Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 610 610: Female Journalist Identity, Interview
Hearing Vireness ask her to agree to an interview with that female journalist, Luo An remained composed, guessing at a possibility, and asked:
"Is that female journalist's identity extraordinary?"
"Exactly."
Vireness sighed, looked at the information in the folder she held, and introduced:
"Louise Hernandez, her father is the former Deputy Minister of the Defense Ministry, and her mother is the spokesperson for the Air Force Department."
Luo An's eyes immediately flashed with surprise.
Earlier, when he returned to the office area and heard Mona's simple description of the other party's physique and attire, Luo An guessed that the other party's identity was not ordinary.
Although the Federation has always claimed to be free and democratic, the reality of women's low status has always existed.
For example, Hollywood's actresses earn one-third to even two-thirds less than their male counterparts.
And in the various companies of the Federation, the "shape domination" of male supervisors over female employees.
A beautiful woman like Louise Hernandez, who also works in the media field where "shape domination" culture is most rampant, either has a strong background and is untainted, or is backed by a power broker, mired in mud.
Previously busy handling a serial murder case, Luo An had not temporarily investigated Louise Hernandez's background, but he really didn't expect that the other party's background would be so substantial.
However, Luo An still didn't quite understand something, and he asked puzzledly:
"Why does that female journalist want to interview me?"
"I don't know, maybe she wants to make big news."
Vireness didn't know the reason why the other party was so eager to see Luo An, she even activated her connections and found Mr. Clement.
"OK."
Luo An frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and said:
"Commander, I can accept the interview, but there are some things I must state in advance.
For example, certain details of cases cannot be disclosed, and the other party is not allowed to take pictures, nor can my appearance be published in newspapers, etc."
The Federation's land is vast, filled with talents, giving birth to many eccentrics, as well as various extremists.
Luo An didn't want to attract their attention, nor did he want too many people to know his appearance, to prevent inconvenience in his future life, such as retaliation.
Luo An was not afraid of retaliation aimed solely at himself.
But for those around him, such as Mona, such as members of the Investigation Team 13, once a retaliation incident occurred, Luo An could not 100% guarantee their safety.
"I know, and I've already spoken to the other party about these things in advance."
Vireness nodded and said:
"Louise Hernandez has agreed to everything, and she has also drawn up a list of questions. If there's anything inconvenient, Louise said that there can still be communication and modifications."
"..."
Hearing how cooperative Louise Hernandez was, the alarm bells went off in Luo An's mind after hanging up the phone.
After pondering for a moment, Luo An quickly walked towards the office area, patted Mona on the shoulder, and said:
"Mona, investigate that female journalist Louise Hernandez."
Mona, who was listlessly dealing with her work, straightened up immediately and became spirited upon hearing this, asking:
"Look into her for what?"
Luo An briefly summarized what Vireness had just said and expressed his doubts about Louise Hernandez's real purpose for the interview.
Mona's face changed slightly, her fingers dancing quickly on the keyboard, and soon she pulled up Louise Hernandez's birth record, academic history, and family information.
Seeing the identity of Louise's parents, Mona was equally shocked. Luo An thought for a moment and said:
"Mona, check what Louise has reported to society before."
Mona continued to type on the keyboard, and soon found the articles previously released by Louise.
A small portion were related to women's rights, equality, etc., but the vast majority were in the field of economic reporting.
"No military, no cases, not even the NYPD mentioned much."
Mona quickly skimmed through the report, her brows furrowed, as she looked up at Luo An:
"I think your guess is right, Louise Hernandez is likely targeting you, but why?"
With a puzzled face, Mona, the investigation results showed that Louise was not short of money and behind her were two ridiculously high-status parents.
If the target was the Pulitzer Prize, the highest award in journalism, there was no reason to go to Luo An.
Reporting on the cases handled by Luo An could significantly increase newspaper circulation, but the chances of winning an award were almost nil.
Unable to figure out a reason, Mona suggested:
"Maybe you should refuse the interview with this woman."
With his arms crossed in front of his chest, Luo An gazed at the information on the computer, pondering for a few seconds before slowly shaking his head:
"Avoiding it won't solve the problem. Confrontation is the best approach. At least we need to find out the other party's intentions."
Mona was somewhat displeased, but still dug out the business card previously pressed under the coffee pot, picked up the desk phone, and made the call.
The call was quickly connected:
"Hello, this is Louise."
Hearing the sweet voice on the phone, Mona didn't care about Luo An beside her, rolled her eyes hugely, pinched her nose in displeasure, and began to discuss the interview arrangements.
The two quickly agreed on the time and location for the interview tomorrow, after which Louise voluntarily hung up the call.
Click—
After hanging up the phone, Mona turned to look at Luo An, baring her white teeth, fixed him with a predatory gaze, and said:
"I'm coming with you tomorrow."
Looking at Mona in front of him, drenched in jealousy, knowing she'd pounce if he dared refuse, Luo An grinned and nodded.
Mona's brows raised slightly, not waiting to speak, Luo An continued as he pulled her hand toward the computer, saying:
"There's something else I need your help with investigating…"
---
The next day, the sun was shining, the air was pleasant... albeit slightly murky.
At 9:30 in the morning, in a temporary office space in New York, inside a conference room, Luo An met with the female reporter, Louise.
Today Louise had her hair up high, her face as cunning as a fox's, framed with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, wearing a dark blue women's suit, her slender legs encased in black stockings, leaving a scent trail as she walked.
Louise's mouth curled into a slight smile as she extended her hand to Luo An, saying:
"Hello, Group Leader Greenwood."
"Just call me Luo An."
It was Luo An's first meeting with Louise, and from a man's perspective, reporter Louise was indeed very attractive.
However, Luo An simply shook her hand briefly before retracting his arm, gesturing for Louise to take a seat, with Mona, standing beside, without expression, stepping forward to pour a cup of coffee for both of them.
After some small talk, Luo An steered the conversation to the main topic, smiling as he asked:
"I notice that Miss Louise's previous articles are all related to economics.
Although I majored in accounting in college, I now work at the FBI, and I've mostly forgotten that knowledge.
I'm curious, Miss Louise, why did you want to interview me?"
Sitting across the conference table, Louise, in her chair, laughed lightly at his words, her legs together titled slightly to the right, her big eyes blinking at Luo An as she spoke softly:
"What Group Leader Luo An really wants to ask is, what is my actual purpose for interviewing you, right?"
Luo An chuckled, not embarrassed at all, and went with the flow, asking:
"So, can Miss Louise answer my question?"
"Of course."
Louise nodded her head but didn't immediately respond to Luo An's question. Instead, she turned her head to look at Mona, standing expressionless on the side, and said:
"Before I answer, Miss Mona here needs to leave the room first."
