CHAPTER 417: CHAPTER 417: LUO AN: YOU WANT TO CALL THE POLICE? PERFECT, I AM THE FBI

Las Vegas, Caesar Palace Casino.

Behind a slot machine, Luo An, with his bandaged left hand dangling in front of his chest as a disguise, was holding Mona, bending his head as if to kiss her. In reality, through the reflection on the colored glass panel next to them, he was observing the situation on the other side.

Just now at the gambling table, Luo An had been using his "emotion perception" ability. By comparing how others felt when they saw certain cards and deducing his own hand in relation to theirs, he was able to lose first and then win.

During this time, because there were too many people in the casino and the gamblers’ emotional fluctuations were too intense, Luo An chose not to let other people’s emotions distract him. He focused his "emotion perception" solely on his own table and ignored the other patrons.

However, after the game ended and Luo An walked away with Mona, his "emotion perception" suddenly detected someone following him. The person’s emotions were complex, with both warmth and chill coexisting—there was both fondness and repulsion.

Luo An was somewhat puzzled by this, but pretended not to notice. As he tossed the chips to Mona, he stealthily glanced backward through the casino’s ubiquitous colored glass and spotted someone disguised as a tourist—hiding her face with a drink, wearing black-framed glasses, a young woman.

Behind the slot machine, Mona, hearing what Luo An said, showed confusion:

"You’re saying she looks somewhat like me? Are you sure?"

"Positive."

Luo An slightly furrowed his brows. When he and Mona went behind the slot machine, the "emotion perception" in his mind detected that the person’s actions paused for a moment before turning away and quickly leaving the range of the "emotion perception," disappearing among the gamblers.

Mona wanted to ask more, but after a brief thought, Luo An raised a finger to her lips and whispered:

"Let’s pretend this never happened, and continue to dinner.

It’s not good to take action in the crowded casino, that person will surely come back later."

"OK."

Seeing the look in Luo An’s eyes, Mona nodded, her smile returning as she walked out with Luo An, laughing and discussing what she wanted to eat next.

Las Vegas is a large tourist city with countless restaurants and eateries catering to ordinary visitors, generally charging reasonable prices, with most dishes ranging from a few dollars to over a hundred dollars.

Luo An had just won over two thousand US dollars at the casino, and this time he and Mona did not go to any ordinary restaurants but instead went to a famous steakhouse. They experienced and ate several "antibiotic and hormone-free" standard steaks.

Luo An couldn’t quite tell what made these steaks different from the regular ones sold outside. Even after the chef used molecular gastronomy in preparing them, Luo An had to chew forcefully a few times and felt that they weren’t as tasty as those sold outside.

However, the ribs, shrimp cold dishes, and raw oysters at this restaurant were excellent, prompting Luo An to eat heartily.

After dinner, Luo An and Mona strolled along the brightly lit Las Vegas Strip while leisurely heading back to their hotel.

Along the way, it was smooth sailing; Luo An did not notice anyone following them. It seemed as if that person had completely given up on the matter.

"Sigh—"

They walked all the way to the parking lot of the hotel they were staying at, and Mona let out a slight sigh of relief.

Lifting her head, she was just about to share her thoughts with Luo An when he suddenly knitted his brows. Lightly pressing Mona’s slender waist, he pulled her against a parked red sedan and bent down to kiss her.

Mona was startled at first but subconsciously reciprocated. Under Luo An’s guidance, their entanglement slowly moved toward the driver’s seat of the car.

Suddenly, Luo An pinched Mona’s waist lightly, bringing her back to her senses. Before she could ask, Luo An pushed her aside, then yanked the door of the red sedan open and pulled out a young woman from inside.

The young woman was dressed in a red backless gown, her figure curvy, her legs long and slender, exuding an indescribable aura.

Caught by surprise, the young woman in the car shrieked. Luo An did not pay her any mind, his right leg firmly trapping her kicking thigh while his right hand grasped her two arms, pinning her to the ground with their backs to Mona, and said coldly:

"Mona, go through her handbag!"

From the moment he stepped into the parking lot, Luo An had felt the same emotional fluctuations as in the casino, and as he and Mona got closer, the emotional waves grew stronger. It was clear to him that the person tracking them was the same one from the casino.

"OK!"

The woman’s face was turned away from Mona, who couldn’t see her features clearly. Upon hearing Luo An’s words, Mona hurried to the driver’s seat to look for the bag.

The woman pinned under Luo An screamed in alarm:

"Damn it! I’m going to call the police! You two robbers..."

Luo An chuckled lightly and casually glanced at the young woman’s long legs, saying with a smile:

"I am the FBI, you can talk to me about anything."

The young woman: "..."

Mona quickly found the other party’s handbag in the car, which contained a folding dagger, a handgun, and three photos of Luo An alongside a dozen pictures of Mona.

These items didn’t concern Mona too much, as her full attention was drawn to the woman’s driver’s license and passport.

The name on the driver’s license was Celeste, and the name on the passport was Carol, not hard to guess that these were two fake names.

But the face on both documents was that of the same woman, and this woman’s face bore a striking resemblance to Mona’s.

Mona’s pupils shrank, and she quickly got out of the car, walked around to the front of Luo An and the woman, crouched down to see a face five parts similar to her own, and asked with a cold expression:

"Who are you?"

The young woman took a deep breath after looking at Mona and said:

"Let me go first, I mean you no harm."

"But the stuff in your bag seems to suggest otherwise."

Luo An held the young woman’s hands with his right hand, bent down, and picked up the handgun with his left hand that was pretending to be still injured, laughing:

"For self-defense?"

"This is federal territory, how does a woman protect herself without a gun?"

The young woman said convincingly, making Mona’s expression even darker:

"Answer me, who are you really?"

The young woman struggled a bit, looked up at Mona’s face which was fifty percent similar to her own, fell silent for a few seconds, and repeated the same sentence:

"Release me, and I’ll tell you."

Mona was about to ask more questions when Luo An suddenly heard the sound of security personnel not far away, so he threw the handbag to Mona and knocked the young woman out.

Standing up and hoisting the other on his shoulder, Luo An said:

"Somebody’s coming, let’s go back to the room first, we’ll ask later."

"OK."

Mona nodded, followed behind Luo An, avoided passersby from the hotel’s back door, and discreetly returned to the hotel room they were staying in.

In the room, Luo An ripped apart the curtains to tie the young woman to a chair while Mona, more direct, fetched some water from the bathroom and splashed it on the young woman’s face.

Splash—

The young woman instantly woke up surprised, Luo An sat studying the items in the handbag, and Mona with a cold face, arms crossed in front of her chest, was still stuck on the same question:

"Tell me, who are you?"

"Damn it!"

The young woman opened her eyes, saw she was tied to a chair and cursed under her breath, glancing first at Luo An, then fixed her gaze on Mona’s eyes, responding:

"My name is Caroline. Caroline Evans."

Hearing this name, Luo An paused in his movements and frowned at the young woman because Mona’s full name was Mona Evans.
