leaving you bereft
Altar 84
The morning light pierced through the thin mistb, /bcasting a soft glow into the bedroom.
Willow was packing her belongings. Aside from a few sets of clothes and Snowy, she didn’t take much.
It only took her a few minutes to gather everything. Then, it was time to leave the Ziegler residence.
The bedroom door swung open, and Julian stepped inside.
Moments ago, he just had a heated argument with Mnie. She used him of hiding Willow’s condition, while he felt she was being heartless and unreasonable.
The moment he entered the room, he saw Willow bending over, folding the sheets, which still held the warmth from the night before.
Julian walked toward her and wrapped his arms gently around her waist.
He didn’t say a word, but Willow understood what he meant.
He didn’t want a divorce.
She found it absurd, yet she still chose to respond calmly.
“Julian, look at how humiliating this marriage has been for me. Today, everyone heard that I couldn’t bear children.
“I can’t stay here after such an embarrassing episode. I can’t stand the way they’ll look at me.”
His voice was hoarse. “What do you n to do after you leave?”
Willow thought for a moment before replying, “I’ll just live as an ordinary woman. Maybe I’ll remarry, maybe I won’t.
“Either way, I won’t be your wife anymore.”
Julian’s voice grew even raspier. “What if I tell you I don’t care? That it doesn’t matter whether we have children or not?”
Willow was taken aback at first, but she simply didn’t believe him.
Julian was the CEO of Neb Group. He would need an heir eventually.
Furthermore, he was never the kind of man who put love above all else. There was no love between them, to begin with.
Words spoken in a moment of impulse couldn’t be trusted.
Willow just smiled faintly.
Julian held her tightly, his throat aching. “Willowb, /bit was very painful that night, wasn’t it?b” /b
Wrapped in his embraceb, /bshe could feel the warmth radiating from his body, momentarily soothing the scars of the past.
However, she didn’t linger in this warmth. The rift between her and Julian was too deep after years of build–up.
After a whileb, /bshe said calmly, “It doesn’t hurt anymore.
“Julian, now that everything is out in the bopen/b, I feel relieved and free. I no longer have to hide and worry about people discovering my bsecret/b.
“bIt’s /btime to let go. Julian, I have bto /bleaveb./b”
Julian refused bto /bbdivorce /bherb, /bbut bhe /bsaid he would give Willow bspace/b.
Willow had initially asked the driver to fetch herb, /bbut Julian insisted on driving her himself.
He said that they were still married, so there was no reason for her to leave the house on her own.
That would have been too cold and heartless.
Willow didn’t refuseb. /b
They were once husband and wife, so she wanted to part on good terms.
Just as Grace had bonce /bsaid, people didn’te to this world to hate anyone.
To forget was the best healing.
Willow didn’t pack much. All she carried was a small suitcase and a dog.
When she walked downstairs, the housekeepers were teary–eyed, reluctant to see her go.

She paused for a moment and said softly, “The New Year’s bonuses are with Sebastian. They’ll be handed out during lunch.”
A few housekeepers couldn’t help but wipe their tears, feeling that Willow didn’t deserve this fate.
But Willow had already made peace with it. She picked up her things and walked toward the exit, catching a glimpse of Mnie standing at the base of the stairs.
Mnie said solemnly, “I don’t dislike you. But Julian doesn’t love you. All I want is for my son to be happy.”
Willow smiled faintly. “You didn’t get your husband’s love either. So, I won’t hold this against you.”
Mnie’s face went pale as ash.
