bChapter /bb221 /b

Gabrie was awake in the swaddle. She had wless skin, bright beyes/bb, /band tiny dimples. She looked just like Julian.

Every father had a soft spot for their daughters, especially since Gabrie kept staring at Julian with her twinkling eyes. She could see clearly now and seemed to be curious about him.

He stared back at her as his heart melted. He carefully took Gabrie from Willow’s arms, feeling like something was lodged in his throat as he held her close.

She was so soft and light. Julian couldn’t help but lower his head and press it to Gabrie’s cheek. She smelled sweet and had that unique scent that only babies had. It was a smell that filled him with joy.

Tears filled his eyes, which was unlike him. This was what blissfulness felt like.

Esther quietly wiped her tears. She was just a regr employee, but she’d formed a bond with Julian after working with him for so long. She hoped beyond hope that this moment of bliss wouldst forever.

She said softly, “It’s chilly in the morning. Let’s bring the baby upstairs.”

Julian kissed Gabrie softly and looked at Willow. “Let’s go upstairs. I’ve prepared a nursery for Gabrie.”

Willow wanted to say it wasn’t necessary because they would only be there for three days. Ultimately, she decided against it.

On the second floor, the southernmost bedroom had been converted into a pink nursery. It was a soft shade that softened one’s

    heart.

Therge room didn’t just have a cot. There was also lovely and romantic.

Julian gently ced Gabrie into the cot. After removing the swaddle, he saw that she wore a onesie in the pattern of a cow. Her legs were long and straight, but her tiny feet looked like mushrooms. They were adorable.

He caressed her hair and looked at Willow. “I think she’s going to be a brte.”

Willow had taken her jacket off and was starting to unpack Gabrie’s things. She made a soft sound of agreement and said, ” Her hair’s pretty thick.”

Julian turned back to Gabrie. He grabbed her tiny foot and gently nibbled on it-

    was softer than jelly.

didn’t have teeth yet, so the action was endearing.

This tickled Gabrie. She kicked her feet and happily revealed her gums. She

Julian adored her. He kept staring at her, and she kicked her feet even more excitedly, seemingly sensing his love for her.

After a while, her face crumpled, and she burst into tears. Her tiny diaper seemed to bulge, and an odd smell permeated the air.

Julian was taken aback. Meanwhile, Willow calmly grabbed a new diaper. “She’s peed herself. She’ll be good to go once her butt is cleaned and diaper is changed.”

Julian’s eyes twinkled. “I’ll do it.”

He wanted to care for Gabrie as best as he could for the next three days–he wanted to fulfill his responsibility as a father. He also wanted to spend as much time as possible with her. Who knew whether he’d still have the chance to be with her in the future?

Instead of objecting, Willow asked, “Do you know how to do it?”

    bHe /brasped, “I went to bsses/b.”

As it turned out, men could also be excellent stay–at–home dads. Julian had always been smarter than everyone around him, and he looked like he knew what he was doing as he cleaned Gabrie with warm water. She didn’t fuss or cry. On the contrary, she kept giggling.

Esther covered her mouth as sheughed. “She knows how to pick the best spot,”

    The two nurses alsoughed.

Julian didn’t let this faze him. He carried Gabrie with one hand and filled a tub with more water to clean her again. He felt a mixture of bliss and sorrow as he did this–days like these were numbered.

He wanted to plead with Willow to stay by his side–to keep Gabrie with him. However, he was reminded of Landon. Perhaps it would be better for Willow to leave the country.

Gabrie was hungry. Honestly, all babies needed were food, sleep and someone to clean up after them. They didn’t need anything else.

As Willow fed Gabrieb, /bJulian gave her space and waited on the balcony after washing his hands. He gazed out at the trees in the backyard and saw that some of them had grown fruit.

Esther came to report to him about some official matters. When she was doneb, /bshe said, b“/bIf there’s no other way, you can temporarily leave thepany in the hands of a managerial team. Your body won’t hold out for long bif /byou continue like this.”
