leaving you bereft
Altar 29
Willow was aware of that, of course. That was why she did not turn down Julian’s offer right away. After all, who would say no to
earning more money?
However, she was no fool. Julian would not just make such a nice offer for no reason. He was not someone who would give away
his money so easily.
Willow smiled slightly. “What are the duties that I’ll have to fulfill?”
Julian looked at her and said crudely, “You need to cooperate with me for Project Aurelia. Also, you’ll need to satisfy me in bed.”
“Julian Ziegler!”
“I have urges.”
Willow did not agree to it right away. She replied tly, “I’ll consider it.”
Julian produced a document and handed it to Willow. “This is the agreement. You can get awyer to go through the details listed
in the document. We can discuss more if you have any other conditions.
“Even if there’s no love between us, we’re still family. Think about it, Willow.”
Willow agreed to consider his offer. Still, she insisted on leaving. She refused to stay there for the night.
Julian did not try to stop her this time. He had other matters to take care of that night.
It was already veryte by the time Willow exited the building. Most of the neon lights in the city had been turned off, leaving just
a handful of them that could be seen scattered around the area.
Just as Willow opened the car door, she witnessed an unexpected scene out of the corners of her eyes.
A man and a woman were clearly in a scuffle. The woman was trying to stop the man from leaving.
Willow recognized the pair.
It was Dexter and his girlfriend, Eleanor Sutton. Eleanor worked for the Neb Group as the head of the PR department. She was
a proud and capable woman.

rtionship issue.
Sadlyb, /bit bwas /balmost impossible for a woman to stop a man from leaving.
While they bwere /bshoving or yanking the other person, Dexter identally pushed Eleanor to the ground. Eleanor was wearing a

her calf. Blood poured from the wound instantly.
Dexter was momentarily stunned.

However, he did not linger, nor did he help Eleanor get up from the floor. He merely spared her one final nce before opening his car door. Dexter started the ck Rolls–Royce Cullinan’s engine and drove off shortly afterward.
Eleanor shouted at the top of her lungs, “Dexter, you bastard!”
After yelling for some time, she plopped down on the cold floor and stared into space. Her eyes were red.
Willow saw everything that had happened.
She knew very well how much of a yboy Dexter was. No matter how pretty or capable Eleanor could be, Dexter would never
remain faithful to her and her only. He had probably left earlier to meet his other lover.
Willow could not help but find the men of the Ziegler family oddly simr.
After a moment’s consideration, Willow walked toward Eleanor. She let out a soft sigh. “I’ll take you to the hospital so that you
can get your wound treated. It’ll be bad if it gets infected.”
Eleanor seemed even more shocked when she raised her head and saw Willow.
“Ms. Harper…”
“You don’t have to be so courteous around me. I won’t be going back to working at Neb again.”
Willow sounded calm and unruffled. She helped Eleanor get into the car and drove her to the hospital.
As a woman, Willow understood Eleanor’s situation pretty well.
Even though they had dated for three years, Eleanor still had not secured her chance to marry into the Ziegler family. Instead of Eleanor’s excellent capabilities at work, what Dexter needed more was a woman with a social background that was befitting to be
his spouse.
Therefore, the rtionship he had with Eleanor was bound toe to an end.
Eleanor cried silently on the way to the hospital. Inwardly, Willow felt a bit down as well. She could see glimpses of the old her
from Eleanor. How she had fearlessly given everything she had for love…
In the darkness, Willow’s voice cracked a little. “Actually, marrying into the Ziegler family doesn’t necessarily guarantee you a happy life. Material wealth won’t make you feel truly happy if your partner isn’t a good man.”
Eleanor froze.
b“/bIs Ms. Harper not happy with her marriage?” she pondered.
