It waste at night when Willow finally drove home.

She was about to undo her seatbelt after getting home when she suddenly caught sight of something.

Julian had parked his car under the sycamore tree opposite her. He was dressed in all ck as he puffed clouds of smoke into the air. His Adam’s apple kept bobbing lightly, drawing her attention to it.

As the smoke rose into the air, it framed his face for a slight moment before being blown away by the gentle night breeze.

The night was dark and ck, and his clothes blended right in. It was as if he was part of the darkness himself.

When Julian caught sight of Willow, he frowned deeply at first. Then, he extinguished the cigarette and threw it to the ground, stomping out the embers before heading over toward her.

Willow didn’t want to talk to him, so she hurried into her apartment building toward the elevators while Julian’s hurried footsteps could be heard following her.

In the end, he managed to corner her against her own unit door. “Willow, we need to talk.”

“Talk?”

Willow took out the keys from her pocket and responded coldly. “What do we have to talk about?”

Those wet, steamy nights and Julian’s fake promises felt just like a feverish dream to her. Luckily, she’d never taken any of them

to heart.

She opened the door, and Julian immediately shot his hand forward to stop the door from opening.

After wrestling for a bit, Willow was pushed back against the wall next to the door, with Julian’s arms caging her from both sides.

His eyes stared deeply into hers. He was looking at her with a solemn expression on his face.

A whileter, he suddenly dipped forward, wanting to kiss her, just like he always didst time. But this time, Willow turned her head away, not letting hime close.

Julian stared at her, his voice low and scratchy. “What’s the matter?”

Willow’s face looked soft and fragile. Now that she was no longer the vice CEO of Neb Group, she looked a lot softer than usual,

naturally making men want to be more protective of her.

Julian swallowed again, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly, as he spoke in an even lower voice. “Willow, things aren’t like how

you saw it.”

Willow retorted, “Then what is it actually like?”

Even she was starting to look down on herself. Her own husband obviously had eyes for another woman and didn’t care about

gossip or rumors spreading about them, but yet, here he was, still clinging to her and pretending to still be in love with her.

This was just saddening and ridiculous. There was a hint of sadness in Willow’s voice as she said, “Julian, I said that we’re over.

“You asked me whether I still liked you or not that night, didn’t you? I hadn’t answered then, but now, I can give you my answer. Yes, I used to like you, but I don’t anymore. And I don’t just dislike you. I hate you and you disgust me more than ever. Are you happy with my answer now?”

There was a redness to Willow’s eyes when she was finally done speaking.

“That’s all I wanted to say. Don’te here anymore.”

With that, she opened the door to her unit, a sliver of light from the inside shining onto Julian’s lonely expression.

She went in, shut the door behind her, and looked up at the chandelier on the ceiling, trying not to let her tears fall.

Snowy immediately came over to her, tugging on the cuff of her pants and barking softly. Willow bent down to pick the dog up,

petting it lovingly, and said, “Are you hungry, little one? Let me give you some food.”

Snowy just barked in reply.

After she was done feeding Snowy, she decided to take a shower next. She caught sight of the ck men’s shirt when she went to

fetch her bathrobe. She’d worn it so many nights before as Julian held her in his arms.

Truth be told, she had felt her resolve shaking for those nights he held her in his arms.

She stared at the shirt for a long while. Then, she took it off the hanger and threw it straight into the trash.

She got into the shower after that.

The moon was brightly shining in the dark night sky. The sycamore tree danced slightly as its branches and dead leaves rustled in

the night breeze, sounding just like the sobbing of a young woman who had no one else to turn to.

Meanwhile, Julian remained seated inside his ck car, scrolling through some photos on his phone. Those were the wedding pictures he’d taken with Willow. In this photo, she rested her head on his shoulder and smiled sweetly at the camera.

At age b22/bb, /bWillow was still the vice CEO of Neb Group, and she looked extremely young for her age.

Julian couldn’t help reaching forward to caress Willow’s face on the screen. He wished he could feel the warmth of her smile against the cold of the ss pressing against his fingers as he recalled how much she used to like him in the past.
