Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 520: Another Missing Agent, Smuggler Boss, Heading to the Bahamas
CHAPTER 520: CHAPTER 520: ANOTHER MISSING AGENT, SMUGGLER BOSS, HEADING TO THE BAHAMAS
Half an hour later, a beach several kilometers south of the crime-ridden port.
"These are all the death details of the victims at the port that day."
Next to a car, Chenier took out a few pieces of cardstock from her pocket and handed them to Luo An and the others while she explained:
"The local law enforcement only conducted basic autopsies on these victims; the autopsy reports weren’t even finished when I did a quick comparison of their information."
The port’s deceased, besides some suspected to be subordinates of the arms dealer Hamidun and victims from a sudden third-party power, included only four people from the Chicago Special Investigation Team and three agents from the FBI headquarters.
Chenier’s expression was cold as she said:
"The Chicago Special Investigation Team had seven members; the dead at the port included team leader Essen Patel, and members Allen, James, and Vivian, four in total.
We previously encountered Donita and Norberto who had escaped but were then captured.
As for team member Ivan, only his blood was found at the scene; his body was not there."
"Son of a bitch!"
Winslow cursed softly and said:
"Now it seems certain that Ivan is the mole."
Luo An’s expression didn’t change. Seeing this, Chenier handed the sheets of paper to him with a grim look and explained:
"The three agents from the FBI Washington Headquarters were all males, with the names of Wilson, Leon, and Alex.
The local law enforcement at the port found only the bodies of Wilson and Leon.
The last agent, Alex, just like the former, only his blood was at the scene, not his body!"
Winslow looked left and right, cursing under his breath:
"How did Minister Alexander pick these people, how could one operation produce so many moles?"
Chenier gave Winslow a look and said to Luo An in a low voice:
"The problem now is, who is Alex a mole for? What’s his purpose? And where is he now?"
Luo An rubbed his temples, feeling the case’s ins and outs growing more complex. After a few seconds of silence, he put away the documents, turned to Mona, and asked:
"Did you find the information on that snakehead’s subordinate?"
The primary target for the four of them now was to find the crime organization leader Jesper. Even though the snakehead was dead, his subordinates surely couldn’t all be dead—there had to be someone with information.
"That snakehead has a cousin who’s also in the smuggling business."
Mona turned her laptop around, showing Luo An a photo of a man, and said:
"He definitely knows something."
"Good."
Luo An gestured for Chenier to get in the car and then said:
"Winslow, drive, we’re gonna have a chat with this cousin."
————
Having learned that the bald man’s gang was also looking for Jesper, to avoid spooking the target, Luo An decided not to use their law enforcement identities for this.
He first had Chenier buy several black hoods, then had Winslow drive to a nightclub frequented by the snakehead’s cousin.
After waiting for a moment, the snakehead’s cousin walked out of the entertainment venue, smirking and with two heavily made-up women in tow. As the three headed towards the parking lot, the hooded Luo An immediately picked up a readily available brick and struck the snakehead cousin’s head.
Bang——
There was a muffled sound, the snakehead’s cousin rolled his eyes and went limp, Luo An swiftly covered his head with the black hood they had prepared.
Then Luo An gave each of the two women a ten-dollar bill to stop their screaming, finally hoisting up the snakehead’s cousin and throwing him into the car; Winslow floored the gas pedal, and the vehicle disappeared in seconds from the highway—the whole kidnapping done in under 30 seconds.
"..."x4
The two heavily made-up women, holding the ten-dollar bills in their hands, took a long time to come back to their senses; inside the car, Chenier looked shocked, and Mona had a speechless expression, thinking how Luo An seemed quite adept at this kind of kidnapping business!
Half an hour later, at the familiar breezy beach located several kilometers south of the crime-ridden port, the snakehead’s cousin slowly regained consciousness.
Just as he opened his eyes, the cousin saw not far away, a male and two females wearing black hoods, digging holes in the sand with tools.
"Woke up?"
The moment the snakehead’s cousin saw them, his eyes widened. The hooded Luo An chuckled at his reaction, pulled out the cloth from the cousin’s mouth, and asked:
"I ask, you answer. Otherwise, you’ll be sleeping in that hole. Got a problem?"
"Fu-k!"
The cloth in his mouth was removed, and the moment it was, the Snakehead Cousin started cursing aloud:
"You know who I am? Damn it..."
Bang—
Luo An didn’t waste words, and took his pistol to fiercely hit Snakehead Cousin on the head, then pointed the gun at him and demanded:
"I ask, you answer. Last chance, got it?"
"..."
Seeing the safety of the gun in Luo An’s hand was off, Snakehead Cousin broke out in a cold sweat and nodded strenuously, and then, as if realizing something, he frantically shook his head.
"Good."
Luo An put the pistol away and went straight to the point:
"What exactly happened the day your cousin died?"
Hearing Luo An’s question, Snakehead Cousin let out a breath and quickly answered:
"My cousin received a job that day. The client requested the fastest speed to leave the federation for the Bahamas.
My cousin was resting at the time and didn’t plan to agree, but the offer was too much..."
After hearing the tale from Snakehead Cousin, Luo An took a photo of Jesper out of his pocket and asked:
"Was he the one looking for your cousin?"
"I don’t know."
Snakehead Cousin shook his head. He didn’t follow along that day and hadn’t seen the face of the party, so he didn’t know who the big client was.
"But later, during the shootout, my cousin called me asking for help, saying those people were wearing bulletproof vests, armed with rifles, and seemed well-trained..."
Hearing how formidable his cousin described the enemies on the phone, Snakehead Cousin immediately... hung up and didn’t dare to go save him.
Luo An’s eyes shifted slightly; the description of the enemies by his cousin matched exactly the bald men they had encountered earlier in the abandoned industrial park, so the likelihood was that the person looking for Snakehead was Jesper.
After a few seconds of silence, Luo An continued to query:
"What about your cousin’s boat? Can you find it?"
"It’s already been taken to the Bahamas!"
Snakehead Cousin said that his acquaintance in the Bahamas had seen his cousin’s boat but hadn’t seen his cousin and had even called to ask him about it.
"Very good."
Luo An nodded in satisfaction, made a small gesture with his hand, and Winslow and the other two immediately stopped digging the hole. Seeing this, Snakehead Cousin breathed a sigh of relief.
Without waiting for Snakehead Cousin to speak, Luo An shook the pistol in his hand and asked with a smile:
"Last two questions: How long does it take to get to the Bahamas from here? And where is your boat?"
Snakehead Cousin: "..."
————
The Bahamas, an island nation on the west coast of the Atlantic, with 31 districts and 19 island groups, is the wealthiest country in the Caribbean region. Its GDP per capita only follows behind the federation and Canada in the Western Hemisphere and is a world-renowned tourist destination.
The straight-line distance from Florida to the Bahamas is about 80 kilometers, and it only takes half an hour by plane.
Having Trick Kennedy’s people secretly take Snakehead Cousin away, Luo An and the other three borrowed Snakehead Cousin’s boat, and in a few hours, they left the federation and arrived at one of the main islands of the Bahamas.
Stepping off the boat, Winslow, looking back at the rolling waves, said without words:
"I never thought my first time coming to the Bahamas would be for work."
"After this case is closed, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to fly here for vacation."
Luo An said with a smile as he patted Winslow’s shoulder, then took the three of them to look for the acquaintance that Snakehead Cousin previously mentioned.
The person had lived in the Bahamas for many years and most likely knew how to find Jesper.
Just then, Mona, who had been busy tapping on the computer keyboard with her head down, suddenly changed expression and spoke up:
"Wait, everyone, we might not need to look for Snakehead Cousin’s acquaintance anymore."
Luo An immediately moved to her side and asked:
"Did you find Jesper?"
"Not just Jesper, I’ve found another person."
Mona turned the computer screen around to show a photo to Luo An:
"Our Detective Alex, who went missing at the crime scene dock, he’s also in the Bahamas!"
