Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 62: Sylvia Comes to Catch an Affair
CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 62: SYLVIA COMES TO CATCH AN AFFAIR
Annelise thought it was Uncle Ford again, but because of Herbert Alden, she remained vigilant.
"Who is it?"
Unexpectedly, the voice outside the door was Sylvia Lowell’s.
"It’s me, Annelise."
Thinking of Elias Warner in the bathroom, Annelise’s breath tightened.
At that moment, the bathroom door was also opened by Elias Warner.
Annelise glanced at the bathroom and saw Elias Warner was already dressed up and ready to come out.
Obviously, he heard the knock at the door as well.
Without thinking, Annelise quickly got up and took a few steps to the bathroom door, ready to let Elias Warner hide first.
Accidentally, she bumped into Elias Warner.
Her soft cheek sank into his muscle, and her face instantly turned red, including her ears.
Letting him hide back in the bathroom was not safe, Annelise glanced around.
Then, without caring about the shyness, she forcefully pushed Elias Warner towards the balcony.
"Someone is coming, you hide first."
But Elias Warner remained unmoved, his dark eyes tightly surrounding her, "What are you doing? Feeling guilty?"
Elias Warner saw Annelise’s panic and unease, knowing the visitor must be someone she cared about.
He actually wanted to see who had come.
Annelise didn’t admit it, "Guilty about what? My friend, Sylvia Lowell, you know!"
Upon hearing this, Elias Warner’s pupils turned colder, glancing at the door.
He frowned, "Then why are you panicking?"
Annelise didn’t want to involve him anymore.
If someone discovered him here now, with many eyes in the apartment, it would lead to misunderstandings.
It wouldn’t be a good thing for him.
"Just bear with it for a bit, okay?!" She couldn’t worry about so much and directly pushed him to the balcony.
Elias Warner looked down at her, his large hand grabbing her wrist, "Did I embarrass you?"
"No... I just don’t want to cause you trouble."
Annelise hurriedly explained, looking at the man’s hesitant eyes, she could only turn away cruelly!
She closed the balcony door tightly, then sighed in relief, trying to stay calm as she went to open the door.
The door opened to reveal Sylvia Lowell in a lazy long dress.
"Sylvia, why did you come so late?"
Sylvia looked at Annelise with worry, glancing at her bandaged knee, her gaze accidentally sweeping over the room, "Annelise, I was worried about you, didn’t even have time to eat, rushed over to see you. What were you doing? Why is your face so red?"
"Oh, nothing, I just took a shower, the wound is bandaged, I’m sorry, Sylvie, for making you worry again!"
Annelise considered Sylvia her best friend, who always looked after her meticulously.
"As long as you’re okay, Annelise, can I stay with you tonight? I’m worried about you being alone, look at how swollen your leg is?"
With that, she warmly pushed Annelise into the room.
"I just got back from abroad and haven’t chatted with you properly. I wanted to ask you last time, have you been experiencing something lately?"
"Sylvie!"
Annelise wanted to refuse, but before she could speak, Sylvia already pulled her to the sofa.
Sylvia wasn’t visiting Annelise’s apartment for the first time; she was worried as usual.
"What’s wrong? Why do you look so pale?"
Annelise touched her face, biting her lip as she looked at Sylvia.
She knew from selling the suit last time to getting injured today, some things couldn’t be hidden from her friend.
But she didn’t know how to express it, moreover, Elias Warner was still hiding on the balcony, she feared he’d come out, disregarding her.
"Don’t you have an engagement tonight? Your parents will worry if you rush over! My place is small, not even as big as your villa’s bathroom, I’m afraid you won’t be comfortable staying here."
"What’s uncomfortable?" Sylvia raised her eyebrow at the room that could be seen at a glance, her gaze inadvertently landing on the nightstand, on a man’s wristwatch there, "I dream of cuddling my lovely Annelise, okay?"
Suddenly teasing with a mysterious smile, "Annelise, you don’t want me to sleep with you, are you hiding a man in your apartment?"
Annelise was first startled, then chuckled awkwardly, "Sylvie, what nonsense are you talking about? If I had a boyfriend, you’d be the first to know!"
Not realizing, there were traces of a certain man’s recent visit in the room.
"That’s a promise! Come here, I brought your favorite soufflé."
Annelise wasn’t in the mood to eat.
If Sylvia stayed overnight, what would happen to Elias Warner locked on the balcony? He’s so proud, never so embarrassed.
She was pondering how to communicate with Sylvia.
Sylvia had already stood up, elegantly fanning herself, "Annelise, your room is so hot, why is the balcony window so tightly shut, I’ll open it for some air. It’s cool outside tonight!"
Sylvia got up and walked towards the balcony.
"Sylvie!"
Annelise tried to stand in front of Sylvia, but due to her leg injury, she couldn’t stop her.
Annelise’s heart was about to leap out of her throat, it wasn’t that she didn’t want her friend to know about her reunion with Elias Warner.
She didn’t want Elias Warner to get into trouble because of her.
But it was too late to stop; the balcony door was pushed open from the outside!
"Screech!"
The sound of the door sliding across the floor made Annelise’s heart jump to her throat, she even gave up struggling.
Unexpectedly, when the door opened, even the curtain was drawn, letting the nightlight in.
The balcony was empty.
Both of them stared at the balcony stunned.
After a while, Sylvia looked back at Annelise, "Still feeling hot, I’ll take a shower first, and then we can chat in bed while watching a series?"
Sylvia pulled Annelise away from the balcony.
Annelise’s heart sank heavily, wondering how in just a few minutes, Elias Warner’s figure vanished from the balcony.
How?
She was on the fifth floor.
How did he leave? Any possibility made Annelise regret!
While Sylvia was in the shower, she quickly went to the balcony.
Sylvia hadn’t seen Elias Warner just now, so where was Elias?
She peered around, only to see Elias Warner’s black Hongqi limousine arrogantly parked downstairs, unashamedly bold.
