Legendary FBI Detective
Chapter 783 785: A High Potential for Improvement
At seven in the evening, a secluded campsite in Yellowstone Park was illuminated by a campfire, with its orange-red flames drawing the attention of human eyes.
"FBI?!"
Upon seeing the gold badge in Luo An's hand, a Wyoming police officer named Fres widened his eyes in surprise.
The officer from neighboring Montana, named Duarte, was even more astonished, his mouth agape.
"Hello, Mr. FBI."
After a brief moment of distraction, Fres was the quickest to recover. He reached out and shook Luo An's hand again, his smile even wider:
"I never expected to encounter an FBI agent here camping for leisure today."
Before Luo An could speak, Duarte suddenly remembered the scene where everyone in the campsite suddenly stood up, with Winslow and Reesi even unconsciously placing their hands behind their backs, so he asked with a forced laugh:
"May I know who these individuals are?"
"We are all from the FBI."
Reesi chuckled, also pulling out a gold FBI badge from her pocket and giving it a little wave, then raising her eyebrows at Duarte, saying:
"We just happened to gather here today."
"..."x2
Fres and Duarte, the two police officers, exchanged looks, both seeing speechlessness and shock in the other's eyes.
They truly had never anticipated encountering so many FBI agents on a simple task of conveying a message.
However, bumping into a group of FBI agents had its advantages. Fres quickly came around and began to respond to Luo An's earlier inquiry:
"Our notification indicates that there are two murderers, one male and one female, both around thirty years old..."
Fres and Duarte, the two police officers, briefly described the identity information and physical characteristics of the two murderers before ending with a smile, saying:
"Since all of you are from the FBI, we don't have to worry about safety."
Reesi, Mona, and others pondered carefully over the descriptions of the murderers provided by the two officers. Smiling, Luo An said to them:
"If we notice anything, we will definitely contact you."
"OK."
Fres and Duarte nodded with smiles, then after exchanging a few pleasantries with Luo An, turned and left. There were still many other campers around who they needed to visit and notify.
As the figures of the two officers faded away, everyone at the campsite exchanged glances, seated themselves back down to chat, but the atmosphere was much less lively than before.
"Who would have thought a simple camping trip could run into murderers?"
Reesi brought a piece of grilled meat to the table, her brow slightly furrowed, saying:
"What are murderers doing in Yellowstone Park? This place is not suitable for avoiding police pursuit.
The wild wolves, grizzly bears, and even those springs that could scald or dissolve a person are all dangerous for fugitives."
"Is it possible that the murderers actually wanted to find those springs?"
Chenier skewered a piece of Reesi's grilled meat and put it into her mouth, stating:
"As far as I know, those springs are quite terrifying, capable of boiling a person alive, dissolving them until no bones are left—it's an excellent opportunity to destroy evidence... Pah! Pah! Pah!"
Towards the end, Chenier spat out all the grilled meat she had just put in her mouth, her face in shock as she looked at the red and black chunks:
"Reesi, what on earth did you grill here?"
"Grilled beef."
Reesi's complexion looked rather poor. She picked up a piece of beef and asked:
"Doesn't it taste good?"
Chenier gave Reesi a look without saying a word. Reesi stuffed the beef into her mouth, tasted it seriously for a few seconds, then spit the meat to the side with a solemn face, saying:
"It seems my grilling skills have a lot of room for improvement."
Everyone simultaneously rolled their eyes. Seeing that Reesi was still prepared to go over to the grill to improve her skills, Luo An quickly extended his hand to pull her back to her seat, urging her to waste less food, then said:
"Since there is a suspected murderer lurking about, let's all be a little more cautious when we sleep tonight. Don't sleep too soundly."
"No problem."
Everyone nodded in unison, casually chatted for a bit, then shifted the topic onto other matters, and the atmosphere at the scene gradually heated up.
Winslow soon finished making his American-style barbecue and served it on the table for everyone to share and taste. After everyone finished eating, they unanimously agreed that Reesi still had much room for improvement with her barbecue skills.
Reesi: "..."
Amidst laughter and cheerful conversation, the time approached around ten in the evening, and the group quickly cleaned up the utensils and each returned to their tents to rest.
Watching Reesi pull Evelyn into the tent, hastily zipping it up, Luo An shook his head with a tsk-tsk sound and turned back to his own tent.
Mona was preparing her sleeping bag when she caught Luo An's actions, her eyes narrowed slightly, and she asked in a low voice:
"Don't tell me you're jealous?"
"Yeah, actually I am a bit jealous."
Luo An chuckled, and before Mona could get mad, he wrapped his arms around her and whispered:
"I'm really envious that Reesi's barbecuing skills can still improve so much, unlike me, who can make you all want more with just some casually grilled meat."
"Hmph."
Mona gave Luo An a blank look and simply hummed without saying much. After changing clothes and preparing the sleeping bags, the two lay down ready to sleep.
Not long after, a faint sound reached Luo An's ears in the quiet night sky. He opened his eyes speechlessly, glanced in the direction of Reesi's tent, and turned over, preparing to mentally block out the noise.
Just then, a hand suddenly slipped into Luo An's sleeping bag. Luo An was startled and turned to look at Mona who whispered:
"Don't tell me you didn't hear the noise coming from Reesi's side."
Thinking of some advice Lanita, Winslow's wife, had given her, a subtle gleam flashed through Mona's eyes, her ears turned red, and her movements became slightly more forceful as she whispered:
"Of course, I heard it, so be careful, Luo An, make no sound."
"?"
The corner of Luo An's mouth twitched; something about that statement didn't quite sit right coming from Mona.
Before he could reply, Mona's actions caused Luo An's face to change slightly, and he looked at her somewhat in surprise:
"Mona, you..."
"Shut up!"
Mona lifted her head and covered Luo An's mouth with her own, biting his lip hard, and said in a low voice:
"I already told you, don't make a sound!"
Luo An didn't speak, nor did he have a chance to resist, because Mona pressed down on him firmly...
The night went by without conversation.
The next morning, just before seven, Luo An unzipped the tent and crawled out. The cool and refreshing air in the forest, along with the gentle breeze, hit him, instantly revitalizing him.
"Good morning."
Luo An stretched, and Winslow, who had gotten up even earlier, walked over from the stove with two cups of hot coffee in his hands.
Winslow handed one of the cups to Luo An, then gazed at the tranquil lake in the sunrise and breeze, the surface mirror-smooth, and the occasional bird flying over it, with a faint smile:
"The timing of our trip this time wasn't the best. This lake is really perfect for fishing."
Luo An was at a loss for words upon hearing Winslow's comment. He had expected Winslow to share some refined feelings or famous quotes, but in the end, he was simply thinking about fishing.
How superficial!
Luo An took a small sip of his hot coffee and said:
"Next camping trip, we'll definitely plan this aspect in advance, bring more fishing rods, and fish together. Let's see who can catch the biggest fish."
The two turned to look at each other, clinked their coffee cups, and laughed together.
Before long, the other people in the camp also gradually woke up. The group ate some breakfast, packed up their belongings, and prepared to leave.
