CHAPTER 522: CHAPTER 522: BATTLE ON THE ISLAND, A THIRD PARTY?
"Sniper! There’s a sniper!"
"Find cover! Cover!"
Upon hearing Luo An’s words, Captain John and the others were momentarily stunned. It was only when they saw bullets penetrate the trees that they came to their senses and quickly bent down to evade and seek cover.
"He’s on the south side!"
Glancing at the bullet holes on the trees, Luo An immediately deduced the sniper’s location and then loudly ordered:
"I’ll deal with the sniper! You all continue to advance and engage the enemy, I’ll be right back!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Luo An charged toward the area where the sniper was like a cheetah.
"Group Leader Luo An! Luo An... Fu-k!"
Seeing Luo An’s figure vanish in the blink of an eye, Captain John’s eyes bulged with urgency. He loudly commanded his team members to follow Luo An’s orders and keep moving forward, and then he quickly got up and chased after Luo An.
Meanwhile, the sniper, seeing Luo An rapidly approaching, revealed a cold sneer at the corner of his mouth, and after changing his position, he raised his rifle to aim at Luo An. Taking a deep breath for a few seconds, he suddenly pulled the trigger.
Bang!
The gunshot sounded, and the next second, in the sniper’s shocked gaze, Luo An, as if knowing that he had fired, stepped to the right in advance and dodged the bullet.
"Impossible!"
The sniper’s expression frozen and pupils dilated, his face filled with disbelief. On the other side, having seen that scene, Captain John was even more shocked; he felt chills on his scalp and completely didn’t understand how Luo An had evaded the bullet.
"Found you."
Sensing the new direction of the incoming bullet, Luo An immediately located the enemy using the "emotional perception" in his mind. A sunny smile spread across his lips as he quickly lunged toward the sniper.
"Fu-k!"
Seeing the cruel smile on Luo An’s face, the sniper, still shocked by the previous scene, went pale with fright. Quickly recovering, he moved the muzzle trying to attack Luo An again.
But at this moment, Luo An had already moved swiftly in front of the sniper, with Captain John watching incredulously. Luo An grabbed the sniper’s rifle with his left hand, lifting it upwards, while his right hand struck fiercely at the sniper’s throat.
Thump—
A muffled sound came as the sniper, struck heavily in the throat, turned red-eyed, released his grip on the gun, and clutched his neck as he gasped for air and toppled backward onto the ground.
Luo An took the opportunity to knock out the sniper with a punch, pulled off the enemy’s clothes to tie up his hands and feet, and by the time Captain John arrived, the sniper had been completely subdued and dealt with by Luo An.
"He’s all yours."
Picking up the sniper’s AR-15 with a high-powered scope from the ground and taking the remaining bullets from the sniper’s body, Luo An smiled, patted Captain John’s shoulder, and then quickly moved toward the direction where Winslow and the others had advanced.
Glancing at the sniper on the ground and then looking back at the rapidly disappearing figure of Luo An, Captain John gasped for breath, his lips trembling, completely at a loss for words.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bang bang bang—
Elsewhere, Winslow and the other six members of Captain John’s team had started a firefight with ten enemies of a new force.
From behind the new force, the remaining five pursuers, with a cliff and no way to retreat, also began to counterattack fiercely.
However, the new force’s enemies occupied a slightly elevated position and had the tactical advantage of the terrain. Despite having enemies on both sides, they had not suffered heavy casualties. Instead, they were pressing both the pursuers and Winslow’s group.
"Son of a bitch!"
A barrage of bullets swept across, forcing Winslow and his team to duck their heads. After cursing, he pulled out a grenade and loudly instructed:
"Throw grenades!"
The members of Captain John’s team answered in unison. They threw the grenades and they exploded with a deafening boom. However, unable to pinpoint the enemy’s exact location due to being suppressed by gunfire, the grenades did not achieve the desired effect.
Winslow cursed again, and just then, Luo An’s voice suddenly came through the communicator:
"Let me fire first, and then you throw the grenades."
Winslow, suppressed by the gunfire and unable to lift his head, did not hear it clearly and asked, puzzled:
"What do you mean?"
Bang!
The next second, a gunshot rang out from nearby, and an enemy from the new force fell to the ground with a red bullet hole in his forehead.
"Sniper..."
Bang!
The person next to him, on seeing the fate of his teammate, his pupils shrank, barely starting to shout when another gunshot sounded, and he too was shot in the forehead and fell backward onto the ground.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Another three gunshots followed, and three more enemies of the new force fell to the ground. The remaining five people then realized what was happening and hurriedly took cover behind obstacles.
Winslow now understood Luo An’s words as well, the corners of his mouth raising loudly:
"Grenades!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
No longer suppressed by gunfire, Winslow and the others clearly identified the enemy’s positions before throwing their grenades. Several explosions rang out, and the enemy forces of the new power immediately lost their combat effectiveness and were captured by Winslow and the others.
The remaining five pursuers, seeing that most of Winslow and his group’s equipment was similar to theirs, exchanged glances without attacking immediately, loudly asking who Winslow and the others were.
A gleam of something different flashed in Winslow’s eyes, and following Luo An’s earlier advice, he replied:
"We are Omalian’s teammates, previously responsible for chasing down the Chicago Special Investigation Team members!"
The air was silent for a few seconds before the other side pulled their triggers at Winslow and his group again.
Bang bang bang—
"Damn it!"
Winslow and the others quickly took cover, muttering a few curses under their breath, not understanding where they had slipped up.
Bang!
A familiar gunshot rang out from behind again, an enemy was shot in the forehead and fell, Winslow saw this and smiled, pulling out another grenade.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A few more explosions occurred, and the pursuers also lost their ability to fight.
Minutes later, with Captain John’s team looking on in admiration, Group Leader Luo An, holding an AR-15 rifle with a scope seized earlier, slowly approached from a distance.
By that time, Winslow and Captain John’s team members had already found Alex and Jesper with their hands tied.
"Good morning, Detective Alex."
Luo An handed the rifle to Winslow, looked at Alex covered in dust, and smiled:
"I heard from an agent of the Chicago Special Investigation Team before that you died at the dock that day, but to my surprise, you are still alive, and you seem to be doing quite well."
A flash of something different passed through Alex’s eyes. He took a deep breath, ready to speak, when Luo An casually stuffed a piece of rag into his mouth and then turned to Jesper, saying:
"Good morning, Mr. Jesper, it wasn’t easy finding you on this journey."
Jesper sighed deeply and asked:
"Who are you?"
"My name is probably unfamiliar to you, so I won’t bother introducing myself."
Luo An waved his hand, about to instruct his men to take them away when Winslow suddenly approached with a man.
Seeing the man’s face, a flicker of surprise passed through Luo An’s eyes, which quickly changed to understanding. Alex looked annoyed, Jesper was extremely astonished, and asked:
"Hamidun? What are you doing here?"
The man was indeed the trade partner at the dock that day for the Chicago Special Investigation Team and others, the arms dealer Hamidun.
Hearing the name Hamidun, before Hamidun himself could speak, the two captured members of the pursuers were even more astonished:
"Boss?"
Hearing the words of the two pursuers, Hamidun, his face covered in dust, suddenly started cursing loudly:
"Mother fu-ker! I’m not your boss!"
Looking at Hamidun, who was shaking with anger, Winslow, Captain John’s team members, Alex, Jesper, and others had confusion written all over their faces. Jesper was the first to speak up and ask:
"What the hell is going on?"
Jesper, captured by the pursuers, had always thought that they were sent by Hamidun.
Alex had the same belief because the group of pursuers always said that their boss, Hamidun, wanted to see them.
"How would I know?!"
Hamidun, who had been injured by a previous grenade, had a wound on his leg, gasping for air while cursing and indicating that he followed the group chasing Alex and Jesper to the Bahamas.
The new power mentioned by Luo An and his group was none other than Hamidun and his subordinates.
Beside them, Luo An stayed silent for a long time, his mind racing, then suddenly clapped his hands to draw everyone’s attention and said:
"Is there a possibility that a third party has emerged among you?
This third party is the real boss of these pursuers, but this boss uses the name ’Hamidun’ to issue orders to the pursuers to capture Alex and Jesper.
The sudden emergence of a third party at the dock who wanted to kill everyone was also ordered by this fake ’Hamidun’."
Hearing Luo An’s words, the group was even more confused, with both Hamidun himself and Jesper looking at each other as if they had realized something, their brows tightly furrowed in deep thought.
Just then, Chenier ran over with a serious face and said:
"Luo An, Mona just intercepted the pursuers’ communication devices. There is information showing that more than fifty enemies will be landing on the island soon!"
