Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!
Chapter 74: Luna Is Your Daughter
CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 74: LUNA IS YOUR DAUGHTER
Chase Perry shuddered, and before he could respond, the door was rudely pushed open.
As expected, Elias Warner appeared before him with a stern face.
"B... Big brother... why are you here?"
Chase stared in surprise at Elias Warner’s cold eyes.
Those eyes made him feel a chill down his spine; he sensed something bad was about to happen.
"Give me a reasonable explanation!"
Elias Warner’s tall and upright frame stood by the doorway; he didn’t take a step forward.
He pulled a cigarette from his pocket, his gaze sweeping coldly across.
"Wha... what..." Chase was frightened, his mind racing, thinking about why Elias Warner had come to find him.
It couldn’t possibly be to visit the sick.
Did he see through something?
No way, how could he!
Chase’s Adam’s apple moved slightly, observing Elias Warner’s facial expression.
He wanted to find some clues from his big brother’s demeanor and expression to see why Elias Warner was angry.
Elias Warner, with limited patience, got straight to the point, "What’s your relationship with that girl named Luna?"
He never believed in such illogical coincidences.
Sure enough, it was Luna!
Cold sweat broke out on Chase’s back, "What Luna?!"
Chase refused to admit it, pretending to be clueless.
Now Elias Warner should have no way to deal with him, right?
"Oh? Is that so? But I clearly saw you coming out of Luna’s ward just now!"
Chase thought to himself that it was over; Elias Warner had just seen him coming out of Luna’s room. If he didn’t admit it, with his big brother’s skills, he would eventually find out.
So he acted nonchalant and said, "Oh, you’re talking about that little girl? I just went to see her because the last time you were there with her for a few days, right? I heard people say she was your daughter, so I wanted to see if it was true!"
Chase calculated that this way, Elias Warner should believe him, right?
Unexpectedly, Elias Warner didn’t buy it at all.
This series of doubts now seemed to have a reason.
Like why Chase went to this hospital in Breslin last time, why Luna looks like him, and why Chase would go see Luna.
It could only mean that Chase had long known Luna and had some kind of connection with her.
"Is this your reason for going to Luna’s ward, Chase? She does look like me, and I find it strange how such a coincidence can happen. Turns out she doesn’t look like me; she looks like you! Are you the child’s father?"
Elias Warner clenched his fists, unable to control his emotions anymore.
If he hadn’t calmed down his emotions earlier before asking Chase, Chase might have already been punched into the ICU.
"Big brother, you can’t say things like that. How can you just make me a dad? Big brother, I really thought this kid was yours, so I went to see her!"
Chase tried his best to explain, finding it impossible to clear himself no matter what.
How could Elias Warner believe him!
Unexpectedly, Chase already had such a big child, which meant when he was with Annelise Winter, he was also fooling around outside with Luna’s mother, that woman named Jane Shaw.
Unable to hold back a cold laugh, Elias Warner looked at Chase slowly, "Chase, that little girl is already four years old, meaning when you were with Annelise Winter, you simultaneously got another woman pregnant!"
The coldness in those words was heart-piercingly sharp, scaring Chase to his face turning green.
"Brother, big brother, I really didn’t!"
Elias Warner narrowed his eyes at him, "Can you guarantee you didn’t?"
"I guarantee I didn’t. If she were my child, may the heavens strike me down, would that be enough? May I not die a good death, would that be enough?!"
"Alright, I’ll believe you this once!"
He spoke as if he would believe Chase, but when Elias Warner was about to leave, it seemed something crossed his mind, and he returned.
He came back to Chase’s side.
Instinctively, Chase covered his head.
"Why? You want to hit me again?"
"Ouch!"
Amid Chase’s exclamation, he only felt like his hair was being tugged.
When he looked up again, Elias Warner was already gone.
Chase then breathed a sigh of relief.
Once Elias Warner exited Chase’s ward, he immediately called his assistant.
Shortly after, a foreign man came over.
Elias Warner whispered something in his ear.
The foreign man nodded, took a hair strand from Elias Warner’s hand, placed it into a specimen bag, then tucked it into his pocket.
"How many days for the result?"
"The result can be ready today!"
"Good!"
Elias Warner instructed the medical staff to enter Luna’s ward and collect a strand of her hair, then handed it to the foreign male doctor.
Afterwards, he stood by Luna’s room door.
Through the glass, seeing Luna’s little face asleep and still with tears, Elias Warner thought that this child might be Chase’s.
He went to call Zane.
"Go investigate what Chase has been up to these past few years, whether he has any illegitimate children abroad? Especially take note of his actions in Breslin; report to me every detail over the past five years!"
"Yes, Young Master!"
Meanwhile, in Chase’s hospital room.
Even though Elias Warner had promptly left the room, because it involved Luna, Chase’s heart was suddenly pounding.
For some reason, he just had a bad feeling.
After thinking it over, he decided he must tell Annelise Winter about this.
Otherwise, he feared something really might go wrong.
Chase called Annelise Winter.
Coincidentally, Annelise Winter was also about to call to inquire about the situation on this side.
Unexpectedly, she received Chase’s call.
Originally wanting to avoid suspicion, she didn’t want to answer it, but since Chase was so persistent, Annelise Winter thought of the injuries on Chase and couldn’t bear not to answer.
"My big brother came to the hospital and saw me going to Luna’s ward. He suspects the child is mine, says I look like Luna, and even beat me up. I explained that it was because I thought Luna looked like him, so I went to see her. I just felt when he left, it was odd, could there be a problem?"
Annelise Winter was sitting on her bed, listening to Chase speak.
Unexpectedly, Chase suddenly told her about Elias Warner going to the hospital and seeing him with Luna.
This made Annelise Winter instantly uneasy, knowing Elias Warner’s mind, once he started doubting, he couldn’t easily shake the notion.
Unless the facts were clear and definite.
If Elias Warner investigates Luna’s relation to Chase and finds out they have a kinship, he would inevitably discover Luna’s origins.
Annelise Winter picked up her phone, went to the balcony, her mind thinking about what Elias Warner’s next move would be.
She said to Chase, "Don’t panic, Elias Warner is definitely not going to believe what you said so easily. Did he do anything else to you besides hitting you, like pulling your hair or..."
Annelise Winter was anxious.
Chase recalled, from the time Elias Warner entered and left, all of Elias Warner’s actions within such a short time.
He slapped his own forehead.
Suddenly remembering, as Elias Warner was leaving, he suddenly came back.
"Oh no, he seemed to have pulled my hair!"
"That’s it, from what I know of him, he’ll definitely use your hair and Luna’s hair for a paternity test!"
"Then let him do it! I’ll clear the obstacles, making sure he finds nothing!"
Chase wasn’t worried at all because he was actually not Luna’s father.
"Chase, you’re wrong, he will find out!"
