeing her silent, Elias directly convicts her, "You aborted my child and still want me to take responsibility, Annelise, tell me how I should punish you?"
He seems tired.
Closing his eyes, he reclines; even the light stubble on his chin doesn’t diminish his cold allure.
Annelise’s heart feels like it’s being cut with a thousand blades.
The tip of her nose tingles, she endures it, her palms slowly clenching tight, "How do you want to punish me?"
Her sins are many; she has to atone for Chase Perry, and for betraying him, for harming his child.
He must hate her even more now.
Hate her so much that he feels dirty touching her.
Elias Warner’s shirt collar, because he just had a confrontation with Chase Perry, has two buttons undone, his Adam’s apple moves, yet he remains silent for a long time.
After a while, the car window is tapped.
Elias Warner slowly lowers the car window.
Uncle Ford is outside, respectfully inquiring, "Young Master, it’s time to go to the airport."
The man’s Adam’s apple moves, "Go."
Uncle Ford and Zane came along with Annelise on the private jet yesterday.
Upon receiving the order, the two got into the car, but Annelise reached for the car handle, barely about to open the door.
Behind her, the man’s voice resounds.
"Sit down."
Annelise’s palms are sweaty, "Aren’t you going to the airport? Is your flight back home today? Then I’ll find my own way back."
Up front, Uncle Ford hears her speaking and turns to explain, "Miss Annelise, we are going back with Young Master today."
"No need."
Annelise waves her hand repeatedly.
She just arrived yesterday; she can’t leave so abruptly today.
There isn’t enough time; she hasn’t even waited for her daughter to wake up.
Elias Warner open his eyes, his cold gaze meeting hers, "What? You are unwilling? Or don’t want to go?"
"I am not."
"Reluctant to leave Chase Perry?"
"No." She doesn’t want to cause any more trouble for Chase Perry.
His relationship with Elias Warner is already strained enough.
"Then what is it? Give me a convincing reason."
"I coincidentally took annual leave, and finally managed to come; I want to look around Breslin, and I promised Chloe Joyce to help her buy a bag."
Upon hearing this, Uncle Ford in the front seat can’t help but shoot her a peculiar glance.
Elias Warner is truly infuriated enough to laugh, "Drive!"
"No! Wait!"
But it’s too late to stop as the black Cullinan speeds away, roaring down the road.
At this moment, Annelise’s heart shatters.
The next second, Elias Warner lifts her chin, "I’m taking you back to punish you. Do you think I’d leave you and Chase Perry in Breslin together?"
Annelise’s heart turns to ash.
Desperately wishing to die.
She has to grip her palms hard to prevent herself from crying.
Indeed.
She came on his private jet.
Came under the name associated with him to Breslin.
Chase Perry is still in Breslin.
Now, he’s leaving, how can she stay?
And at this moment, the phone rings.
It’s Annelise’s phone.
Erin Winter’s face suddenly changes.
Since arriving in Breslin, she had removed the domestic SIM card, keeping only the one registered under Jane Shaw’s name.
Usually, only the hospital calls her on this number.
"Why aren’t you answering?"
Elias Warner’s dark gaze envelops her as if he’s trying to see through her.
Annelise tightens her grip around the phone inside her bag, takes a look at it, and calmly hangs up, "Oh, a telemarketing call."
Elias Warner looks at her coldly, "Is that so? Then why can’t I reach your phone?"
He remembers, when he encountered her with Chase Perry earlier, he called her, but the phone didn’t even ring once before indicating it was unreachable.
"You called me? How did you know my number?" Annelise’s heart leaps into her throat.
"Give me the phone."
Elias Warner extends his hand, directly commanding.
Annelise places the phone back into her bag, shaking her head, "There’s nothing to see."
But Elias Warner snatches her bag away.
He opens the bag, trying to take out the phone.
Annelise leaps forward to snatch it, "What are you doing!"
She throws herself onto him, refusing to let him see. He has already taken out the phone, and with his long arms, holds it high above his head, not giving her a chance to grab it.
"This is my privacy, Elias Warner!"
"You want privacy?" Elias Warner tightens his grip on her wrist, stopping her from further movement, "Need I remind you, you’re in a state of atonement now; everything of yours is under my say."
Just as he’s about to press on the phone screen.
The wallpaper on her phone is Luna.
She was careless.
And at this moment, the phone rings again.
Annelise directly goes to cover the man’s eyes.
Her movements are urgent and quick because the phone screen is facing her; she sees at first glance that the hospital is calling.
It’s Luna.
Not knowing what has happened.
Not being by Luna’s side, Annelise’s heart twists painfully.
But if she answers the call now, it would inevitably reveal everything.
She can only desperately cover the man’s eyes.
However, her movements are too large, and in a moment of lost control, she ends up kneeling on the car seat, even lifting herself entirely.
Her whole chest, fully buried in the man’s face.
Almost, covering his breath.
So soft, she didn’t notice at first, but felt something wrong when pressing down.
The soft area of her chest, separated by a thin layer of fabric, seems to have warm breath coming onto it.
She freezes entirely.
Almost instantly, she feels the man’s muscles tense!
Annelise’s heart stops!
She’s ashamed, wanting to get up, but feels her lower back pressed hard by the man.
"What are you doing!"
She frantically pushes him away.
"Annelise Winter! You’re something else!"
The man’s voice trembles, gritting out her name.
Annelise knows she can’t explain no matter how much she wants to, so she doesn’t bother, jumping up and finally grabbing the phone back!
Then she retreats like she’s avoiding a plague, hiding to the opposite side of the seat, her back against the car door.
Evidently, she threw herself onto him first, yet it seems she’s the one aggrieved now.
Annelise’s lips are nearly bitten until they bleed, "What are you doing!"
She’s both ashamed and angry, even the front of her dress stained with moisture marks.
Their eyes meet.
The man’s dark gaze seems to want to swallow mountains and seas, burning with a fiercely blazing fire.
