Esther immediately did as he said. As soon as she was done, Julian kicked her out of the room.
Beyond the floor–length windows, the night was quiet. Julian had mostly sobered up by then, so he called Willow. He figured that she was probably still awake, and as expected, Willow soon picked up.
With a slightly hoarse voice, Julian asked, “Did you buy the shirts?”
“Yesb. /bThey’re a little ugly, though.” Willow said that on purpose. It wasn’t often that they got to chat like they were an affectionate married couple.
Julian chuckled. “I trust your taste, Mrs. Ziegler.”
He changed the topic, and his voice grew gentle, “Cameron Stone is having a concert, and he’s quite a good performer. I told Esther to get us two tickets. I’ll attend the concert with you when I’m back in Brindley,”
Willow was happy to hear that. She had been a fan of Cameron for six years, but she had yet to see him in person. Julian really knew how to set aside his pride and do what she wanted. It was only natural for her to be moved.

She couldn’t help but soften. “Thank you for remembering, Julian.”
The night was dark. Julian stood up and walked toward the floor–length windows. He was staying on the 32nd floor of the hotel, and he had a full view of the nighttime scenery of Yarrowmere.
All of a sudden, he missed Willow. It was the first time he was thinking about his wife at home instead of that person in Grandsburg.
He lowered his voice, sounding almost tender as he muttered, “I’ll go home early the day after tomorrow. I’ll take a private flight back, and you can pick me up at the airport. I want to see you.”
Julian had never said anything so romantic before, but he didn’t regret saying it. It just came out naturally with the mood. It was true that he missed Willow. He missed the way she would tie her tie, and how charming she looked when she was lying on their big, soft bed…
He thought, “The tenderness of a woman can really turn a man soft, and I’m no exception. I can draw the line between sex and love, though.”
Willow agreed after a moment of contemtion. She didn’t have anything in particr nned in two days, anyway.
Julian sent Willow the QR code, and he looked very happy after doing so. Esther could tell he was in love and teased, “You and Mrs. Ziegler have been getting along pretty well recently! People in thepany say that your temper has be much better. It’s like you’re full of life again.”
“Is that so?” Julian asked on purpose, his expression reserved. However, the upturned corners of his mouth revealed how happy he was to hear that.
Esther nodded boldly. “Of course! bI /bcan attest to that.”
Julian shed a light grin. He was about to return to the private room and rejoin the social gathering when his phone rang. It was a call from Grandsburg.
The look on his face was calm when he first picked up, but it gradually turned grave. He only said a few words in response before hanging up.
Esther was about to ask when julian started giving her orders, his phone still in hand. “Prepare the private jet right now. I need bto /bbgo /bbto /bGrandsburgb. /bTell Catherine to head to the airport. Please apologize to Mr. Chapman for me and tell him that I’ll make it up to him once I’m back in Brindley.”
Esther was stunned. Before she could ask any questions, Julian was already walking out hurriedly.
Despite everything he had arranged, he forgot to tell his wife about it. He forgot that he had made ns with her, that she was waiting for him in Brindley, and that they had agreed to meet at the airport in two days. He also forgot all the romantic things he had told Willow.
He said he wanted to see herb, /bbut he’d forgotten about it. How could he have forgotten?
