Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 621: NRA, C4 Explosives
Sunday morning, it was a busy one at the FBI Washington Headquarters, team thirteen's office area.
"Carlton is not a simple guy, is he?"
Michelle's words caught everyone's attention in the office area. She teased a little, quickly typing a few strokes on the keyboard to bring up some information, then explained:
"Carlton's bank account shows, in addition to his monthly salary from the design company, he has another considerable source of income."
Reesi hurriedly asked:
"Where does the income come from?"
Chenier glanced at the computer screen, sneered, and said:
"NRA."
NRA, the Federal Rifle Association, also known as the Federal Rifle Association, is a typical interest group at the federal level.
On the surface, the Federal Rifle Association is primarily devoted to hosting firearm safety training courses, organizing various shooting activities, sports, competitions, and promoting youth shooting sports and women's shooting projects.
But in fact, the organization is a front agent launched by the military-industrial complex, exerting tremendous political influence, persuading and lobbying politicians with huge funds, advocating for the federal right to bear arms.
All the agents in team thirteen knew what NRA was about, Reesi frowned deeply and asked:
"About eighty percent of white male gun owners in the federation are NRA members, and they donate some money to the NRA every year, more or less.
But it's rare to see money being taken out of the NRA, does Carlton have a part-time job there?"
"The term 'part-time job' is not quite appropriate, 'working' there is probably a better term."
Michelle continued typing a few keys, brought up a new page for everyone to see, and explained:
"Carlton holds a 'consultant' position in an NRA branch in Southern New York, and I can't find out the specific duties of this 'consultant' job.
However, before 1999, Carlton supported gun ownership but had not taken specific actions.
After 1999, when he began serving as a 'consultant', and after the first NRA fund appeared in his bank account, Carlton started to engage in debates and arguments against gun-control organizations."
After Michelle finished explaining, everyone on the scene suddenly realized, Luo An grinned and laughed:
"Taking money to get things done, a standard 'contract spirit' of the federation."
After a few discussions, Luo An then asked:
"Besides this, have those anti-gun organizations found any clues?"
"We've found a few guys who have significant disagreements with Carlton."
Michelle pulled up several photos, pointing to a white person, a black person, and a few others with obvious immigrant features, and said:
"They come from various gun-banning organizations and have all been rebutted by Carlton to the point where they couldn't respond.
Not only that, after failing in the debates, these people cursed at Carlton, not lacking threats to kill him or bomb him.
Additionally, a few days before the explosion, the whereabouts of these people were more or less unaccountable."
Seeing this, Mona's eyebrows were tight, and Reesi's face also looked quite awful:
"But these people don't seem to have any connection with you, Luo An..."
Before Reesi could finish, Luo An waved his hand to interrupt her, then stood up and ordered:
"Winslow, Chenier, go investigate these people in the photos, see their recent whereabouts records.
Earlier during the interrogation, Ham Mark mentioned, the suspicious black man gave him one hundred dollars, which he spent at a bar in Southern New York.
Reesi, you go to that bar to investigate, see if you can retrieve that Franklin, it might have the suspicious black man's fingerprints on it.
Mona, you continue to investigate the surveillance in the area near where the suspicious black man appeared, try to find him and clarify his identity."
"OK!"
"Understood!"
"No problem!"
Several agents nodded in unison and turned to go back to their stations to pack up and prepare to depart. Luo An then patted Michelle on the shoulder and said:
"Come with me to the Trace Examination Department to check the final investigative results of the crime scene."
"Alright."
Michelle nodded, quickly tidied up the computer on her desk, and stood up to walk with Luo An toward the elevator at the far end of the corridor.
————
Trace Examination Department, office area.
"The bomb at the blast site has a somewhat complex structure."
A trace examiner in a white coat extended his hand to shake with Luo An and then led Luo An and Michelle into the office, explaining as they walked:
"However, the material of the bomb has been identified. It's a C4 explosive mix."
Luo An raised an eyebrow and said:
"It seems the bomb maker is an experienced worker."
C4 is a plastic explosive with very high malleability, allowing the explosive to be molded into various shapes to alter the direction of the explosion for precise demolition.
Also, because it has advantages such as easy portability, high stability, powerful explosive force, and good water resistance, which TNT lacks, it is widely used by armies and various terror groups around the world, and is quite favored by professionals in the field.
"Indeed."
The white-coated agent looked at Luo An appreciatively and handed him a folder, saying:
"Additionally, the assembly method of the bomb at the crime scene has been used in another bombing case before.
That guy is called Luca Kurs, 35 years old, a veteran of the battlefield.
However, this guy was incarcerated for making and selling bombs three years ago, and there are still over ten years until the end of his sentence."
Michelle's expression turned sharp, and Luo An took the folder to look through it, casually saying:
"Luca here still has over a decade before he can leave the cell, but not necessarily his jail peers.
Prison is a torturous place for some people, but for others, it's a school, even a technical exchange hub."
The white-coated agent's eyes lit up and he laughed heartily, hearing this description for the first time.
Luo An then closed the folder and handed it to Michelle, before asking:
"Is there anything else?"
"Of course."
The white-coated agent nodded, leading Luo An and Michelle into another room, and said:
"The smaller box found at the crime scene, which contained a piece of paper with Group Leader Luo An's name written on it, through testing, it only has one person's fingerprints."
Looking at the test results, Luo An frowned slightly:
"Only this person's fingerprints on the box? What about the letter inside?"
"The letter inside is even cleaner."
The white-coated agent spread his hands:
"There are no fingerprints on that paper, not even a tiny bit of skin debris or anything else.
The person who wrote that letter either deliberately wore gloves, or he carefully inspected and cleaned the paper after writing."
"Really cautious."
Michelle's face looked grim, she muttered under her breath, then turned to look at Luo An. However, Luo An remained quite calm, discussing briefly with the trace examiner, then took Michelle towards the nearby elevator.
"Luo An, what do you think about this case?"
As the red numbers ticked, the elevator slowly ascended, Michelle pondered for a few seconds, then asked:
"I always feel something is off with this case.
Carlton and the other victims, the suspicious personnel from the gun-ban organization, and the unidentified black man, they all seem to be connected to each other more or less, but it seems like they have nothing to do with you, so why was there a piece of paper with your name at the scene?"
